Choose your first Suda51 game by the kind of experience you want: start with No More Heroes for action, or The Silver Case for an experimental, story-led adventure. Neither is a universally correct starting point; they show two very different sides of the catalogue.
Which Suda51 game should you play first?
| If you want… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Action combat with side activities | No More Heroes | Marvelous describes combat alongside part-time jobs, training, and exploration, and says the combat is easy to pick up. Its cited regional page lists a Nintendo Switch version. Marvelous: No More Heroes |
| An unusual, dialogue-led story | The Silver Case | Grasshopper calls it the studio’s first game. It follows related cases through two scenarios told from different perspectives. Grasshopper Manufacture catalogue |
These are preference-based entry points, not a ranking. The catalogue includes different kinds of games, so choosing the one that fits your preferred play style is more useful than assuming every Suda51 game is an action title.
What to expect from each starting point
No More Heroes: action and side activities
Choose No More Heroes if you want the more immediately recognizable action-game loop. Marvelous describes combat as the focus, with jobs, training, and exploration alongside it. That mix gives you more than combat alone without asking you to begin with a multi-game story package. Marvelous’ regional game page lists the Switch version; availability and editions can vary by country.
The Silver Case: adventure and story
The Silver Case is an adventure rather than the action-focused option. Its scenarios and dialogue put the cases and their perspectives at the center. Grasshopper identifies it as its first title, making it a natural choice if you want to begin with the studio’s earlier work. Grasshopper Manufacture’s catalogue describes the game and its scenarios.

How the Silver Case games fit together
If you want to follow the linked stories, play The Silver Case before The 25th Ward. Grasshopper calls The 25th Ward a sequel and places its events six years later. The Silver Case 2425 package combines both games, providing a straightforward console route through the pair. Grasshopper’s page for The Silver Case 2425 documents the two-game set.

- Additional content in the form of 50 new puzzles exclusive to the Nintendo DS version.
- Classic, unpredictable and off-The-Wall gameplay created by the infamous, award-winning game designer, Suda51.
- Multiple storylines to explore via the game's 18 mysterious scenarios that unfold differently depending on your actions.
- DS functionality that enhances the thought provoking nature of the puzzles players face through the use of the stylus.
- All the puzzles from the original Japanese version of the game for PlayStation 2.
Flower, Sun, and Rain is a possible follow-up if you are curious about connections. Grasshopper says scenes in its latter half suggest that it shares a world with The Silver Case. That is a connection clue, not a stated requirement to understand the Silver Case stories. Grasshopper’s catalogue describes the link.

Where to go after your first game
If you began with No More Heroes
Play No More Heroes II after the first game: Grasshopper describes it as the sequel. Travis Strikes Again is another optional continuation. The catalogue places it seven years after a battle in No More Heroes and notes that it draws on other game worlds, so it is a sensible next stop for interested players, not a required introduction to every Suda51 game. Grasshopper’s catalogue gives these series details.
If you began with The Silver Case
Continue with The 25th Ward for the direct sequel, or try Flower, Sun, and Rain if the suggested shared-world connection interests you. The latter is optional rather than a prerequisite.
