The clearest current legal way to buy Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The collection includes Vice City alongside Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Rockstar released the collection on November 11, 2021, and sells it through official console stores and the Rockstar Games Launcher. Mobile editions are also available for iOS and Android, while physical copies are documented for selected consoles.
What you are buying
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is the modern official package for playing Vice City. Rockstar describes it as “Three iconic cities, three epic stories.” Its Vice City episode is the 1980s crime story centered on Tommy Vercetti, described by Rockstar as “the story of one man’s rise to the top of the criminal pile.”
The collection launched on November 11, 2021. It contains:
- Grand Theft Auto III
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
That bundle is the safest present-tense recommendation because official store availability for the original 2002-era release varies by platform and region. Rockstar support does list standalone Vice City as a supported PC title in the Rockstar Games Launcher, but a local storefront may show a different edition, price or purchase option.

Official places to buy GTA Vice City
Use the store attached to the device on which you intend to play. Rockstar’s launch announcement identifies four authorized digital channels for the trilogy.

On a PlayStation console, search the PlayStation Store for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The collection is the documented digital route for obtaining Vice City. The store page determines which console versions and entitlements your account receives.

Playing on PS5
Rockstar’s current platform material covers PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but PS5 access can depend on the specific store version and backward-compatibility entitlement. Before purchase, open the local listing on the PS5 itself and check the supported platform label, included versions and any upgrade language. Do not assume that a PS4 disc automatically supplies a PS5 download; the console and product listing control that behavior.
Physical option
Rockstar documented a physical PS4 edition of the Trilogy. If you buy a disc, verify the regional release, disc condition and whether the listing is for the trilogy rather than a different used copy of an older standalone game. A PS5 without a disc drive cannot use a physical PS4 disc.

Xbox: One and Series X|S
Digital purchase
The Microsoft Store is the official digital channel. Its listing includes Vice City – The Definitive Edition as part of the trilogy and marks the Xbox version as optimized for Series X|S. The exact entitlement, installation size and edition label shown to you can vary by account region and console generation, so read the local listing before checkout.
Physical purchase
Physical Xbox editions are documented for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Confirm whether a used listing contains the correct disc and whether your console has an optical drive. A disc-based purchase is tied to the platform family printed on the packaging; check the publisher, included games and region before buying.
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s eShop is the official digital route for Switch. Rockstar also documented a physical Switch edition. Search for the complete trilogy title rather than assuming a listing called only “Vice City” is the modern console release.
For a cartridge, check the box for the included games, region and any required download. Some physical game releases can require additional storage or an internet connection; rely on the package and local retailer listing for the exact requirement rather than assuming every cartridge is identical.
PC: Rockstar Games Launcher
Rockstar support lists both the trilogy and standalone Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as supported PC titles in the Rockstar Games Launcher. This makes the launcher the authoritative place to check whether your account can buy or download the standalone release in your region, or whether the trilogy is the available product.

How to buy and install
- Install the Rockstar Games Launcher from Rockstar’s official PC distribution channel and sign in to the Rockstar account you will use to play.
- Open the store or library and search for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Also search for standalone Grand Theft Auto: Vice City if you specifically want the single game.
- Read the edition name, supported operating-system information, territory restrictions and refund terms shown for your account.
- Complete the purchase through the launcher, then install the title from your library.
- Keep the launcher and game account available for any sign-in or ownership verification the product requires.
The existence of a supported launcher entry does not establish one universal PC price or a single set of hardware requirements. Your regional listing is the current authority for those details.

Rockstar’s platform and support materials document mobile editions for iOS and Android. Search the Apple App Store or Google Play listing available in your country, and check the current operating-system requirement, compatible device list, storage requirement and publisher name before purchasing.
Mobile availability is separate from console and PC ownership. Buying the trilogy on a console store does not automatically grant a mobile copy, and a mobile purchase does not automatically grant a PC or console entitlement. Use the account and storefront associated with the device you will use.
GTA+ and mobile access
Rockstar says, “GTA+ grants Members access to the GTA+ Games Library — a rotating selection of Rockstar Games titles.” That means membership is not a permanent guarantee that Vice City will be included. Check the current GTA+ library, your membership platform and the mobile listing before subscribing for this game specifically. A rotating-library benefit can change without changing the underlying retail purchase options.
Is the original Vice City still available?
There are two different questions: whether an old standalone edition exists for a platform, and whether it is currently offered for sale in your region. Rockstar’s original game material mentions legacy families including PlayStation 2, Xbox, Mac, iOS, Android and Kindle. Those references document historical platform support; they are not proof that every old edition remains in a current storefront.

For present-day buying, treat the Trilogy – The Definitive Edition as the default official product. On PC, Rockstar support separately lists standalone Vice City as a supported launcher title, so check the launcher for your account if you want that version. On consoles, the current local store listing is more reliable than an old platform page or a reseller’s description.

- Do not confuse a used disc with a digital entitlement; the disc may be required every time you play and may not include a newer-generation license.
- Check that the product contains Vice City; some listings use abbreviated names or sell a different Grand Theft Auto title.

Choosing GTA+ without checking the library
The GTA+ Games Library rotates. Confirm the current inclusion of Vice City and the membership platform before treating the subscription as your access method.
