FURIA AWPer Danil “molodoy” Golubenko says he plans to return to a more aggressive style, including taking repeeks, because he believes that approach suits him. The October 2, 2026 HLTV interview describes an intention—not evidence that his in-game approach has already changed.
Why is molodoy going back to aggressive AWPing?
Molodoy says he had been trying to adjust his game toward team play, but after the China event he decided he did not want to keep trying to “fix” his style. He told HLTV that aggressive AWPing and taking repeeks feel more natural to him: “I need to play more aggressive because it’s my style. For me, it works, and I don’t need to stop this.”
That is his explanation for the planned change. The interview does not establish that aggression caused his earlier results, or that a return to it will produce a particular statistical outcome.
How does HLTV put his recent results in context?
HLTV framed the interview with molodoy’s rating against top-five teams: 1.20 in the prior year, compared with 0.99 for 2026 at the time the interview was published. HLTV also reported a 1.06 playoff rating for 2026 at that point. These are distinct measures and timeframes, not proof that a change in style accounts for the difference.

What did he say about his eye and pressure?
Molodoy said his eye was better and that he used medication for a little while: “I need to just use meds for eyes a little bit, and it’s good.” He also said pressure earlier had made it difficult for him to focus. These are his comments in the interview, not an independently verified diagnosis or medical assessment.

How did he describe the break and FURIA’s future?
He said the short time at home was welcome because he could see family and relax. He expected the value of the team’s refreshment to become clearer over time, rather than claiming an immediate change in performance.
With FalleN’s retirement impending, molodoy said losing someone close would be difficult. He wants to give FalleN his best and try to win the remaining events. Reflecting on the possibility of losing people close to him, he said: “You can lose some people close to you. It’s life. What are you going to do?”

What the interview does—and does not—confirm
The clearest takeaway is a stated preference: molodoy wants to trust his individual, aggressive AWPing again instead of continuing to reshape his game around team play. Whether that intention shows up in matches, and how it affects results, remains to be seen. Read the full interview on HLTV.org.
