Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →If you think someone else has accessed your Airbnb, Uber, or Google account, use the service’s official app or type its address yourself. If you can still sign in, change the password to a unique one, check account activity and recovery details, and report any unrecognized charges. If you cannot sign in, use the provider’s official recovery process. A password change alone is not enough: also check devices, contact details, payment methods, and other accounts that may share the password.
The steps below reflect official help guidance available on October 7, 2026. Menus and recovery options can change or vary by region.
What to do first if an account may be compromised
- Open the service safely. Use its official app or enter its known address yourself. Do not sign in through a link in an unexpected email, text, or call. Never give a one-time verification code to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
- If you can sign in, change the password. Choose a password you do not use on any other account. Then review recent activity, devices, email and phone details, recovery methods, payment information, and any other account changes.
- If you are locked out, use official recovery. Start from the provider’s app or official help pages, not from a link sent by an unsolicited caller or message. Secure the email account that receives password-reset messages as well; it may be used to regain access.
- Change reused passwords elsewhere. Prioritize accounts that share the compromised password, especially email, payment, and other accounts used to sign in or reset credentials.
- Report suspicious transactions. Contact the service about unauthorized trips, reservations, or charges, and contact your bank or payment provider about unrecognized transactions.
- After access is restored, strengthen sign-in protection. Turn on stronger verification where available, then recheck devices and recovery details.
This sequence combines the services’ separate recommendations. Securing the recovery email early is a practical precaution because it may receive reset messages; the three providers do not describe one shared recovery sequence.
How to tell whether your account may have been accessed
Airbnb
Airbnb’s account review can help identify unfamiliar login times, devices, or locations. Check whether your contact details, profile photo, listings, payout methods, or reservations have changed. Airbnb says its review flow can help explain suspicious changes and how to undo them. Its Help Center path for login records is Account > Login & security > Device history; the list includes the browser or device, time, and location. A device notification you do not recognize is a reason to review the account and reset its password.

Google’s compromised-account guidance explains how to review activity and settings. If you cannot sign in, use its Account recovery page and answer the questions as accurately as possible. Recovery depends on the information Google can use to verify the account; completing the steps does not guarantee access will be restored.
Uber
Uber lists unrequested trip requests or completed trips, calls or texts about pickups you did not arrange, unfamiliar receipts or charges, unauthorized account or payment-profile changes, and an unrecognized password or email change as possible signs of account compromise.

What to do for each service
Airbnb: review logins, account details, and reservations
- Open Airbnb directly and follow its account review flow. Change the Airbnb password if prompted.
- Check Account > Login & security > Device history for unfamiliar devices, times, or locations.
- Verify your contact details, profile photo, listings, payout methods, and reservations. If something is wrong, Airbnb says it can help explain what changed and how to undo it.
- If the password was used on other services, change it on those accounts too.
Airbnb recommends unique passwords, current software, trusted antivirus, and entering airbnb.com directly rather than following a suspicious login link. It also advises keeping communication and payments on its platform; off-platform transactions are harder for Airbnb to help resolve. See its account security guidance.

For Airbnb support, its Help Center says users can message or chat and lists +1-415-800-5959. If concerned about an incoming call, Airbnb recommends hanging up and calling that listed number back. This is Airbnb’s published contact guidance; do not treat it as a Google or Uber number or assume it applies outside the context in which Airbnb publishes it. See Airbnb’s contact guidance.
Google: secure the account and accounts connected to it
- If signed in, open Google Account security settings and review Recent security events and Your devices.
- Investigate unfamiliar devices and correct recovery phone numbers, recovery and alternate email addresses, 2-Step Verification methods, app access, and other settings changed without your permission.
- Change the Google Account password to a unique one.
- Update passwords on accounts that reused that password, use your Google address for contact or sign-in, or have passwords saved in your Google Account.
- Once access is secure, turn on 2-Step Verification. Google lists a phone, security key, or printed code as possible second factors.
If your Google data includes bank or government information, or you suspect identity misuse, Google advises contacting your bank or local authorities. If the activity suggests harmful software may be involved, Google advises removing it; a compromised account does not by itself establish that malware caused the problem.

Uber: reset the password or use its hacked-account flow
- If you can sign in, follow App menu > Help > I can’t sign in or request a ride > I forgot my password and create a new, unique password.
- If you cannot sign in, use Uber’s hacked-account support flow. Uber asks for details to verify your identity and investigate.
- Report unauthorized trips, account changes, or payment-profile changes through the relevant Uber help route. For a bank charge not visible in your Uber account, use the separate unrecognized-charge route above.
What to check after changing your password
- Recovery access: Confirm that the account’s email, phone, and recovery options belong to you.
- Signed-in devices and activity: Review login records, security events, and devices; investigate anything unfamiliar.
- Account changes: Check profile and contact details, Airbnb listings and reservations, Google security settings and app access, or Uber account and payment-profile details.
- Payments: Look for unfamiliar charges, payout changes, or transactions. Report them to the service and your payment provider.
- Other accounts: Replace reused passwords and secure the email account used for recovery.
- Stronger sign-in protection: Enable available multi-step verification once you have secured access.
Prevent another account takeover
Use a distinct password for each account; Airbnb recommends a password manager to organize unique passwords. Keep your device software up to date, and do not enter credentials through unexpected links. Keep Airbnb communication and payments on its platform.
Google lists a security key as one possible 2-Step Verification factor. A compatible hardware security key can add a sign-in check, but it does not recover an account you are already locked out of. Set up stronger verification only after you regain access and confirm the recovery details are yours. For other security options, follow each service’s current account settings and help guidance.
