congatec aReady.IOT is a modular software platform that connects computer-on-modules (COMs) and their attached devices to cloud services, while providing tools to monitor and manage them remotely. Announced on 5 February 2025 as an extension of congatec’s aReady.COM offering, it is aimed at industrial OEMs and embedded teams that want to build connected products without developing every IoT software component from scratch.

What is congatec aReady.IOT?

aReady.IOT is a set of preconfigured software building blocks for IoT connectivity and lifecycle management in COM-based systems. It is designed to handle parts of the work between an embedded computer, its connected equipment and cloud services, leaving product developers to concentrate on their application.

The platform targets industrial products and systems—not consumer smart-home devices. congatec lists support for its aReady.IOT-enabled SMARC, Qseven, Pico-ITX, COM Express and COM-HPC module families. Typical users include industrial OEMs, machine builders, system integrators and embedded-device developers.

congatec positions the platform as modular and scalable, with use cases such as remote monitoring, maintenance, lifecycle management, migration, real-time analysis and predictive-maintenance workflows. These are vendor-described capabilities and intended uses; the launch material does not publish independent benchmarks or quantified savings.

How does aReady.IOT connect a COM to the cloud?

The launch release describes building blocks that communicate with machines, systems, devices and sensors using OPC UA, MQTT and REST. A web interface provides visual, flow-based configuration of IoT data flows without requiring users to write code for each flow.

For cloud connectivity, an optional or validated Cloud Connector provides the connection path. The launch material names AWS, Microsoft Azure and Telekom Cloud, while congatec’s product page also lists Cumulocity. A cloud connector does not by itself establish that every service configuration, feature or deployment is interchangeable; teams should confirm the supported integration and requirements for their chosen system.

What do the aReady.IOT managers do?

The packages add management capabilities in stages. Each higher-level package includes the capabilities of the preceding one, according to congatec’s launch description.

Fleet Manager Application Manager capabilities, plus device grouping, bulk actions, and over-the-air (OTA) deployment of IoT software, BIOS and configuration updates.

COM Manager

COM Manager focuses on the module itself. Its dashboard and remote-management features are intended to give operators visibility into COM hardware, support remote operation and monitoring, and maintain software.

Application Manager

Application Manager extends that scope beyond the COM to connected carrier boards and peripherals. Rule sets and push notifications add ways to respond to device conditions or notify operators.

Fleet Manager

Fleet Manager adds management across groups of devices, including bulk actions. Its stated OTA scope includes IoT software, BIOS and configuration updates, which is broader than application-only deployment. The announcement does not specify update scheduling, rollback behavior or other operational details, so those should be verified for a particular deployment.

Can aReady.IOT manage devices remotely and push OTA updates?

Yes. Remote monitoring and operation are included in COM Manager, with higher-level packages adding connected-device and fleet capabilities. Fleet Manager is the tier that congatec says can deploy IoT software, BIOS and configuration updates over the air, as well as group devices and perform bulk actions.

This makes the platform relevant to products that need post-deployment maintenance or remote service. It does not, on the information announced, establish specific security controls, update guarantees, supported fleet sizes or recovery behavior. Those implementation details matter for production systems and should be confirmed with congatec for the selected module and package.

Which cloud platforms work with aReady.IOT?

congatec’s 5 February 2025 launch material names AWS, Microsoft Azure and Telekom Cloud as Cloud Connector targets. The product page additionally names Cumulocity. Because the sources list these as connector options rather than documenting feature-by-feature compatibility, confirm the exact connector, service configuration and current availability for the intended deployment.

What should an OEM evaluate before choosing it?

aReady.IOT is most relevant when a product is built around a supported congatec COM and needs an integrated path to connected-device management. For an evaluation, establish whether the platform covers the whole deployment—not only cloud access.

  • Confirm the exact COM family and module configuration are aReady.IOT-enabled, and determine how the carrier board, peripherals and sensors fit into the supported application.
  • Map requirements to the manager tier: COM monitoring, peripheral management, or fleet grouping and bulk OTA operations.
  • Validate the needed protocols and data-flow tooling, including OPC UA, MQTT, REST and the visual configuration interface.
  • Confirm the chosen cloud connector and its supported services, configuration and operational requirements.
  • Ask about security, update lifecycle, fleet scale, support arrangements and recovery behavior; these details are not specified in the launch description.

For commercial planning, congatec says service data and simpler maintenance can support service contracts or Everything-as-a-Service models. These are possible business uses described by the vendor, not guaranteed outcomes or independently measured savings. Andreas Bergbauer, congatec’s Manager Solution Management, called the application integration “unmatched”; that is congatec’s characterization, not an independent comparative finding.
