A blank or incomplete LambdaTest screenshot does not point to one confirmed cause in the public LambdaTest documentation available for this guide. First identify which workflow made the image—a screenshot test, an automated browser session, or a report export—then check that workflow’s run status and screenshot artifact. Missing capture, page readiness, capture scope, and image retrieval are useful things to investigate, but the cited sources do not confirm them as LambdaTest-specific root causes.

Start by identifying where the screenshot came from

LambdaTest documents distinct screenshot-related paths. The right one to inspect depends on how the image was created:

  • Screenshot test: LambdaTest’s TestMu AI Screenshots API documentation describes operations to start a screenshot test, retrieve screenshot details, and fetch zipped screenshots. Check the corresponding test and its result artifact.
  • Automated browser session: The Selenium Automation API documentation describes a session endpoint for fetching step-by-step screenshots. Check the session and the relevant step-level artifact.
  • Report or export: If another testing tool produced the report, investigate its capture and export settings as well as the LambdaTest run. Do not assume report settings in a separate product apply to LambdaTest.

These API pages establish that there are different ways to access screenshot artifacts; they do not document a universal fix for blank images or guarantee that every run yields a valid screenshot.

Use the image and run status to narrow the problem

What you see What to check next How to interpret the check
No screenshot artifact Confirm the test or session completed, then check the screenshot retrieval path for that workflow. If no artifact is available, inspect the actual capture configuration and, for exported reports, the report tool’s settings. The LambdaTest API references document retrieval operations, not the reason an artifact might be absent.
An image exists but is entirely blank Compare it with the live session and record whether the page had finished rendering when capture occurred. Page readiness is a variable to test, not a confirmed LambdaTest cause in the cited documentation.
An image exists but content is cut off Check the intended capture scope and compare it with the scope supported by the actual workflow. Viewport and full-page captures can differ in screenshot tools generally. A legacy LambdaTest code reference distinguishes OS-viewport and entire-page methods, but it is not evidence that current services behave the same way.
The image differs from the browser session Record browser, operating system, viewport or device, URL, and capture method; reproduce with one controlled change at a time. This helps isolate a variable without treating any one setting as a verified root cause.

Run a controlled troubleshooting check

  1. Record the reproduction details. Note the run or test ID, session ID, URL if shareable, browser and operating system, viewport or device, capture method, capture scope, and timestamp. Include whether the page appeared fully rendered before capture.
  2. Check completion and the artifact. Use the matching screenshot-test or session workflow to verify that the run completed and that a screenshot can be retrieved. If the image is part of an export from another tool, check that tool’s configuration too.
  3. Compare against the live session. Determine whether the page itself was blank at the capture moment or whether the saved image alone is blank. For a cropped result, establish whether the expected output was a viewport image or a full-page image.
  4. Change one variable per retry. Test page readiness or waiting behavior, capture scope, or browser/device configuration separately. Keep the original image and identifiers so you can compare results.
  5. Escalate with a reproducible case if it persists. Send LambdaTest support the run/session identifier, timestamp, browser and device configuration, capture method, original image, and a reproducible URL if you can share it. This is a practical diagnostic package, not a published LambdaTest support requirement.

What not to conclude from a blank image

A blank screenshot alone does not establish that LambdaTest is down, that the website failed to render, or that a particular browser setting caused the problem. The surfaced LambdaTest API references explain screenshot-related operations, not issue-specific diagnosis. Treat timing, browser/device configuration, viewport, and capture scope as hypotheses to test against a particular run.

If your goal is simply to capture a website, ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API. It accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses indicate the page verdict and billing status in headers. An MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Example using cURL (replace the URL and use your API key):

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo to try it free.
