Check Gallery > Menu > Recycle bin and restore the picture if it is still there. If not, check My Files and any separate photo service—such as Google Photos or OneDrive—that may have a copy.
Where Samsung Gallery puts deleted pictures
Deleting a picture in Samsung Gallery does not usually remove it immediately: it moves to Gallery’s Recycle bin. Samsung Canada says items remain in the Bin for 30 days and are then automatically permanently deleted. The retention statement is from Samsung Canada’s guidance updated June 18, 2026, and app labels can vary by Galaxy model, software version, carrier, and region. Restore a picture from Gallery
- Open Gallery.
- Tap Menu, then Recycle bin. If your version uses a different label, look for Trash or Bin.
- Select the picture and tap Restore.
Check My Files’ Recycle bin
Samsung’s One UI 6.0 guidance says My Files > Recycle bin can show deleted items from My Files, Gallery, and Voice Recorder. Open My Files, tap Recycle bin, select the picture if it appears, and use Restore. The instructions are for One UI 6.0; menus and availability may differ on other versions. Check other photo services separately
Samsung Gallery, Google Photos, and OneDrive do not share one universal trash folder. The relevant place to look depends on which app deleted the picture and whether it was backed up or synced to that service. Check only accounts and services you used for the photo.

Google Photos
In Google Photos, open Collections > Trash and look for the picture. Google says an item still in Trash may be restored to the Google Photos library and the phone’s Gallery. Whether a phone copy remains or is removed can depend on backup status and which app performed the deletion, so a Gallery deletion does not guarantee that a Google Photos copy exists. OneDrive
Samsung says Gallery Sync with OneDrive ended on September 30, 2026. Previously synced photos and videos remain in the OneDrive account, but new Gallery photos no longer sync through that feature. If a copy was synced and later deleted from OneDrive, check that account’s Recycle bin. Samsung’s current US support guidance states a 93-day recovery period for deleted OneDrive photos and videos; this is a separate retention period from Samsung Gallery’s 30 days. If the picture is missing from every bin
First make sure you checked the correct app and account. If the picture is absent from the relevant bins, or a bin was emptied or its retention period expired, the official instructions above do not promise recovery. Do not assume that connecting the phone to a computer or installing a recovery app will retrieve a permanently deleted picture; the cited guidance establishes no such recovery guarantee.
