Banking apps can block screenshots to reduce the chance that account details, balances, or transaction information are captured, shared, or exposed in screen recordings and previews. If you need a record, look for a receipt, statement, download, or sharing option provided by your bank; if none fits, ask the bank for an official copy. Avoid tools or methods intended to defeat the restriction.
Why a banking app blocks screenshots
On Android, an app can mark a window as secure with FLAG_SECURE. Android describes this flag as telling the system not to allow screenshots or show the app window on a non-secure display, such as a cast screen. Its documentation names banking apps and password managers as examples of apps that may use it to protect sensitive screens. Android Developers: Secure sensitive activities
The goal is broader than stopping someone from pressing the screenshot buttons. Preventing display on a non-secure screen can help keep app content from appearing during casting or similar screen sharing. Android also describes protection against background captures that could otherwise include the app window. Some users see wording such as “blocked due to security policy,” or report that they cannot take a screenshot in a particular app. Those phrases describe the user-visible problem; by themselves, they do not identify which technical safeguard the app uses. Example user discussion

Blocking and screenshot detection are not the same
Android 14 introduced a screenshot-detection API that can notify an app in supported circumstances that a screenshot was taken. The callback does not give the app the screenshot image. Detection is different from FLAG_SECURE: detection reports an event, while the secure-window flag is Android’s documented mechanism for keeping a window out of screenshots and non-secure displays. What the restriction does—and does not—guarantee
FLAG_SECURE is a safeguard, not a guarantee against every way sensitive information might be exposed. Android says it does not reliably prevent overlay attacks. Its documentation also says that on Android 11 (API 30) and lower, the flag works reliably on about 70% of devices; Android gives the possibility of keyboard taps being recorded on certain devices as the reason. Whether a capture is blocked can depend on the operating system, its version, the bank app, and the particular screen. The Android documentation explains Android behavior; it does not establish a universal rule for every bank or an equivalent technical explanation for iOS.

- Open the transaction in the bank app. Look for its detail page and a receipt, confirmation, download, or share control.
- For account history, check for a statement export. If the app does not offer what you need, see whether your bank’s website provides an appropriate statement or record.
- Ask the bank if you need an official or shareable copy. Explain what record you need and ask how to provide it safely, including whether it can supply a redacted copy where appropriate.
These are practical suggestions, not verified features of every bank. For example, the Bank of India app page states that screenshots are not allowed for security and instructs users to close screen-recording or screen-sharing apps before using its app. That is a bank-specific instruction, not evidence of how every banking app works. If the app says screen recording or sharing must stop
If a bank app reports that screen recording or screen sharing is active, close the relevant recording, casting, or sharing feature and try again. Bank of India explicitly gives this instruction for its app; follow another bank’s own prompt or support guidance for its app.

Why bypass tools are a bad workaround
Do not use third-party screenshot utilities, modified versions of the banking app, or root-based methods to defeat the restriction. Such workarounds undermine a safeguard intended to limit exposure of financial information. Google Play’s policy requires apps to respect another app’s FLAG_SECURE setting and prohibits facilitating workarounds to bypass it.
