You keep the important unlocks from Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises: any Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist you successfully befriend, the Halloween furniture and habitats you purchase or build, and the Trick or Treat camera frame if you buy every listed event item. Pumpkin Candy and the event exchange activity are the temporary parts. The published event window ends November 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. local time, so use your candy before that deadline.

Pokémon you keep
Pumpkaboo stays after you befriend it
Pumpkaboo is the event’s starting Pokémon. Once you complete the interaction that lets you befriend Pumpkaboo, it is treated as a normal member of your town rather than a temporary visitor. Ending the seasonal event does not remove a Pumpkaboo you already recruited.

Gourgeist is obtained through the event’s construction route. You need to assemble the required Halloween habitat from the event furnishings, then use that habitat to attract Gourgeist. After you befriend Gourgeist, it also remains in town when the limited-time event closes. The habitat requirement is therefore more than a decorative option if your goal is to keep both event Pokémon.

The event materials do not state that Gourgeist can be attracted without this habitat, nor do they describe a second method after the event. If Gourgeist is a priority, finish the habitat and the befriending step while the event systems are active.
Furniture and habitats are lasting town objects
Pumpkin Candy can be exchanged at a Pokémon Center for Halloween-themed furnishings. Items you successfully purchase become ordinary in-game objects that you can place and use after the seasonal activity ends. A habitat you build from those furnishings is likewise a persistent town construction, so completing it is worthwhile even if you are mainly interested in the Pokémon it attracts.

Two published guides disagree about the size of the complete inventory: one describes nine items, while another refers to ten new items. Because the sources do not provide a single verified official catalog, treat the names above as the practical list reported by the guides, not as proof that no additional item exists in your version. The persistence rule applies to event furnishings you actually acquire; an item that remains unpurchased cannot be recovered by simply waiting for the event to end.
Why the habitat matters
The Halloween pieces serve two purposes. They are collectible decorations in their own right, and they form the construction materials for the habitat that attracts Gourgeist. If you are short on candy, prioritize the pieces needed for that habitat before buying optional visual items. You can return for the remaining decorations while the exchange window is open.
The Trick or Treat camera frame is a completion reward
Buying every listed event item unlocks the Trick or Treat camera frame. It is tied to completion of the item set, not to maintaining a Pumpkin Candy balance. Once unlocked, the frame is a cosmetic collection reward rather than a timed rental, so it carries forward with the rest of your saved progress.

The frame condition makes the purchase order important. Buying one copy of the items needed for Gourgeist’s habitat is enough to construct that habitat, but it may not be enough for the frame if other listed furnishings remain. Check the exchange menu for every event item and finish the set before the deadline if the cosmetic is your goal.
What is temporary
Pumpkin Candy collection
The seasonal activity awards Pumpkin Candy when you use the Camouflage move to disguise yourself as an object and surprise nearby Pokémon. This earning loop exists for the event and is not presented as a permanent town feature. When the event closes, you should assume that you can no longer farm candy through this activity.
The exchange window
The candy is exchanged for event furniture at a Pokémon Center. The exchange service is part of the same limited-time schedule, so an unspent balance may no longer be useful once the window closes. The available guides do not explicitly document whether unused Pumpkin Candy is deleted, converted, or retained for a later event. Do not treat it as confirmed permanent currency; spend it on the items you want before November 1.

What the event does not say
There is no published evidence that unbefriended Pumpkaboo or Gourgeist will be granted automatically after the deadline, that unfinished habitats will be completed for you, or that the Trick or Treat frame unlocks without buying the complete listed set. Plan around the rewards you have actually claimed, not around a possible post-event catch-up system.
Timing, access, and prerequisites
The published schedule runs from October 17, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. through November 1, 2026, at 4:59 a.m., using your local time. The guides also state that your Pokémon Center must be rebuilt before the event’s candy and exchange loop becomes available. Camouflage is the move used for the candy-earning activity.
Because the end time is early in the morning, do not wait until the date changes on your calendar. Finish purchases and any final befriending steps before 4:59 a.m. local time on November 1. If your game displays a local countdown, use that in preference to converting the deadline manually.

A deadline-safe completion plan
- Rebuild the Pokémon Center. This is the stated access requirement for the event’s exchange loop.
- Confirm Camouflage is available. You need it to disguise yourself as an object and surprise nearby Pokémon for Pumpkin Candy.
- Recruit Pumpkaboo. Complete its event interaction and verify that it is listed among your town’s befriended Pokémon.
- Earn enough candy for the habitat pieces. Buy the furnishings required to construct the Halloween habitat before spending heavily on optional decorations.
- Build the habitat and attract Gourgeist. Complete the habitat construction, then finish Gourgeist’s befriending interaction.
- Review the exchange inventory. Compare your owned items with every listed event item, allowing for the published disagreement over whether the full set contains nine or ten pieces.
- Buy the remaining pieces. Completing the listed set is the condition reported for the Trick or Treat camera frame.
- Spend leftover Pumpkin Candy. Since the post-event treatment of unused candy is not stated, use the balance before the exchange window closes.
How to prioritize if time or candy is limited
First priority: the Pokémon
Recruit Pumpkaboo and complete the Gourgeist habitat route before chasing a fully decorated town. These are the rewards that add new befriended Pokémon and require event-specific actions; simply owning spare candy at the deadline will not substitute for an unfinished befriending step.
Second priority: the Gourgeist habitat
Set aside enough candy for the construction pieces that attract Gourgeist. A visually appealing collection of unrelated items does not satisfy the habitat requirement unless it includes the furnishings needed for that construction.
Third priority: the camera frame
If you want the Trick or Treat frame, reserve candy for the rest of the listed inventory after the habitat is complete. The frame is a one-time completion cosmetic, so it is more efficient to finish the set than to buy duplicates of a favorite decoration first.

Use any remaining candy on the pieces you want for town design. Those purchases still have lasting value, but they do not replace the Pokémon befriending steps or the complete-set requirement for the frame.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Waiting for the deadline day: The event ends at 4:59 a.m. local time, not at the end of November 1. Complete the exchange earlier.
- Assuming candy carries over: No available guide confirms the fate of unused Pumpkin Candy. Spend it before the cutoff.
- Stopping after Pumpkaboo: Gourgeist has a separate habitat requirement. Build the Halloween habitat and complete its befriending step.
- Counting only the habitat items: The Trick or Treat frame requires every listed event item, not merely the pieces used in the Gourgeist habitat.
- Treating guide counts as official: Sources disagree about nine versus ten new furnishings. Use the exchange menu in your game as the final checklist.
- Leaving the Pokémon Center unrepaired: The event loop depends on a rebuilt Pokémon Center, so repair it before trying to exchange candy.
What your save should contain after completion
A fully completed run should leave you with Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist as befriended town Pokémon, the Halloween habitat you constructed, any additional event furnishings you bought, and the Trick or Treat camera frame if you completed the full item set. The seasonal Camouflage surprise activity and the Pokémon Center exchange service are the parts to finish before the event clock expires. Your persistent rewards are the claimed objects, Pokémon, and cosmetic—not an unverified promise that Pumpkin Candy itself will remain usable.
