Costco’s currently promoted new perks are mainly for U.S. Executive members, not every Costco member. Gold Star costs $65 a year; Executive costs $130, or $65 more, and adds early shopping access, a monthly Same-Day credit on qualifying orders, service offers and a 2% reward on qualifying purchases. The reward has exclusions and an annual cap, so the value depends on how you shop and which services you would actually use.
Which Costco membership gets the new perks?
Costco’s current U.S. membership materials list Gold Star at $65 per year and Executive at $130 per year. That makes Executive a $65 annual upgrade over Gold Star. Costco describes the Executive 2% reward as applying to qualifying purchases; it is not 2% back on every dollar spent. The perks often described as new include early shopping access and a monthly Same-Day credit. Costco’s shareholder materials announced those changes as taking effect June 30, 2025, but the live benefits page now includes a wider range of service offers. Costco does not establish that every offer currently listed launched at the same time or is new in 2026.
What does the Executive 2% reward cover?
Executive members earn a 2% annual reward on qualifying purchases at Costco, Costco.com and Costco Travel. Costco’s fiscal 2025 annual report states a general annual maximum of $1,250. The reward is only one way to assess whether the upgrade suits you. Compare your likely qualifying purchases with the extra $65 fee, and separately consider whether the access, credit or services are relevant to your household. There is no single break-even answer for every member.
What shopping perks are included?
Earlier warehouse access
Costco promotes earlier shopping access for Executive members. The current joining page displays U.S. hours by weekday, but warehouse schedules vary. Check your local warehouse’s listing before planning a visit; a general membership page is not a substitute for local hours.

Monthly Same-Day credit
Costco lists a $10 monthly credit on an eligible SameDay.Costco.com order of $150 or more. The service is powered by Instacart. The offer has terms, including eligibility and account-linking requirements, and availability can vary; review the current offer details before placing an order.
What other Executive offers does Costco list?
Costco’s Executive Member Benefits page promotes offers across household services, travel, vehicles, pets and business products. These are not all automatic discounts or universally available benefits.

Is the new-member Shop Card offer part of the membership?
Costco’s join page displays a conditional digital Shop Card offer: $40 for eligible new Executive members or $20 for eligible new Gold Star members. The offer requires auto-renewal at signup and no Costco membership in any capacity during the prior 18 months. The page also separately displays a $65 Shop Card offer tied to applying and being approved for the Costco Anywhere Visa Card with a new Executive membership. These are promotional offers, not standard ongoing membership benefits; confirm the live terms on Costco’s join page before enrolling.
How should you decide whether to upgrade?
- Compare the annual fee difference. Executive costs $65 more per year than Gold Star at the current U.S. prices.
- Estimate qualifying purchases. Apply the 2% reward only to purchases that qualify under Costco’s terms, and account for the $1,250 general annual maximum reported for fiscal 2025.
- Value the practical perks. Consider whether earlier shopping or a qualifying Same-Day order is useful to you, rather than counting every listed service offer as guaranteed savings.
- Check service relevance and eligibility. A perk matters only if you need that service and can use it where you live under the provider’s terms.
- Recheck current offers. Costco’s benefits and promotional pages are live listings, and terms or availability can change.
Where are these benefits available?
The prices and specific join offers above refer to Costco’s U.S. pages. Costco’s fiscal 2025 annual report says membership fees vary by country and that Executive is offered in several countries for a varying additional fee. Costco Travel offers vacation packages, car rentals, cruises and other products in varying combinations across the U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K. A perk listed on a U.S. page should not be assumed to apply in another country; check the local Costco site and provider terms.
