Bloober Team has developed games ranging from the experimental Basement Crawl and multiplayer BRAWL to psychological-horror titles such as Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch and The Medium. Its major recent projects are the Silent Hill 2 remake and the original survival-horror game Cronos: The New Dawn. Development and publishing are separate credits: the studio is explicitly documented as publisher of Layers of Fear (2023), while Silent Hill 2 was developed by Bloober in partnership with Konami rather than self-published by Bloober.
Bloober Team’s games at a glance
The table below separates what is established about development from what is established about publishing. A title appearing in Bloober Team’s portfolio means the studio presents it as part of its catalogue; it does not, by itself, prove that Bloober handled publishing.
| Game or edition | Bloober’s role | Format and status | What is established about publishing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basement Crawl | Developed by Bloober Team | Early PlayStation 4 project; development documented in 2013 | Not established by the cited official material |
| BRAWL | Developed by Bloober Team | Multiplayer arena game; PC/Mac release scheduled for 13 August 2015 | Not established by the cited official material |
| Layers of Fear (2016) | Developed by Bloober Team | Psychological horror; original game in the franchise | Original external publisher not established in the cited official material |
| Observer (2017) | Developed by Bloober Team | Cyberpunk psychological horror | Older release’s publisher not established in the cited official material |
| Layers of Fear 2 (2019) | Developed by Bloober Team | Psychological-horror sequel | Not established by the cited official material |
| Blair Witch (2019) | Developed by Bloober Team | Licensed horror game | Original publisher not established in the cited official material |
| Observer: System Redux (2020) | Developed as a modernized edition of Observer | Updated version of the cyberpunk psychological-horror game | Not established by the cited official material |
| The Medium (2021) | Developed by Bloober Team | Psychological horror | Not established in the cited official material |
| Layers of Fear (2023) | Co-developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios | Franchise title combining the Layers of Fear material | Explicitly published by Bloober Team |
| SILENT HILL 2 (2024 remake) | Developed by Bloober Team | Remake; PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam are listed by Bloober | Developed in partnership with KONAMI; not a Bloober self-published release |
| Cronos: The New Dawn (2025) | Developed by Bloober Team | Original survival-horror title | Exact publisher and physical-edition arrangements vary by market and require confirmation |
| SAW: GENESIS | Announced collaboration involving Bloober Team/Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios | Upcoming, not a released game in the historical catalogue | Announcement names Lionsgate, Bloober Team/Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios; final release details are not established |
What “developed by Bloober” means
“Developed by” identifies the studio responsible for making the game, either alone or with a co-development partner. It is different from “published by,” which identifies the company handling release, distribution, marketing or the commercial publishing agreement. A studio can develop a game for another company, co-develop it with a partner, publish its own project, or combine those roles on different titles.
That distinction matters most for Bloober’s best-known projects. The studio’s official Silent Hill 2 page says “Developed by Bloober Team” and describes the remake as a partnership with KONAMI. That is a development credit, not evidence that Bloober published the game. Conversely, the press material for Layers of Fear (2023) explicitly says the game was “being published by Bloober Team” and co-developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios.

For several older releases, the official pages used for this catalogue establish Bloober’s development role but do not establish the original publisher. It is safer to leave those credits title-specific than to infer a company-wide publishing role from the studio’s later self-publishing activity.
Bloober Team’s catalogue, in chronological context
Basement Crawl: an early PlayStation 4 project
Bloober’s 2013 investor release identified Basement Crawl as a PlayStation 4 game the company was developing. It is frequently cited as an early turning point in the studio’s history, before Bloober became primarily associated with psychological horror. The documented fact is the development role; the cited material does not establish who published the finished release.
BRAWL: multiplayer experimentation
BRAWL shows that the studio’s early catalogue was not limited to narrative horror. Bloober’s official project information describes it as a multiplayer arena game, and an investor release scheduled its PC and Mac release for 13 August 2015. That combination of a competitive format and cross-platform computer release makes it distinct from the later first-person psychological-horror projects. No publisher credit is established by the official material cited for this list.

The 2016 Layers of Fear is a Bloober-developed psychological-horror title and the starting point of the franchise as it is commonly recognized. Bloober’s current portfolio groups it with the wider Layers of Fear line. The available official evidence confirms development but does not identify the original external publisher, so the game should not be labelled a Bloober-published release without a title-specific publishing source.

Observer (2017): cyberpunk psychological horror
Observer moved Bloober’s psychological-horror approach into a cyberpunk setting. It is a Bloober-developed game released in 2017. The studio’s portfolio now prominently identifies the later Observer: System Redux edition, while the older game’s publisher is not established by the official pages cited here.
Layers of Fear 2 (2019): a direct franchise sequel
Released in 2019, Layers of Fear 2 is a Bloober-developed sequel in the same psychological-horror franchise. The development credit is clear; the cited official material does not establish its external publishing arrangement. Treat it as a sequel rather than as a separate new intellectual property.
Blair Witch (2019): a licensed horror project
Blair Witch is a Bloober-developed horror game based on a licensed property. The licence differentiates it from Bloober’s original Layers of Fear and Observer concepts: Bloober supplied development for an established fictional universe. The official pages used here do not establish the original publisher, so the publishing credit should remain unassigned in a general catalogue.
Observer: System Redux (2020): a modernized edition
Observer: System Redux is not a wholly separate original franchise; it is Bloober’s modernized edition of Observer. Bloober’s official homepage specifically features this version. When counting Bloober games, it is useful to list it separately for readers looking for the current edition, while explaining that it derives from the 2017 game.

The Medium (2021): another psychological-horror original
The Medium is a Bloober-developed psychological-horror game from 2021. It belongs to the studio’s original horror catalogue rather than being a remake or a licensed adaptation. The official material cited for this article confirms Bloober’s development role but does not establish the original publisher.
Layers of Fear (2023): co-development and explicit self-publishing
The 2023 Layers of Fear is the clearest example of Bloober combining development and publishing. Official press material states that it was being published by Bloober Team and co-developed by Bloober Team and Anshar Studios. This is a distinct 2023 franchise release, not evidence that every earlier Layers of Fear game was also published by Bloober.
Bloober’s official site also lists related franchise editions named Layers of Fear: Legacy, Layers of Fear: Inheritance and Layers of Fear: Solitude. These should be treated as editions or related versions in a catalogue, not automatically counted as entirely new standalone games.

Bloober lists PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam.

For readers asking whether Bloober published Silent Hill 2, the accurate answer is no—not on the evidence available here. It is a Bloober-developed remake produced through a Bloober–Konami partnership. Calling it “Bloober’s game” is correct when discussing development, but “Bloober-published” overstates the documented credit.
Cronos: The New Dawn (2025): an original survival-horror direction
Cronos: The New Dawn is presented on Bloober’s official homepage as an original survival-horror title from 2025. It is therefore different from both the licensed Blair Witch project and the Silent Hill 2 remake. The exact publisher and physical-edition arrangements should be checked for the relevant market; they are not established by the evidence used for this catalogue.
SAW: GENESIS: announced, not historical catalogue
SAW: GENESIS should be kept separate from released games. Official news describes it as an announced collaboration among Lionsgate, Bloober Team/Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios. Because it is an upcoming project, its final release date, platforms, publishing structure and edition details may change. It is not evidence that Bloober has already released or self-published a SAW game.
Which games did Bloober actually publish?
Based on the title-specific evidence available, Layers of Fear (2023) is the game that can be confidently identified as published by Bloober Team. Its press material names Bloober as publisher and Anshar Studios as co-developer.

Silent Hill 2 belongs in a different category: Bloober developed it, while the project was made in partnership with KONAMI. That partnership does not support describing the remake as self-published by Bloober.
For Basement Crawl, BRAWL, the 2016 Layers of Fear, Observer, Layers of Fear 2, Blair Witch, Observer: System Redux and The Medium, the official material cited for this article confirms development or portfolio status but does not provide enough evidence to assign Bloober the publishing role. Cronos: The New Dawn requires market-specific confirmation, and SAW: GENESIS is still unreleased.
Original games, licensed projects and remakes
| Category | Bloober examples | How to interpret the credit |
|---|---|---|
| Original or studio-led concepts | Layers of Fear, Observer, The Medium, Cronos: The New Dawn | Bloober developed the underlying game concept; publishing still has to be checked separately. |
| Licensed property | Blair Witch | Bloober developed a game in an existing entertainment universe. |
| Remake | SILENT HILL 2 | Bloober developed a new version of an established game in partnership with KONAMI. |
| Sequel | Layers of Fear 2 | A continuation of an existing Bloober franchise. |
| Modernized or related edition | Observer: System Redux; Layers of Fear: Legacy; Inheritance; Solitude | Related versions or editions should not automatically be counted as independent new intellectual properties. |
| Multiplayer or experimental early work | Basement Crawl; BRAWL | Shows that Bloober’s catalogue predates its current psychological-horror identity. |
What should you play after the Silent Hill 2 remake?
Choose by the kind of experience you want rather than by publisher label:
Recommended Free Tools
- For more psychological horror from Bloober: start with Layers of Fear (2023), then explore the earlier Layers of Fear games.
- For cyberpunk psychological horror: choose Observer: System Redux, the modernized edition of Observer.
- For a licensed horror setting: try Blair Witch.
- For another original psychological-horror game: choose The Medium.
- For survival horror rather than a remake: look to Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober’s original 2025 project.
- For Bloober’s non-horror or experimental history: BRAWL is the multiplayer arena entry, while Basement Crawl represents an early PlayStation 4 project.
These recommendations describe development lineage and genre, not a claim that Bloober published every listed title.
Bloober Team’s scale and changing identity
Bloober says it was established in 2008 and has more than 250 people, according to its current “About Us” information accessed in 2026. Its catalogue reflects a visible shift: early projects included multiplayer and experimental work, while the studio later became identified with psychological horror, licensed horror, remakes and survival horror. That evolution explains why a list limited to Layers of Fear and Silent Hill 2 would miss important parts of the company’s history.
The safest way to describe Bloober’s credits is title by title. Development can be confirmed for the games in the catalogue above, but publishing depends on the individual agreement, partner and market. The one unambiguous self-publishing example in the supplied official material is Layers of Fear (2023); the Silent Hill 2 remake is a Bloober-developed Konami partnership, not a Bloober self-published release.
