Before buying a used Lenovo Smart Clock, confirm it is the original CD-24501F, check the screen and controls, make sure its power adapter is included, and ask the seller to demonstrate that it boots and can be reset. If possible, complete Google Home setup before paying; a successful demonstration is more reassuring than a listing description.
Identify the original Lenovo Smart Clock
Check the product label or listing for model number CD-24501F. Lenovo’s official specifications describe the original model as having a 4-inch IPS touch display with 480 × 800 resolution, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and a microphone-mute toggle. It has no camera.
Do not assume details for the Smart Clock 2 or Smart Clock Essential apply to this model. Ask for a clear photo of the label if the model is not shown in the listing.
What should I check before buying a used Lenovo Smart Clock?
Inspect the display and touch response
With the clock powered on, look for cracks, lines, dark or bright patches, and image retention. Touch different parts of the screen and check that it responds consistently. Lenovo publishes the display specifications, but those specifications do not establish how often used units develop screen or touch problems.

Test the controls and microphone mute toggle
Ask the seller to demonstrate volume up and down, then operate the microphone-mute toggle. Confirm the controls respond and that the mute indicator or on-screen state changes as expected. The clock has no camera, but checking the physical mute control is still worthwhile.
Check the casing and overall condition
Look for cracks, loose parts, damaged buttons, or signs of impact. Ask about any intermittent faults and whether the clock has been exposed to liquid. A clean exterior cannot guarantee that the electronics are fault-free, so prioritize a powered-on demonstration.

Does it come with the power adapter?
Confirm the included adapter is present and ask the seller to show the clock running from it. Lenovo says the Smart Clock has no battery and relies on its power adapter, so the clock cannot be assessed as a portable, battery-powered device. Its setup and user documentation covers the supplied adapter.
If the adapter is missing or damaged, treat that as an unresolved cost and compatibility issue. The exact compatible replacement part was not established here; do not assume a generic adapter will work without verifying its connector and electrical specifications.

Ask for a factory reset and setup demonstration
Lenovo’s documented reset procedure is to hold both volume buttons for 10 seconds, then follow the on-screen instructions. Ask the seller to reset the clock before you take ownership, ideally while you watch.
- Have the seller hold both volume buttons for 10 seconds.
- Follow the instructions shown on the clock’s display.
- Where practical, use the Google Home app on a phone or tablet and a Google account to try setup on a suitable Wi-Fi network.
Lenovo describes setup through Google Home in its user guide. A setup attempt is a useful check, not a guarantee: success can depend on the current app, network, and account configuration, and present-day setup success for used units has not been independently established.

How to decide whether the asking price is reasonable
Compare the clock’s condition and completeness with current local listings for the same original CD-24501F model. Give more weight to a unit with an intact responsive screen, working controls, included adapter, and a demonstrated boot and reset. No reliable current used-market price or numeric fair-price threshold is established, so base your offer on listings available in your area rather than an assumed standard value.
Current support or security-update end dates are also not established. If continued updates or long-term support matter to your purchase, verify that information directly with Lenovo rather than treating the clock’s age or a seller’s assurance as confirmation.
