Renting versus buying
Rent for a one-time watch
A digital rental is suited to a single viewing. Each store sets its own rental terms, so verify the price and how long you have to start and finish watching before confirming payment.
Buy for access through a retailer
A digital purchase avoids renting again for each viewing, but it is associated with the retailer and its account and terms. Do not assume a purchase transfers between stores or carries identical playback rights everywhere; check the specific offer.

Choose DVD or Blu-ray for a physical copy
A disc is an alternative if you want a physical copy rather than a digital transaction. Confirm whether the listing is DVD or Blu-ray, as well as edition, stock, and price. The cited availability page establishes that purchase options are listed, not that every edition is in stock at all times.
What is Elf?
Elf is a 2003 Warner Bros. film directed by Jon Favreau, starring Will Ferrell as Buddy, with James Caan and Bob Newhart among the cast. Apple describes Buddy as a child who is taken to the North Pole, raised among Santa’s elves, and later travels to New York to find his father. See the Apple TV US listing for its current catalog details.

Are these options available outside the US?
This guide covers US listings only. Streaming and store availability varies by country, and these sources do not establish a dependable current list for other regions. Search the service available in your country or switch the availability region on a local listing before making a decision.

- Confirm that the listing is for Elf (2003), rather than a similarly named title.
- Check the selected country, store, format, and price at checkout; catalog listings and displayed prices can change.
- For a rental, read the current viewing window. For a digital purchase, review the retailer’s account and purchase terms.
- For a disc, verify DVD versus Blu-ray, edition, availability, and shipping details.
JustWatch’s US holiday-movie guide also displayed a rent/buy listing for Elf with an October 4, 2026 service-check note; it is another dated listing, not a promise that an offer is still live. Check the guide alongside the store you plan to use.
