Start with the settings that control what other people can see and what happens when you fold the phone: external-display privacy, app transitions, and flip-call behavior. Then review Sleep and Desk display options, make important Quick settings controls easy to reach, and enable only the gestures you expect to use. The paths below are for the Motorola Razr+ 2025; labels and features can differ on the 2024 and 2023 models or after software updates.
1. Set what appears on the external display
With the phone closed, the cover display can show information and shortcuts without unlocking or opening the device. Decide what should be visible or usable in public before customizing convenience features.
Review the lock screen and shortcuts
On the Razr+ 2025, open Settings > External display > Lock screen to review the lock-screen appearance. Motorola documents a blur control for the lock-screen background. On the external home screen, choose which app shortcuts appear. Keep only shortcuts you are comfortable having readily accessible when the phone is closed. 2. Decide how apps behave when you fold the phone
For each app allowed on the cover display, choose a transition behavior that matches how you use it and how much access you want while the phone is closed. Motorola’s options are:

- Manual transition: You decide whether to continue using the app on the external display after folding the phone.
- Auto transition: The app moves to the external display automatically when you fold the phone.
- Don’t transition: The app stays on the inner display rather than continuing outside.
Automatic transition is convenient when you regularly continue an app after folding; manual transition gives you a decision point; Don’t transition is appropriate when you do not want an app to carry on outside. These choices can be set per app. Motorola documents them in its external-display help for the Razr+ 2025.
3. Check what opening and closing the phone do during calls
Review the flip-call options for answering an incoming call when you open the phone and ending a call when you close it. Keep the behavior that feels natural, but change it if opening the phone might answer a call unexpectedly or closing it might end a conversation you intended to continue. Motorola lists these controls in the Razr+ 2025 external-display instructions.

4. Tune Sleep display wake behavior
Sleep display can show the time, notifications, and media controls on the external screen. Choose whether a tap, lifting the phone, or a nearby hand movement wakes it, based on how often you want to check it and whether accidental wake-ups are a concern. Motorola says Sleep display uses very little power, but the available instructions do not quantify the effect of individual wake gestures on battery life.
If you use Desk display, do not turn Sleep display off: Motorola says disabling Sleep display also disables Desk display. The wake controls and this dependency are covered in Motorola’s external-display help.

5. Keep Desk display dimming enabled in Tent and Stand modes
Motorola recommends leaving Dim pictures & album covers on for both Tent and Stand modes. Its stated reason is to extend battery life and lessen the risk of an image burning into the external display. The recommendation is specific to those Desk display modes; it does not establish a measured battery-life improvement. See Motorola’s Razr+ 2025 external-display instructions.
6. Make useful Quick settings controls easy to reach
Quick settings work on both the open phone and the external display. Arrange or prioritize the controls you use often, and make sure you can find these privacy and focus controls:

- Twist the phone twice to launch the camera.
- Chop twice to toggle the flashlight.
- Touch the screen with three fingers to take a screenshot.
- Tap the back of the phone to launch a selected shortcut.
- Place the phone face-down to turn on Do Not Disturb.
These are optional convenience settings, not required setup changes. Motorola lists the documented gestures in its Razr+ 2025 gesture help.
8. Choose power-button actions without losing the power menu
Review what a double press and a press-and-hold do. Depending on model and software, documented actions include launching the camera or assistant/Moto AI, or opening the power menu. If you assign press-and-hold to something other than the power menu, Motorola says that on the documented Razr+ 2025 build you can open the power menu with Power + Volume up. This keeps shutdown and restart available after changing the shortcut. See Motorola’s gesture and shortcut instructions.
Apply the settings in the order that matters to you
- Privacy first: Choose external lock-screen visibility and shortcuts.
- Folding behavior next: Set app transitions and flip-call actions so folding and opening work as expected.
- Display behavior: Select Sleep display wake gestures and keep Desk display dimming on in Tent and Stand modes.
- Everyday access: Put frequently used Quick settings controls within reach.
- Optional shortcuts last: Enable gestures and power-button actions only after deciding which ones suit your routine.
These priorities concern settings and behavior, not a guaranteed battery result. Motorola’s product page lists a 4000mAh battery, 45W TurboPower wired charging, and 15W wireless charging for the Razr+ 2025; these are manufacturer specifications, not evidence that any particular setting produces a specific battery-life gain.
