For the Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset graphics driver, use Intel’s official Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7 page. It explicitly lists GM965 as a supported chipset. If GM965 is in a laptop or branded computer, check the computer maker’s support page for your exact model first; manufacturers may customize drivers.

For a laptop or branded computer, search the manufacturer’s support site using the exact model number. Intel notes that computer and motherboard makers may customize generic graphics drivers, so an available model-specific package may be the better match. See Intel’s legacy graphics driver guidance.
Use Intel’s generic download for Windows 7
Intel’s Windows 7 graphics-driver download names Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset among the supported products. Intel’s product description says the driver “will not function with any other product,” so confirm the chipset before installing it.
Confirm Windows version and architecture
The verified Intel download is for Windows 7; the evidence does not establish compatibility with Windows 10 or Windows 11. Intel’s discontinued graphics support table lists separate Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit entries for the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family. Those historical entries are dated October 21, 2016. Check your installed Windows version and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit, then select only a package that matches both. Intel’s discontinued graphics support table provides the historical listings.

Make sure you have the mobile GM965
“965” appears in more than one Intel product name. GM965 is the mobile chipset; Intel’s operating-system table separately identifies the desktop Intel 82Q965 GMCH. A similar model number is not enough to establish that a driver is right. Check the full chipset name in your system information or computer specifications, and consult Intel’s supported operating systems table if you need to distinguish product entries.
Download and install
- Identify the computer: Find its exact manufacturer and model, and check the maker’s support page for a graphics driver matching the installed Windows version and architecture.
- Verify the chipset: Confirm that the graphics hardware is Mobile Intel GM965 rather than another 965-series product.
- Match the operating system: If using Intel’s verified package, confirm the system runs Windows 7 and select the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit package where applicable.
- Install the matching package: Follow the installer’s prompts. If the maker supplies a model-specific package, use that instead of assuming the generic Intel package is interchangeable.
What this download covers
The confirmed GM965 listing is for a graphics driver, not a general driver bundle. It does not establish which chipset INF, audio, network, or other device drivers a particular computer needs. For those devices, use the exact-model support page or identify each device separately.
