Newport Media’s “most highly integrated” claim was its own description of two mobile-TV system-on-chips: the Sundance H and the NMI320 Sundance J, announced July 23, 2007. The NMI320 targeted Japan’s ISDB-T broadcast standard and supported both One-Seg and Three-Seg reception. Newport said it combined radio, demodulation and memory in one CMOS device, but the company’s announcement does not independently establish that it ranked first across the industry.
What Newport’s claim referred to
In its July 23, 2007 announcement, Newport president and CEO Mohy Abdelgany called the NMI320 Sundance J and the previously announced Sundance H “the world’s most highly integrated mobile TV devices for two of the world’s most popular standards.” The superlative was Newport’s marketing claim. The available product specifications describe the devices, but do not provide an independent comparison proving a universal ranking.
The NMI320 was intended for mobile-TV products built for Japan’s ISDB-T standard. Its support for One-Seg and Three-Seg modes addressed different ISDB-T transmission configurations; this was an OEM semiconductor component, not a consumer television or plug-in accessory.
What the NMI320 integrated
Newport described the NMI320 as a monolithic CMOS device combining a dual-band radio, an ISDB-T demodulator and required memory. The company said a complete solution needed no external memory, baluns or loop filters. That is the specific basis for understanding “highly integrated”: it refers to functions consolidated on the chip and the external components Newport said could be omitted, not a verified comparison against every competing design.

Newport’s broader television-on-a-chip architecture was described in its SEC filing as combining an RF tuner, demodulator, decoder, video processor and universal interfaces on a CMOS system-on-chip for mobile multimedia devices. Newport presented smaller footprint, simpler design-in, lower cost and lower power as intended benefits of this architecture; those goals should not be read as independently measured outcomes for every device.

How it was offered to device makers
Newport said sample quantities were available and listed a price of $8.00 per unit for OEM orders of 10,000. The announcement planned volume production for the fourth quarter of 2007. Those terms describe the 2007 OEM offering; they do not establish present-day inventory or retail availability.

The available information documents a historical component announcement, not a current sales channel. It does not verify that NMI320 chips are still available from Newport, a semiconductor distributor or a surplus-electronics seller. The original volume pricing and sampling statement should not be treated as a current offer, and there is no basis here for presenting the chip as a consumer product available through ordinary retail.
