If images or web fonts disappear from an Html2Pdf.app PDF, first check that the page and each required asset can be reached publicly by the renderer. Then check whether the assets load in time, whether the PDF uses the intended CSS media mode, and—if an image is in a header or footer—whether it is embedded as a data URL. Html2Pdf.app renders with headless Chromium, so inaccessible resources, CSS mode, and JavaScript timing can all affect the result.
Check that the page and its assets are publicly reachable
Html2Pdf.app recommends confirming that both the submitted source URL and its required CSS, fonts, and images are reachable by the rendering service when a document is blank or missing styles. Its cURL troubleshooting guide calls out these checks directly.
- Open the exact page URL you send to the API and confirm it loads without signing in or passing an access check.
- Inspect the page’s image, stylesheet, and font URLs. Test each URL independently in a browser session that is not already authenticated.
- If you submit raw HTML, check the public accessibility of every resource referenced by that HTML, not just the HTML string itself.
A resource that requires a login or other private access may be visible in your own browser but unavailable to the renderer. A longer wait cannot fix an asset the renderer cannot fetch.
Fix missing web fonts
Html2Pdf.app documents Google Fonts and self-hosted web fonts through CSS @font-face. The stylesheet and font files must be publicly reachable without authentication. Review the font declaration’s URL, then verify that the CSS file and the font file it references can each be fetched publicly. If the font is available but appears to load asynchronously, try the waitFor parameter. It specifies the number of seconds to wait before PDF generation and accepts values from 0 to 10 seconds. Increase the wait in a controlled test and compare the output; waiting may help with timing, but it will not make an inaccessible font file available.
Check the CSS media mode
The API accepts screen or print for its media parameter, with screen documented as the default. Pages can define different styles for screen and print, including different visibility or layout for images and text. Set media to the mode the page’s design expects and compare the resulting PDF.

Handle images in header and footer templates differently
Header and footer templates have a specific resource restriction: external resources cannot load there. If a template image is missing, embed it as a base64 data URL instead of referencing an external image URL. Templates also do not inherit the source page’s CSS, so include the required styles directly in the header or footer markup.
Use a one-variable-at-a-time troubleshooting sequence
- Confirm the submitted page URL is public to the renderer.
- Check the specific missing image, stylesheet, or font URL for public reachability and authentication requirements.
- For a font, verify both the
@font-facedeclaration and the accessibility of its stylesheet and font file. - If JavaScript or asynchronous loading is involved, test an appropriate
waitForvalue from 0 to 10 seconds. - Compare
screenandprintmedia modes where the page’s styling differs. - If the asset is in a header or footer template, embed the image as base64 and include its styles in the template.
Keep the generated PDF for each test and change only one setting at a time. The documented checks identify common causes, but no single setting is a universal fix for every missing asset.

Why does adding more wait time not restore an image or font?
A wait can help only when a reachable resource needs more time to load; it cannot resolve an inaccessible or authentication-protected asset.

Can a header or footer template use an ordinary external image URL?
