Before booking, get the exact hotel to confirm that it can accommodate your RV’s dimensions and complete vehicle setup on your travel dates. “RV-friendly” and “parking available” are not guarantees: policies vary by property, and a space may be too small, have a garage clearance limit, cost extra, or be unavailable when you arrive.

1. Confirm the exact property accepts your RV setup

Ask the specific hotel—not just the chain or booking site—whether it accepts your type of vehicle and has room for it on your dates. Clarify whether you are driving a motorhome, towing a trailer, or bringing a separate tow vehicle, and whether the trailer will stay attached or needs its own space.

Hotel policies can differ even across well-known brands. Westgate says oversized vehicles and RVs generally cannot be accommodated, subject to exceptions at specific properties (Westgate parking policy). By contrast, individual IHG and Best Western listings identify RVs, trailers, trucks, or motorcoaches as permitted vehicles (Holiday Inn Express Huntsville property information; Holiday Inn Express Grantville property information; Best Western Plus Kingman Inn & Suites property information). A chain-wide assumption is not enough.

2. Give the hotel your dimensions and configuration

Have your RV’s length and height ready, and explain the full arrangement you expect to park. Include the tow vehicle and trailer if applicable; ask whether the whole combination fits in one space or whether separate spaces are required. Request confirmation for the dates you plan to stay, since availability can depend on the property’s current conditions.

For example, the Quality Inn Winslow I-40 property says parking space is limited and asks guests with long or unusual configurations to call before booking (Quality Inn Winslow I-40 parking information). The Inn at Bellefield in Hyde Park likewise tells guests with particularly large commercial vehicles or RVs to call to confirm space availability (The Inn at Bellefield FAQ).

3. Check the parking surface and clearance

Find out whether you will park outdoors or in a garage. For a garage, ask for the clearance at the entrance and along the route to the assigned space—not only a single posted maximum. Clearance can vary within one facility: Archer Hotel Redmond reports 8-foot clearance at the entrance and through the first garage section, then 7 feet through the rest, and advises contacting the hotel about alternatives (Archer Hotel Redmond FAQ).

An outdoor lot avoids a garage ceiling, but it does not prove that a sufficiently large space is available. Confirm both the vehicle fit and the space for your specific dates. Ask about turning room and whether the parking location requires a tight approach or maneuver.

4. Find out whether parking is guaranteed and what it costs

Ask whether the hotel can reserve or hold the space for your stay, or whether parking is first come, first served. A listed parking option may not be guaranteed, especially at busy times; Westgate says availability is first come, first served at many properties and may not be guaranteed during busy periods (Westgate parking policy).

Confirm the total cost and exactly which vehicles it covers. If a listing advertises free parking, verify that the policy applies to your RV and any connected or separate trailer and tow vehicle. Property pages can provide useful details about permitted vehicle types, outdoor lots, capacity, fees, and access, but those terms are specific to each location and should be checked directly before travel (Huntsville property information; Grantville property information).

5. Confirm arrival and overnight arrangements

Before you pay, ask where to park and how to reach the space with your full vehicle setup. Confirm check-in timing, overnight access, whether you need to check in before parking, and how an unhitched trailer or separate tow vehicle should be handled. Ask whether there are restrictions that affect your intended arrival time or route through the property.

6. Compare hotels on the details that affect your trip

Once you have direct answers from each property, compare them using the same criteria:

  • Acceptance and fit: The property confirms the exact RV dimensions and configuration can be accommodated.
  • Parking type and access: The lot is outdoor or garage parking, clearance is adequate where relevant, and the route to the space works for your vehicle.
  • Availability and cost: You know whether the space is reservable or first come, first served and what all vehicles will cost.
  • Route convenience: The hotel’s location and access make sense for your route and arrival plans.

There is no universal hotel standard for RV parking; the available examples show property-specific differences, not a market-wide ranking. Parking rules, fees, clearances, and availability can change, so confirm the terms with the property for your travel dates.
