What is the new Helldivers movie release date?
GamesRadar reported on October 1, 2026 that Sony shifted the film’s release to June 9, 2028. The reported date is about seven months later than the November 10, 2027 date that had appeared on Sony’s earlier investor schedule.

Sony’s investor schedule lists November 10, 2027, and cautions that release dates and titles may change. Because that schedule predates the October report, it reflects the earlier date rather than disproving the reported revision. The new date and casting update have been reported by entertainment outlets; the cited Sony material does not itself announce the change.
Who is starring in the Helldivers film?
Alan Ritchson is reported to star in the film, replacing Jason Momoa. TheWrap reported on September 18, 2026 that Ritchson was in talks for the role. The October 1 GamesRadar report described his casting as confirmed, but the sources cited here do not include a primary Sony casting announcement.

Momoa’s departure was reported on June 8, 2026, while the film was still moving forward and Sony was continuing its casting process. At that time, the listed release date was still November 10, 2027, according to TheWrap’s report.
What else is known about the movie?
Justin Lin is reported to direct. Sony corporate material says preparations for a Helldivers film adaptation had begun and identifies Helldivers as a game IP owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The franchise connection is documented in Sony’s investor material.
The available reporting does not establish that filming has started, give a shooting schedule, explain the reported delay, or provide a substantiated final plot synopsis. Those details should be treated as unknown rather than inferred from the game.
