The useful AI gadgets in 2026 are the ones that remove a repeated step: glasses that handle a call without a phone, a scale that turns measurements into trends, or a home system that coordinates routines. Camera glasses still demand privacy compromises, health devices can add subscriptions, and many CES robots remain demonstrations rather than products you can buy. The guide below labels each item as shipping, announced, demonstrated, or category so you can separate practical purchases from prototypes.
How to judge whether an AI gadget is actually useful
Novelty is not a benefit by itself. Evaluate each device against the task it removes, the friction it adds, and what happens when its cloud service, battery or subscription is unavailable.
- Repeated task: Does it remove phone retrieval, manual logging, routine scheduling or another action you perform every day?
- Measurable output: Look for a clear result such as call handling, navigation, a trend report or an automated routine.
- Comfort and endurance: Wearables must be comfortable for the hours you intend to use them; announced battery figures are not independent test results.
- Privacy: Cameras, microphones, health measurements and always-on assistants need visible recording indicators, understandable controls and a data policy you accept.
- Compatibility and support: A smart-home agent is only as useful as the appliances, phones and services it can control, and a prototype has no reliable repair or update path.

AI glasses you can use for calls, capture and assistance
1. Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses — shipping
This camera-free, open-audio model targets the simplest daily win: answer a call, hear a message or ask an assistant without taking out your phone. Meta lists a 43-gram frame, up to 12 hours per charge and up to 48 additional hours from the charging case. The announced starting price is $349 (Meta, 2026). Open speakers keep your ears available for traffic and conversation, but people nearby may hear loud playback and microphones still require considerate use. Confirm prescription-lens support, regional availability and the phone connection your assistant needs before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 — shipping/announced specification
Gen 3 adds a camera and 3K video to the audio-glasses idea, along with Meta AI. Meta announces up to nine hours of battery and a $449 starting price (Meta, 2026). It is most useful when a quick first-person clip, visual question or hands-free call is worth more than the privacy and charging burden of a camera on your face. Use the frame’s recording indicator, tell people when you are filming, and check local rules for recording in private spaces.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Meta Ray-Ban Display — announced, regional availability volatile
The display-equipped model is aimed at information you can see without looking down: hands-free navigation, a call hologram and Dolby Atmos capture updates are among the announced capabilities. Availability can change by country, so treat any listing as a local-stock question rather than a global launch. A private display may reduce phone glances, but evaluate brightness, prescription options, weight and how long the display works before you commit.
4. Oakley Meta glasses — announced lineup
Oakley styles extend Meta’s AI-glasses family toward active and sport use. The available announcement confirms the product family and new styles, but does not establish a complete specification for every model. Compare each frame’s fit, lens treatment, camera indicator, battery and water resistance at the time of purchase; do not assume one Oakley model has the same capabilities as another.
5. Meta glasses by EssilorLuxottica — announced collection
Meta says its collection with EssilorLuxottica expanded with Capri and Nova styles and entered additional markets. The practical benefit is choice of frame shape and lens configuration rather than a fundamentally different assistant. Verify local stock, prescription-lens availability and return terms, because those can differ even when the software is the same.

6. Snap SPECS AR glasses — demonstrated/announced platform
Snap describes SPECS as standalone spatial-computing glasses with a 51-degree field of view, 7-millisecond motion-to-photon latency, contextual AI, directions and a private display. Snap quotes up to four hours of mixed use, with four additional case charges (Snap, 2026). CEO Evan Spiegel said, “SPECS put computing into the world, where life actually happens,” and also, “SPECS are not designed to replace the world.” Those statements capture the intended role: glanceable context, not a sealed virtual reality visor. Snap also says, “Privacy has to be built in from the very beginning.” Treat the product as demonstrated until a retail date, regional pricing, prescription support and service policy are published.
Wellness and health gadgets: useful trends, not diagnoses
7. Withings Body Scan 2 — announced
The announced $600 smart scale is designed to make regular measurements easier to interpret. The Associated Press reports 60 biomarkers in 90 seconds and an accompanying app priced at $10 per month or $100 per year (AP, 2026). That combination can reveal personal trends that a single weigh-in hides, but it does not turn a consumer scale into a diagnostic device. Before subscribing, check which features stop working without the app, where data is stored, how accounts can be deleted and whether every household member can maintain a separate profile.
8. AI health and longevity wearables — CES category
Health and longevity technology was a major CES theme, spanning sensors, coaching and continuous measurement. The useful buying test is narrower than the marketing: identify the exact sensor, the validation evidence for the metric you care about, the app fee and the export or deletion controls. A wellness trend can support a conversation with a clinician; it should not replace clinical testing or treatment decisions.

AI that coordinates a home
9. LG ThinQ Claw — announced
ThinQ Claw is described as a text-chat agent that understands intent and context, then coordinates relevant LG services and devices. Instead of issuing separate commands, you could express an outcome such as preparing the home for bedtime and let the agent select supported actions. Its usefulness depends on which appliances, accounts and regional services are connected, so map your actual LG devices before expecting whole-home automation.

10. LG AI Home and Homey hub ecosystem — shipping ecosystem, support varies
The AI Home approach uses schedules, routines, appliance state, sensors and services to recommend or trigger actions. Homey interoperability is intended to connect devices from multiple brands, reducing the need for one-vendor hardware. Setup still matters: name devices consistently, create an explicit manual override, and test what happens when internet access fails. Automation that changes heating, locks or cooking appliances should require confirmation rather than a fully autonomous rule.
11. Contextual AI home appliances — category
This category applies the same idea directly inside appliances: the system learns usage patterns and schedules, then recommends a setting or coordinates another device. The benefit is fewer repetitive adjustments; the risk is opaque cloud processing and incorrect assumptions about a household’s routine. Prefer products that show the reason for a recommendation, let you disable learning, retain local controls and document update support.

Robots and assistants: distinguish a demo from a product
12. Razer Project Motoko — in development
Project Motoko is an AI-powered over-ear gaming headset and general assistant demonstrated at CES. The Associated Press reported that it remained in development with a planned 2026 release (AP, 2026). Until final specifications appear, there is no confirmed battery figure, price, latency, platform support or repair policy. Consider it a sign of where gaming assistants are heading, not a purchase recommendation.
13. Razer Project Ava — in development
Ava is presented as a small glass-tube desk companion with a camera and speakers for gaming advice and life organization. Its camera makes placement and recording controls especially important, while its usefulness will depend on whether it can access the games, calendars and services you use. It remains a development product in the CES report, so wait for shipping details before treating the demonstration as a product specification.
14. Roborock Saros Rover — prototype demonstrated
Saros Rover is a stair-climbing vacuum prototype that cleaned steps in a demonstration. Stairs are a meaningful unsolved problem for robot vacuums because a conventional docked robot cannot safely move between floors. No release date was supplied, so there is no confirmed price, maintenance schedule, safety certification or replacement-parts plan. A demonstration proves the concept, not reliability across different stair materials and layouts.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
15. AI-enabled robotic vacuums — category
Current AI-vacuum shopping should focus on navigation, obstacle avoidance, room mapping, dock automation and the work you still have to do yourself. Ask whether the robot recognizes cables and pet messes, how often brushes and bags need service, whether maps stay local or go to a cloud account, and how it handles a stuck wheel. Stair-climbing remains experimental in the cited CES coverage; most shipping models still require you to move the robot between floors.
16. AI companion robots shown at CES — demonstrated category
CES displayed companion robots and assistants aimed at conversation, reminders and household help. Their practical value cannot be judged from a short stage demonstration. Require a shipping date, update and support policy, clear microphone and camera controls, account portability and a way to delete conversation history. If any of those are missing, the device is an experiment rather than dependable home infrastructure.
Display and processing platforms behind the next wave
17. AI audio glasses across the 2026 market — category
Beyond any one frame brand, audio glasses offer open-ear listening, calls and an assistant while leaving you connected to the environment. Compare microphone clarity in wind, sound leakage, nose and temple pressure, controls that work with gloves, battery endurance and compatibility with both your phone and preferred assistant. The category is attractive when phone retrieval is frequent; it is less compelling if you already use comfortable earbuds and rarely need hands-free access.
18. Private-display AR glasses — category with demonstrations
Private-display glasses target a personal screen for work, cinema, sports and gaming. Snap SPECS and Meta’s display glasses illustrate the use case, but the buying variables are highly visible: field of view, resolution, weight, brightness, prescription support, tethering to a phone or computer and battery life. A wide field of view can feel more immersive, while a lighter, tethered design may be easier to wear for a full work session. Confirm the exact device and connection standard before assuming a laptop, console or phone will drive it.
19. On-device AI wearables using Snapdragon platforms — enabling technology
Qualcomm describes wearable and personal-AI devices that process information locally for private, contextual, always-on behavior. Local processing can reduce latency and limit what leaves the device, but a platform capability does not guarantee that a finished product uses it for every task. Check which features run offline, which still require a cloud account, how models are updated and what happens when the battery-saving mode disables continuous sensing.
Buying and privacy checklist for 2026
- Confirm status: “Shipping” should have a retail listing and support terms; “announced” needs a release date; “demonstrated” or “in development” is not a buyable product; “category” describes a market direction.
- Price the complete system: Include charging cases, prescription lenses, hub hardware, app subscriptions and replacement consumables. The Withings Body Scan 2, for example, has both a device price and an ongoing app fee.
- Test the daily friction: Estimate how often you will charge, clean sensors, move a robot, correct an AI action or retrieve your phone anyway.
- Set privacy defaults: Learn the recording light or sound, microphone mute control, account permissions, retention period and deletion process before bringing a camera or health sensor into private spaces.
- Plan failure recovery: Keep manual switches for lights and appliances, maintain a non-AI way to make calls or navigate, and check whether core functions continue during an internet outage.
- Buy for your ecosystem: Verify phone operating-system support, appliance protocols, lens availability, regional services and whether exported data remains readable if you change vendors.
The strongest 2026 choices are the least theatrical: open-audio glasses for frequent calls, a wellness tracker that makes trends understandable, and a home system that reliably executes routines you already repeat. Display glasses, companion robots and stair-climbing vacuums are promising, but their value should be judged only after shipping hardware, support and privacy terms are public.
