Before accepting an “instant” electronics trade-in quote, find out whether the amount is guaranteed or conditional on inspection, what happens if the provider lowers it, and whether you can get your device back. “Instant” can describe when a preliminary estimate or credit appears—not necessarily when the inspection, valuation, or transaction is final. - Record every relevant deadline and promotion condition. Check quote expiration, shipping or delivery deadlines, and any conditions attached to a new-device credit or rebate. Apple’s terms tie a 14-day receipt condition to delivery of its trade-in box. Best Buy’s terms describe a 14-day arrival window after estimate acceptance and possible changes to promotional offers. Can the trade-in value change after they inspect my device?
Yes. A provider can make the final value depend on whether inspection matches the description and criteria used for the initial quote.
