To be eligible, you generally need to be signed in to a YouTube channel that is not a Brand Account, have gifts enabled, be subscribed to the channel, have interacted with it recently, and not already be a member there. Even then, eligibility does not guarantee selection. Also check that you are watching on YouTube’s watch page: embedded players do not show live chat.
Check eligibility and opt-in first
YouTube’s recipient guidance lists several conditions for receiving a gifted membership. Check them in this order:

- Use the right account. Sign in to the YouTube channel you want to receive the gift on. YouTube says gift opt-in requires a channel that is not a Brand Account. If you already have a membership on that channel, you are not currently eligible to receive its gifted membership. See YouTube’s recipient guidance.
- Turn on Allow gifts. In an eligible live chat, select Allow Gifts or the pinned membership-gifting control and enable the switch. You can also open Join on the channel or a watch page, select More, then Gift Settings, and switch on Allow gifts. YouTube describes these options in its membership-promotion guidance.
- Check whether your opt-in is channel-specific. If you opted in for gifts from one channel only, that may not cover other channels. Enable global opt-in in Gift Settings if you want to be eligible across channels.
- Confirm your relationship with the channel. You must be subscribed to the channel and have interacted with it recently, according to YouTube. Chatting more does not guarantee that you will be selected.
These checks determine eligibility, not the outcome of a particular giveaway. YouTube’s public guidance cannot confirm whether a specific viewer met the conditions or was selected.
Make sure you are looking at the right place
Open the YouTube watch page
If you are watching an embedded video player on another site, open the stream directly on YouTube. YouTube says live chat is available on YouTube watch pages, not embedded players; see Learn about live streams.

Do not confuse the purchase ticker with your gift notification
The ticker announcing that someone bought memberships appears in chat for a limited time. It is not the same as a recipient notification. YouTube says a selected viewer for a one-month gift receives a separate live-chat notification and an email. Check the chat and the email associated with the account you used to opt in.
A missing or expired purchase ticker does not prove that no memberships were distributed: YouTube says gifts may still be distributed if the stream or chat ends before the purchase announcement appears. If you received a gift, find its membership benefits
A gifted membership is non-recurring and lasts for up to one month. To see what it includes, open the channel’s Memberships tab or select See perks on one of its video pages. YouTube explains where to find benefits in Use & manage your channel membership benefits on YouTube.
What creators can tell viewers
Share the channel-specific allow-gifts link from YouTube’s membership-promotion guidance and ask viewers to check that Allow gifts is enabled. YouTube says opting in for a channel makes viewers eligible for current and future gifts there; it does not promise that any individual will receive one. If a buyer’s ticker vanishes, explain that the ticker is temporary and is separate from a selected recipient’s chat and email notifications.

Does keeping the stream online affect gifted memberships?
