The Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED is a premium wireless gaming headset aimed at players who prioritize positional detail, clear voice chat and flexible connections. It combines 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth and 3.5 mm analog audio, works with PC, macOS and PlayStation 5, and adds a detachable boom microphone, graphene drivers and extensive EQ controls. Its main compromises are equally important: the leatherette pads can run warm, battery estimates vary by measurement method, and it lacks active noise cancellation, simultaneous multipoint and a dedicated chat mix.
Use those trade-offs as a buying checklist. A headset at this price should be judged on connection latency, platform support, microphone processing, realistic battery testing, comfort over several hours, sound tuning, controls and return terms—not on a single headline specification.
What the Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED offers
The Pro X3 is an over-ear headset with three ways to carry audio. Its USB-A 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED receiver is intended for gaming, Bluetooth 5.3 handles compatible phones, tablets and computers, and a 3.5 mm cable provides a wired fallback. Tom’s Guide lists support for PC, macOS and PlayStation 5. Check the exact platform list for the edition you are buying, because console support is not automatically implied by a USB connector.
Logitech’s feature set includes 50 mm PRO-G graphene drivers, a detachable articulated boom and a full-bandwidth 48 kHz/16-bit omnidirectional microphone. The microphone works with BLUE VO!CE settings in Logitech G HUB, while the headset’s 10-band parametric equalizer lets you adjust individual frequency bands rather than choosing only from fixed presets. Rotating memory-foam ear cups can be fitted with leatherette or velour pads.

Tom’s Guide records a 20–20,000 Hz frequency-response specification and a weight of 12.5 ounces. Those figures describe the product on paper; they do not predict how hot the pads will feel, how firmly the headband clamps or whether a particular game’s mix will sound natural.
Price, positioning and value
Logitech lists the headset at $249.99 in its US store and £229.99 in its UK store. These are regional list prices accessed in 2026, not a guarantee of what every retailer charges. Compare the current street price, warranty and return window at the time you buy. A temporary discount can change the value calculation, while a short or expensive return policy makes comfort problems riskier.
At this tier, you are paying for a combination of low-latency wireless, construction, microphone processing and tuning control rather than for one exclusive feature. A less expensive headset may provide adequate wireless sound but use a simpler microphone or omit Bluetooth. A similarly priced competitor may add ANC, a broader device ecosystem or a longer measured runtime. Decide which of those differences matters before comparing discounts.
Buying criteria that matter most
1. Connection type and latency
For competitive play, a dedicated 2.4 GHz receiver is generally the connection to prioritize. It is designed for consistent, low-delay game audio and voice chat. Bluetooth is useful for music, calls or a second device, but Bluetooth modes can introduce more delay or behave differently with microphone use. Ask whether the headset can maintain the gaming link you need while another device is paired; the Pro X3 does not provide simultaneous multipoint according to Tom’s Guide.
A 3.5 mm input is valuable when a battery is empty, when a controller has a headset jack, or when a device does not support the wireless receiver. Wired operation can change available controls and processing, so confirm which features remain active over analog audio.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
2. Platform compatibility
Confirm compatibility for every system you intend to use. The Pro X3 is listed for PC, macOS and PlayStation 5. On a desktop, check whether the USB-A receiver fits directly or requires an adapter or hub. On a console, verify that the console accepts the receiver and that game/chat balance is available through the platform or headset controls. Do not assume that Bluetooth will replace the receiver for console game audio; console Bluetooth support is restricted on many systems.
3. Microphone pickup and processing
Specifications tell you that the Pro X3 uses a 48 kHz/16-bit omnidirectional boom, but they do not establish how your teammates will hear you. Look for independent listening tests that discuss consonant clarity, background-noise rejection, plosive control and consistency when the boom is moved. BLUE VO!CE settings in G HUB provide processing controls, so you can shape tone and dynamics instead of accepting the raw capsule sound.

T3 reviewer Max Freeman-Mills described this microphone as “best-in-class” in its price bracket and possibly the strongest option at that price. That is one reviewer’s tested opinion, not a laboratory ranking or a promise that every voice and room will produce the same result. If voice chat is central to your use, prioritize the boom’s placement, mute behavior and software compatibility alongside the quoted sample rate.
4. Battery claims and test method
Battery numbers are not directly comparable unless the conditions match. Logitech’s current specification claims up to 70 hours of wireless use, while Tom’s Guide lists a 50-hour rated figure. The difference may reflect test settings, volume, lighting, wireless mode or the definition of “up to.” Treat the manufacturer figure as a best-case claim and the editorial rating as a separate reference point, not as proof that one source is wrong.
Before buying, check whether runtime is quoted with lighting enabled, at a stated volume, and with Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz. Also check charging time, whether the headset can play while charging, and whether wired audio works when the battery is depleted. If you regularly play long sessions away from a charger, measured endurance and a usable wired fallback matter more than the largest advertised number.

5. Comfort, clamp and heat
The Pro X3 uses rotating memory-foam cups and can be fitted with leatherette or velour pads. Memory foam can distribute pressure well, but pad material changes heat retention and seal. Tom’s Guide found the headset comfortable and well built overall, while also noting that the earcups can become hot. That trade-off is especially relevant in warm rooms or sessions lasting several hours.
- Measure the fit over your glasses, if you wear them; a strong seal can increase pressure on the frames.
- Check whether the headband distributes weight without creating a hotspot.
- Prefer a return policy that allows a genuine multi-hour comfort test.
- Consider velour pads if heat is a recurring problem, while recognizing that pad changes can alter bass response and isolation.
6. Sound signature and equalization
Tom’s Guide found an expansive treble presentation and strong imaging, with a default tuning that helps reveal positional cues in first-person shooters. The same review warns that the highs can become harsh. This makes the headset attractive to competitive players who need to locate footsteps or shots, but less universally comfortable for listeners who are sensitive to bright treble.
The 10-band parametric EQ in G HUB is more useful than a collection of vague “bass boost” presets because it allows targeted changes. Start with a small cut to frequencies that sound sharp rather than making a large bass increase that can mask detail. Save separate profiles for competitive games, single-player titles and music, and judge each profile at your normal listening volume.
Do not equate a virtual 7.1 mode with a true multi-speaker surround system. Virtual processing can change tonal balance and positional cues, and its usefulness varies by game. Compare stereo and virtual modes with the same game, then keep the mode that gives you the most reliable directional information.
7. Features that are missing can matter
Tom’s Guide specifically notes the absence of active noise cancellation, simultaneous multipoint and chat mix. ANC is useful for engine noise, HVAC systems or shared rooms, but it is not required for competitive imaging and can affect sound character. Multipoint lets a headset maintain active links to two devices; without it, switching between a computer and phone may require manual reconnection. Chat mix provides a hardware or software balance between game audio and voice chat; without it, you may need to adjust levels in the operating system, game or console.

Make a short list of features you will use weekly. A missing feature that sounds minor in a specification table can become a daily annoyance if it is part of your routine.
8. Weight, controls and wired fallback
At 12.5 ounces, the listed weight is within the range many users accept for an over-ear gaming headset, but weight distribution matters as much as the number. Check where the battery and receiver electronics sit, whether the earcups rotate for storage, and whether the controls can be reached without shifting the headset.
Confirm that the boom is detachable and articulated, as the Pro X3’s is. Detachability helps when storing the headset or using it for listening without a microphone. Verify mute feedback, volume control and cable placement before purchase. A 3.5 mm fallback is useful only if the included cable reaches your controller or computer and preserves the functions you need.
9. Return policy and street price
Wireless headsets are personal-fit products. Read the seller’s return period, restocking rules and warranty coverage before opening the package. Keep the box and accessories until you have tested wireless range, microphone quality, comfort and charging. Compare the final delivered price in your region rather than relying on a US or UK list price.

What independent testing says about performance
Tom’s Guide describes the Pro X3 as fantastic-sounding, with expansive treble and strong imaging for competitive players. Its testing also found impressive wireless range and a comfortable, well-built design. In that test environment, the receiver remained usable at approximately 98 feet (30 meters). Walls, radio interference and the placement of the receiver can reduce range in a real home, so treat that figure as a test result rather than a guaranteed distance.

The same review identified three practical weaknesses: battery life was mediocre compared with similarly priced competition, the earcups could become hot, and the headset lacked ANC, simultaneous multipoint and chat mix. Those observations are more useful than a simple score because they identify the situations in which the headset may frustrate you.
How to decide whether it fits your use
Choose it when competitive clarity is the priority
The Pro X3 is a strong candidate for PC or PlayStation 5 players who want clear positional imaging, a long-range 2.4 GHz link, a detachable boom and detailed EQ control. Its treble-forward default can make directional cues easier to identify, and BLUE VO!CE gives you tools to refine chat output.
Look elsewhere when features outweigh imaging
Consider a headset with ANC and broader device-management features if you play in a noisy room or switch between a computer and phone throughout the day. Tom’s Guide’s findings mean you should not buy the Pro X3 expecting simultaneous multipoint or a dedicated chat-mix control.
Look elsewhere when heat or maximum runtime is decisive
If your room is hot or your sessions are very long, prioritize cooler pad materials, independently measured endurance and easy charging. The Pro X3’s leatherette pads may feel warm, and its published battery figures should be interpreted with their different test contexts in mind.
Alternatives identified in independent coverage
| Option | Why consider it | Trade-off relative to the Pro X3 |
|---|---|---|
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni | T3 recommends considering it when more features and ANC matter. | Choose it for feature breadth rather than assuming it will match the Pro X3’s exact tuning or microphone character. |
| Glorious GHS Wireless InfinitePlay | T3 identifies it as a cheaper option. | Lower price may be more important than the Pro X3’s premium construction and microphone quality. |
These are decision points, not universal winners. Compare each model’s current price, platform support, battery test method, return policy and the features you actually use.
A practical pre-purchase checklist
- List every source device. Write down your PC, Mac, console, phone and controller, then verify which one will use 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth or 3.5 mm.
- Set your priorities. Rank microphone quality, imaging, comfort, battery, ANC, multipoint and chat balance instead of treating every specification as equally important.
- Check the fit materials. Decide whether leatherette isolation or cooler velour is more suitable for your room and session length.
- Read battery conditions. Record whether the quoted runtime uses 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, lighting and a stated volume.
- Plan your EQ. Make sure the required G HUB software runs on your operating system and reserve time to test stereo against any virtual surround mode.
- Verify the return window. Keep packaging until you have tested comfort, range, microphone clarity and charging.
- Compare the delivered price. Use the local price and warranty, not an outdated list price from another country.
Bottom line
The Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED is worth considering when low-latency wireless, strong competitive imaging, a capable boom microphone and detailed EQ control are more important than ANC, multipoint, chat mix or the coolest possible earcups. Its specifications are flexible and its independent testing is favorable on sound, range and build, but the conflicting battery figures and warm leatherette pads deserve careful attention. Buy it for the specific strengths that match your play style, and use the return policy as part of your comfort test.
