To find accessories that fit your printer, identify its full model number and check that model in the manufacturer’s official supplies or parts finder. Match the exact cartridge or accessory number shown there, and confirm the listing applies to the region where you use the printer.
Find your printer’s exact model number
Use the complete model name or number, not just the brand or product family. Epson says the model number may appear on the printer’s front panel, inside the ink cartridge compartment, or in the user manual. [Epson support]
Once you have it, search the manufacturer’s support site, supplies finder, or parts page. Brother’s official US supplies catalog accepts a machine model number or a supply number; its prompt says, “Enter your Machine Model Number or your Supply Number below, excluding the hyphen.” [Brother supplies catalog]
Check each accessory in the model-specific listing
Compatibility is specific to the printer model and the item. A cartridge chart maps printer models to cartridge numbers, while an optional paper feeder may be listed only for selected printers. Do not assume an item fits every printer from the same manufacturer—or every printer in a product family.

Ink and toner cartridges

Standard and high-yield cartridges
Compare standard and high-yield options only after confirming the cartridge fits. HP says XL cartridges generally print more pages than standard cartridges. For one example, HP lists a 1,000-page stated yield for the HP 940 Black and 2,200 pages for the HP 940XL Black; these are manufacturer-stated example yields, not a general guarantee. Paper trays, feeders, and other parts
Check the exact printer model on the official parts page before buying a physical add-on. For example, HP lists optional 550-sheet feeders for particular supported models; that listing does not establish compatibility with other printers. [HP parts information]

Cables and wireless accessories
For cables or wireless adapters, consult the printer’s current manual and inspect its available ports. Older accessory lists are not a reliable basis for recommending a cable or adapter across current models.

Use caution with third-party or refilled cartridges
Manufacturer listings establish which supplies the manufacturer identifies for a printer; they do not establish that every third-party product advertised as compatible will perform the same way. HP says it cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges and describes dynamic security on some printers. HP also says damage attributable to non-HP cartridges is not covered by its limited warranty or support contract. This is HP’s stated policy, not a universal warranty rule for all printer brands. - Record the printer’s complete model number from the device or its manual.
- Open the manufacturer’s official supplies finder or parts listing and search that exact model.
- Match the precise cartridge, part, or accessory number shown for the model.
- For ink or toner, confirm the regional cartridge number and then compare standard or high-yield versions.
- For physical add-ons, check that the listed model matches and that the accessory suits the printer’s current configuration.
If the official listing does not show your model or the exact item number, compatibility is not established by the information available there. Check the printer’s manual or ask the manufacturer before ordering.
