Cerebras CS-3 is a data-center AI system built around the WSE-3, a wafer-scale processor with 900,000 AI-optimized cores and 4 trillion transistors. Cerebras announced the system on March 13, 2024. The figures describe specialized enterprise AI infrastructure—not a consumer chip or a stand-alone retail product.
What the Cerebras CS-3 is
CS-3 is the complete system; WSE-3 is the processor at its center. That distinction matters: calling CS-3 a “chip” is convenient shorthand, but it is not just a processor sold on its own. Cerebras packages the wafer-scale processor with system components for data-center deployment, including liquid cooling, redundant power and cooling supplies, system management, and 12 standard 100-gigabit Ethernet links. Cerebras described the CS-3 as shipping to customers in a product blog dated March 12, 2024.

The following figures are Cerebras specifications or claims. Peak performance is not a promise that every model or workload will run at that rate.

How wafer-scale AI computing works
One wafer, rather than many separate accelerator chips
Most accelerator servers combine multiple compute chips with separate memory devices. Data must move among those components, and large AI jobs often have to be split across chips. The WSE-3 takes a different approach: Cerebras puts a very large array of compute cores and SRAM on one wafer and connects them with a wafer-scale interconnect.

Why keep compute and memory close?
Moving data can consume time and energy, so placing a substantial amount of SRAM alongside the cores is intended to reduce data movement and provide high on-chip bandwidth. The 44 GB figure refers to that on-chip SRAM, not all memory available to a deployed system. Cerebras also describes configurations with much larger external memory capacity. Those are distinct parts of the architecture, not competing descriptions of the same memory pool.
What it means for programming and scaling
Cerebras presents the architecture as a way to simplify programming and reduce the work of partitioning very large AI models across separate accelerator chips. The system can also be combined into multi-system clusters. These design goals do not, by themselves, establish that CS-3 is faster or easier to use for every model; the result depends on software, configuration, and workload.

How CS-3 performance compares with GPUs
The 125-petaflop figure is a vendor-listed peak, not a direct head-to-head result against a particular GPU system. Cerebras said at launch that WSE-3 delivered twice the performance of its prior WSE-2 “at the same power draw and for the same price.” That is Cerebras’ comparison between its own processor generations, not evidence that CS-3 is twice as fast as a GPU cluster.
A useful comparison with GPUs needs matching conditions and a defined task. Peak figures alone can obscure differences in precision, model, software, memory configuration, and system scale. For a deployment decision, compare:

- Memory: usable on-chip capacity, external memory, and the way the model’s weights and working data fit.
- Bandwidth and partitioning: how much data moves between compute and memory, and how the job is divided across processors.
- Software effort: model support, programming requirements, and the complexity of distributing work.
- Deployment costs and constraints: system scale, power, cooling, availability, and total cost for the intended workload.
Without a matched benchmark and its configuration details, neither “faster than GPUs” nor a numerical speed advantage is established by the headline specifications.
Scaling CS-3 into AI supercomputers
Multiple CS-3 systems can be connected for larger workloads. One named example is Condor Galaxy 3, announced by Cerebras and G42 as a cluster of 64 CS-3 systems rated at 8 exaflops and 58 million AI-optimized cores. Those are the announced cluster figures; they do not describe a single CS-3 or WSE-3 processor.

Cerebras also describes clusters of up to 2,048 CS-3 systems and a single logical device capable of models up to 24 trillion parameters. These are vendor-described scale capabilities, not a statement that every deployment has that size or model capacity.

Direct enterprise and Cerebras Cloud access
CS-3 is enterprise infrastructure. Organizations can approach Cerebras through its sales channel or use Cerebras Cloud, subject to the service’s current availability and terms. It is not a consumer product sold as an Amazon retail item.

Amazon Bedrock announcement
On March 13, 2026, AWS and Cerebras announced plans for CS-3 systems in AWS data centers, with access through Amazon Bedrock. The announcement used forward-looking language. It establishes an announced cloud channel, but not that access is live for every customer or region. Organizations should check current Bedrock model availability and regional support with AWS before planning around it.
Manufacturing and availability context
On July 9, 2026, Flex and Cerebras announced expanded manufacturing lines in Milpitas that were expected to increase CS-3 production capacity by approximately sevenfold through 2026. This is a production-capacity expectation, not a guarantee of inventory, delivery timing, or availability to a particular buyer.
