What did Intel Fellow mean?
Intel called Fellow its “highest technical position” and said the appointments recognized outstanding technical contributions at the company. The rank highlighted technical leadership rather than a product launch or a general corporate award. A contemporary EE Times report published December 9, 1999 used the same description.

How did their technical work differ?
The six appointments brought together expertise from three Intel organizations. Adiletta’s communications-processor role focused on equipment for Internet networks, while Bigbee’s software work connected processors and chipsets with operating systems, drivers and firmware. Borkar’s portfolio addressed circuit design for future microprocessors.
Duvall, Kempf and Webb worked in Intel’s Technology and Manufacturing Group. Their responsibilities covered design tools and optimization, manufacturing decision processes, and circuit and process technology. Taken together, the roster ranged from product-facing architecture and software to factory operations and semiconductor manufacturing.
What does the historical record establish?
Intel’s 1999 annual report also lists the six people as Fellows in their respective organizations, corroborating the roster. These sources describe their appointments and responsibilities in 1999; they do not establish later-career histories or current positions.
