If your Mt. Gox repayment has not arrived, first check the authenticated Online Rehabilitation Claim Filing System. Confirm the repayment type, selected channel, registered bank or fund-transfer details, designated exchange account, and every correction request. The current MTGOX homepage lists October 31, 2027 (Japan Time) as the deadline for Base, Early Lump-Sum, and Intermediate Repayments. A missed payment does not by itself mean your claim was lost: trustee notices identify account corrections, validation, exchange arrangements, and safety checks as common gates.
Start with the official claim record
Open claims.mtgox.com by typing the address yourself. Do not use a link in an unsolicited email or social-media message. The site is the trustee’s Online Rehabilitation Claim Filing System and is the primary place to see your creditor-specific status and submit an inquiry.
- Sign in to the claims system.
- Open the repayment or claim-status section.
- Record the creditor number, repayment type, amount displayed, dates, selected repayment method, and every status message.
- Check the registered bank or fund-transfer details and the designated cryptocurrency-exchange account information character by character.
- Save screenshots or downloaded notices, plus any rejection message and transaction reference supplied by a bank or exchange.
The trustee says inquiries can also be made without logging in, but an authenticated inquiry makes it easier to verify that you are the creditor. Never send passwords, identity documents, bank credentials, seed phrases, or wallet keys to someone who contacts you about an “unlock” or “release” payment.

What the current deadline means
The official MTGOX homepage currently says the deadlines for Base Repayment, Early Lump-Sum Repayment, and Intermediate Repayment were changed from October 31, 2026 (Japan Time) to October 31, 2027 (Japan Time). This is a program deadline, not a promise that every individual transfer will arrive on that date. The public notices reviewed do not provide a creditor-specific reissue or bank-return schedule, so no one can reliably promise you an arrival date without checking your account record.

Progress has been substantial but uneven. The Rehabilitation Trustee reported that more than 19,000 creditors had received BTC or BCH repayments by August 21, 2024. On March 27, 2025, the trustee reported more than 19,500 creditors had received BTC or BCH and said cash-proceeds repayments were also being made to some eligible creditors. Those aggregate figures do not confirm the status of an individual claim.
Why a repayment can be delayed
Trustee notices describe several conditions that can hold a payment while other creditors are paid:
- Required correction or action: the registered information may need to be corrected or an outstanding procedure completed.
- Account validation: the trustee or receiving institution may still be checking that the account belongs to the eligible creditor and can legally receive the funds.
- Agency-receipt acceptance: a creditor may need to accept the arrangement under which an exchange receives cryptocurrency on the creditor’s behalf.
- Trustee–exchange discussions: operational or compliance details between the trustee and a designated exchange may not yet be complete.
- Safe-processing checks: the trustee has said it is taking time to ensure repayment is safe and reliable before release.

A status such as pending, under review, correction required, or awaiting validation should therefore be read together with the instructions shown in your authenticated record. Do not assume that a delay means a rejection, and do not submit conflicting account information through an outside contact.
Identify the repayment channel before troubleshooting
Different channels have different failure points. Your claims-system record should show which one applies to you.

If the status says action or correction is required
Follow the authenticated correction request
Use the exact correction workflow displayed after sign-in. Re-enter details from official bank or exchange records rather than relying on an old email. Check spelling, account-holder name, account number, branch or routing information, address, and identity details. Submit the correction once, save the confirmation or reference number, and monitor the status for a new validation result.

Do not create a second claim
A new account, duplicate inquiry, or change made through an unverified message can create additional identity questions. The trustee’s notices indicate that repayments to other creditors proceed after required corrections and account validation; your task is to complete the request already attached to your claim.

Ask through the system when the instruction is unclear
Use the system’s FAQ or inquiry form and include your creditor number, repayment type, displayed status, date of the message, and the specific field you cannot correct. You can submit an inquiry without logging in, but use the authenticated route whenever you can.
If a bank or payment provider rejected or returned the money
Get a written result from the receiving institution
Contact the bank or fund-transfer provider named in your claim record. Provide the transaction reference, amount, currency, value date, and beneficiary details. Ask which of these describes the event:

- the transfer was rejected before crediting;
- the money was returned to the sender;
- the funds are held for compliance or identity review;
- the account was closed, frozen, or ineligible; or
- the transfer was credited to another account.
Ask for the institution’s response in writing, including any return date or reference. Send that response through the trustee inquiry channel and keep the original. A name mismatch, closed account, ineligible account, or request for additional information can all prevent crediting.
When the account was wrong
If the registered beneficiary data was incorrect, do not ask the bank to redirect funds to an unrelated account. Follow the correction request in the claims system and tell the trustee exactly what the receiving institution reported. The public procedure notice says that when a creditor cannot take receipt, the amount may be deposited with Japan’s Legal Affairs Bureau. That possibility is not a personal reissue timetable; only the trustee can tell you what disposition applies to your claim.

If your cryptocurrency exchange cannot find the claim
Separate exchange support from trustee decisions
An exchange can investigate its own account, identity, deposit, or compliance records, but it cannot rewrite the underlying Mt. Gox claim. Kraken’s support FAQ, last updated March 31, 2025, states: “It is not possible for Kraken to make any changes to a MtGox claim or the details associated with your claim like address or email.” For a Kraken-linked claim, use Kraken only for exchange-account questions and send claim disputes, missing claim records, or claims-site access problems to the trustee help desk.

Information to give the exchange
- Your exchange username or account identifier, not your password.
- The email address associated with the exchange account.
- The transaction or repayment reference shown by the trustee.
- The asset involved, such as BTC or BCH, and the date or status displayed.
- Any notice that the account is unverified, restricted, closed, or not eligible to receive the repayment.
Ask whether the exchange accepted the transfer, rejected it, returned it, or placed it under compliance review. Send the exchange’s answer to the trustee; changing an exchange profile alone does not change the claim record.
How to handle a missing payment with no rejection notice
- Confirm the channel and amount in the claims system.
- Check whether the status is awaiting correction, validation, agency-receipt acceptance, or trustee–exchange processing.
- Verify that the registered payee or exchange identity still matches the receiving account.
- Ask the receiving institution to search by reference, amount, currency, and value date, and request a written result.
- Submit one complete inquiry to the trustee with your creditor number, screenshots, dates, references, and the institution’s response.
- Keep monitoring the authenticated system for a reply or a new correction request.
Do not infer that a missing bank credit is cryptocurrency loss, and do not send a second payment to “activate” a repayment. The trustee’s published notices do not establish an individual creditor’s reissue timeline.
Protect yourself from impersonation scams
The official homepage warns about fraudulent websites and emails impersonating MTGOX or the Rehabilitation Trustee. Type mtgox.com or claims.mtgox.com yourself, check the spelling of the domain, and sign in only through the authenticated system. A legitimate issue should be visible there or handled through the trustee help desk.
- Reject messages demanding a fee, seed phrase, wallet credential, password, or remote-access session.
- Do not upload identity documents or bank details to a look-alike domain.
- Do not click a “release,” “unlock,” or “verification” link delivered unexpectedly.
- Save the suspicious message, sender address, and URL so you can report the impersonation without opening it again.
What to include in a trustee inquiry
A precise inquiry reduces back-and-forth. Include:
- creditor number and the email used for the claim;
- repayment category and selected channel;
- amount and currency shown in the system;
- the exact status text and date displayed;
- registered bank, provider, or exchange name;
- transaction, rejection, or return references;
- the receiving institution’s written explanation; and
- the specific outcome you need clarified, such as correction, validation, return, or reissue procedure.
Redact passwords, full authentication codes, seed phrases, and unnecessary financial information. Keep your own copies of every submission and response.
What the evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The trustee’s reported totals show that repayments are continuing across BTC, BCH, and some cash-proceeds cases, but they cannot predict an individual arrival date. The current deadline is October 31, 2027 Japan Time, yet a creditor may still be waiting on a correction, validation, exchange arrangement, or safe-processing decision. The reliable path is to reconcile the authenticated status with the receiving institution’s written response and then ask the trustee to resolve the mismatch.
