pytest-html-reporter is a pytest plugin that creates a static HTML report from a test run. In a typical workflow, you install it, run pytest with --html-report, and open the resulting report to review suite results and any documented extras such as failure screenshots, report history, and rerun support.
What the plugin produces
The package describes itself as generating “a static html report based on pytest framework.” Its README advertises an overview, trends, suite highlights, test-suite details, archives or history, screenshots on failure, and test rerun support. These are features described by the project; their presence in the documentation is not an independent verification of behavior across environments.
The HTML report is intended as a view of a pytest run, rather than a replacement for pytest itself. You continue to use pytest to collect and execute tests; the plugin adds report generation to that run.
Install it and generate a report
The project documents installation with pip and report generation through the --html-report command-line option. A basic sequence is:

Install the package in the Python environment used for your tests:
pip3 install pytest-html-reporter. -
Run pytest and specify the report output path, for example:

The README also shows a title option: pytest tests/ --html-report=./report --title='PYTEST REPORT'. PyPI documents the default filename as pytest_html_reporter.html and the path as report; its instructions also describe the project home directory as the base when --html-report is omitted. Defaults can vary by installed version, so check the behavior of the version in your environment rather than assuming those defaults.
Configure report options in pytest.ini
If you want pytest to apply report options without adding them to every command, the README documents putting them in pytest.ini:

Attach a screenshot to a failure report
The README demonstrates passing screenshot bytes to the package’s attach helper. Its example uses Selenium:

attach(data=self.driver.get_screenshot_as_png())This illustrates the intended pattern: obtain image bytes and pass them to attach. The example documents Selenium usage; it does not establish compatibility with every browser automation library or provide a complete fixture or hook for every test setup.
Check the release and compatibility context
PyPI lists pytest-html-reporter version 0.2.9, uploaded February 13, 2022, and the repository identifies v0.2.9 as its latest release on that date. PyPI metadata states a Python requirement of >=3.5, but that declaration alone does not establish that the package works with every current Python or pytest version.
The pytest plugin catalog also lists pytest-html-reporter, with a September 6, 2026 date in the catalog search result. A catalog listing is evidence that the plugin is listed there, not that it is actively maintained or broadly compatible. Before adopting it in a current project, verify installation and report generation in the Python and pytest versions you actually use. Sources: PyPI project page and pytest plugin list.
Do not confuse it with pytest-reporter-html
pytest-html-reporter and pytest-reporter-html are distinct package names. The plugin catalog describes the latter as an interactive reporter with step tracking, log capture, and filtering. Those catalog-described features should not be attributed to pytest-html-reporter, whose own documentation describes a static HTML report and the features covered above.
