The puzzle is a photography task rather than a combat, collecting, or dialogue challenge. Your completion condition is the number of ghosts successfully photographed, not the number of rooms visited or the amount of time spent inside the mansion.

- Enter the 2026 Haunted Floating Festival. Ghost Hunt is part of this limited-time event, so the haunted house must be accessible in the event area.
- Go into the haunted house. The ten targets are associated with the mansion’s Ghost Hunt puzzle.
- Equip the in-game camera. Use Dreamlight Valley’s normal camera feature rather than taking a screenshot with your console, computer, or phone. An external screenshot does not satisfy the puzzle requirement.
- Photograph each ghost. Aim at a ghost and take a game-recognized photograph. Repeat until all ten have been captured by the puzzle.
- Confirm the final completion. After the tenth successful photograph, the ghosts disappear. That disappearance is the practical sign that the puzzle has registered the full set.
- Collect the pouch and open it. The completion reward is issued as a Haunted Floating Festival Pouch. Opening the pouch places Ghost in your furniture collection so it can be selected and placed like other furniture.
The event announcement does not publish a special camera mode, alternate scoring system, or optional objective. If a photograph does not advance the puzzle, take another in-game camera shot while the ghost is clearly in frame and continue checking the total rather than assuming the activity is complete.
What happens after the tenth photograph?
Ghost Hunt separates the task from the prize. The ten photographs are the requirement; Ghost is the resulting collectible. The ghosts disappearing is the transition between those two stages. You do not receive Ghost directly from the camera screen. Instead, the game awards the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch, and the item reference identifies Ghost as its contents.
Why the pouch matters
A pouch is a reward container, not an additional prize category. Opening it is necessary to move Ghost from the event reward into your furniture inventory. If you see the pouch but have not opened it, the furniture item may not yet appear in the normal furniture-selection interface.
There is no documented choice
Available event records list a single Ghost Hunt furniture outcome. They do not describe a menu offering different ghosts, furniture variants, currencies, or cosmetic alternatives. Do not delay completion while looking for a selection screen that the event does not document.

When Ghost Hunt is available
Ghost Hunt is listed as Puzzle 9 of the 2026 Haunted Floating Festival and is the final Haunted Mansion mystery in the event schedule. It unlocked on October 18, 2026. Because the end date is a scheduled event boundary, players who want the furniture should complete the puzzle and open the pouch before October 31 rather than relying on the activity remaining available afterward. Where to look if the reward seems missing
Finish the diagnostic in order. The official announcement confirms the photography requirement and the furniture reward, while the item reference reports a placement issue for some players. That report is not an official guarantee that every account will behave the same way.
1. Verify that all ten photographs registered
Count the successful in-game captures and look for the completion behavior: the ghosts should disappear after the tenth valid photograph. If ghosts remain, the puzzle may not have counted one of the images. Return to the mansion and photograph the remaining targets with the game camera.

2. Check for the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch
Look for the pouch before searching only for the furniture item. Ghost is delivered inside the container, so an unopened pouch can make the reward appear absent.
3. Search the main Valley as well as the event island
The Dreamlight Valley Wiki item reference reports that, for some players, the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch appears in the main Dreamlight Valley rather than inside the mansion or on the event island. Check your Valley’s biomes and nearby ground spaces, then inspect your inventory. Treat this as a reported placement issue, not a guaranteed spawn location.
4. Open the pouch and inspect furniture collection
Once found, open the pouch. Then use the furniture interface and search for Ghost by name. The item is placeable furniture, so it should be managed with other collected furniture rather than with clothing, currencies, or character-reward menus.

5. Avoid assuming the puzzle failed because the item is not on the island
The reported pouch-placement behavior means an empty event island does not by itself prove that completion failed. Confirm the tenth-photo completion signal, check the main Valley and inventory, and only then treat the reward as unresolved.

Do the photographs have to be taken in one visit?
The event instructions establish a total of ten ghosts but do not state a one-visit timer or a requirement to capture them without leaving. The safe requirement is to ensure that all ten photographs register before expecting the completion signal and pouch.
Can I choose a different Ghost Hunt reward?
