Abby Trott is an American actor and singer best known for voicing Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer, Momo Ayase in Dandadan, and a wide range of characters in anime, Western animation, and video games. She also performed the English vocals for “Lifelight,” the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Current game-credit listings identify her as Rose Belmont in the 2026 Nintendo Switch title Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.
Her career crosses several different kinds of performance: dubbed anime, original English animation, interactive games, live-action dubbing, commercial singing, and soundtrack work. The result is a résumé that includes frightened children, comic heroes, playable fighters, mentors, creatures, and a game protagonist.
Who is Abby Trott?
Abby Trott is an actor and singer from Attleboro, Massachusetts. Her official biography says she has lived and worked in Tokyo and New York and is now based in Los Angeles. That background helps explain the range of her résumé: she works in English-language animation and games while also performing in Japanese-to-English anime dubbing.

It also identifies Japanese-language ability at JLPT N2 level. Her training includes Meisner technique, Howard Fine’s masterclass, and improv courses from Upright Citizens Brigade. Those details describe formal preparation, but her credits show how that preparation is applied across very different recording situations.

IMDb’s biography describes Trott as beginning in Japan as a puppeteer before returning to the United States for voice acting. That is a secondary-source biographical claim, so it is best treated separately from the details in her own biography and résumé.
Trott’s work is not limited to one studio, franchise, or audience. Her résumé groups her credits into anime dubbing, Western animation, interactive games, live-action dubbing, and singing. She can therefore be recognized by different viewers for entirely different performances.
What characters does Abby Trott voice?

Anime roles
Anime dubbing is one of the most visible parts of Trott’s career. She voices Nezuko Kamado and the small companion Chuntaro in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The two parts require different approaches: Nezuko is a central dramatic figure whose communication is often nonverbal, while Chuntaro is a creature performance built around sound, timing, and personality rather than extended dialogue.
Trott voices Momo Ayase in Dandadan, a prominent role in a series that mixes supernatural action, comedy, and personal drama. She also voices Shizuka in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead and Yoh Asakura in the 2021 version of Shaman King. Yoh is especially notable because it places Trott in the role of a male lead rather than the female characters for which many viewers first encounter her.

Other anime and Japanese-animation credits listed for Trott include Akane in My Love Story with Yamada-kun at LVL 999, along with roles in Hunter × Hunter, The Seven Deadly Sins, Mob Psycho 100, and Rilakkuma and Kaoru. These credits show that her anime work is not tied to a single genre or vocal type.
Western animation roles
In Western animation, Trott voices Windblade in Transformers: Combiner Wars and Titans Return. She also plays Ivy in Carmen Sandiego, Becky in The Casagrandes, and Dawn in The Croods Family Tree. The résumé further credits her with multiple parts in Rock, Paper, Scissors.
These projects differ from anime dubbing in production method and performance direction. A dub actor is matching an existing performance and mouth timing, whereas an actor in an original English animated production may establish a character before the final animation is complete. Trott’s résumé includes both kinds of work.
Video-game roles
Trott’s interactive credits include Maya Fey in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, Annette in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Tae Takemi in Persona 5 Royal. She voices Pod 153 in NieR:Automata, April O’Neil in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, Wonder Woman in MultiVersus, and Kim Wu in Killer Instinct.
Those parts illustrate several different game-performance formats. Maya Fey and Tae Takemi are dialogue-heavy story characters. Annette is a playable character whose voice accompanies repeated combat and menu interactions. Wonder Woman and Kim Wu are playable fighters, where short attack calls, reactions, and victory lines have to remain recognizable through repeated use. Pod 153 is a non-human companion role, requiring a controlled, clearly identifiable delivery rather than a conventional human voice.

Did Abby Trott sing the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate song?
Yes. Abby Trott sang the English vocals for “Lifelight,” the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game’s 2018-era release context made the song one of her most recognizable music credits, even for people who may not know her anime or animation work.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute“Lifelight” is a vocal performance credit, not a claim that Trott composed the song or wrote its lyrics. Her official résumé specifically identifies her contribution as the English vocals. That distinction matters because a theme can involve separate credits for composition, lyrics, arrangement, translation, and performance.
In an interview with Nintendo Life, Trott discussed auditioning for “Lifelight.” She said: “That’s such a tough question because there’s never a moment where I feel like I’ve made it, as they say. There won’t be a moment because, as an actor, you are always auditioning. I still audition for most jobs that I do.” Her comment places the song within the same career pattern as her acting work: even a highly visible credit follows an audition and does not end the need to keep auditioning.
What other singing work has Abby Trott done?
“Lifelight” is the best-known singing credit in the available résumé, but it is not her only vocal work. Trott is also credited with chorus work for Wonderful Wingits and Treehouse Detectives, performance in a McDonald’s radio quartet, backup vocals on TIGARAH’s album This World is My Playground, and commercial vocals for Orient Watch and Uno Hair Gel.
These credits cover several forms of professional singing:

Her singing résumé therefore complements, rather than replaces, her acting résumé. It shows that she has worked both as a featured voice and as part of an ensemble.
Who voices Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?
Current game-credit listings identify Abby Trott as the English voice of Rose Belmont in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, listed as a 2026 Nintendo Switch game. Nintendo Life’s interview also describes Trott as taking the lead role of Rose Belmont and discusses the project alongside her work on the Super Smash Bros. theme.
Rose Belmont is therefore a video-game performance credit, not an anime or television credit. The listing identifies Trott with the English voice role in the game, while the available information does not establish additional details such as the character’s complete biography, the game’s full release schedule, or the scope of every recording session.
Is Rose Belmont from the Netflix Castlevania series?
The cited credits concern the video game Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. They do not establish a role for Trott in Netflix’s Castlevania animated series. Those are separate productions, and the shared franchise name should not be treated as evidence that the same performer appears in both.
How Abby Trott’s credits compare across media
Trott’s résumé becomes easier to read when her credits are compared by both medium and character function. The following framework avoids ranking performances and instead explains what each category asks of an actor.

| Category | Examples | What the performance demands | Why audiences may recognize it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anime dub | Nezuko, Momo, Shizuka, Yoh | Match an existing Japanese performance, timing, and emotional rhythm in English | Large serialized stories and streaming audiences |
| Western animation | Windblade, Ivy, Becky, Dawn | Create or adapt a character for an English-original production | Franchise animation and children’s programming |
| Story-driven game | Maya Fey, Annette, Tae Takemi | Sustain character identity across branching or repeated dialogue | Major game franchises with strong character communities |
| Playable fighter | Wonder Woman, Kim Wu, April O’Neil | Deliver concise, repeatable reactions, attacks, and victories | Players hear the voice throughout matches |
| Creature or non-human role | Chuntaro, Pod 153 | Communicate personality without relying on ordinary human speech | Distinctive sounds can become character signatures |
| Singing | “Lifelight” and commercial or chorus work | Perform melody, diction, and style under music-production direction | Theme songs reach audiences beyond the original cast |
This range is why a single label such as “anime voice actor” does not fully describe Trott. She is also a game actor, an animation performer, and a professional singer. Her credits move between lead protagonists, supporting characters, mascots or creatures, playable fighters, and ensemble vocals.
Which Abby Trott role is the best starting point?
The right starting point depends on what the reader already watches or plays:
- For anime viewers: start with Nezuko in Demon Slayer, Momo in Dandadan, Shizuka in Zom 100, or Yoh in Shaman King.
- For animation fans: try Windblade in the Transformers projects, Ivy in Carmen Sandiego, Becky in The Casagrandes, or Dawn in The Croods Family Tree.
- For game players: compare Maya Fey, Annette, Tae Takemi, Pod 153, Wonder Woman, and Kim Wu to hear how her approach changes with the format.
- For music-focused listeners: “Lifelight” is the clearest entry point, followed by her documented chorus, backing-vocal, radio, and commercial work.
- For Castlevania fans: the relevant credit is Rose Belmont in the 2026 game listing for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, not a confirmed role in the Netflix series.
What Abby Trott’s résumé shows about her career
Trott’s career is defined less by one signature character than by movement between industries. A viewer might first hear her in a dubbed anime, encounter her again as a game character, and then recognize her singing on a major game theme. Her education in acting and East Asian Studies, Japanese-language training, and experience in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles fit that cross-medium path.
