If coffee drips or runs very slowly, try grinding coarser; if it runs through too quickly, try finer. Dose and tamping also affect flow, so check them alongside grind size.
Use whole beans labeled for espresso if you have a grinder, or choose pre-ground coffee that works with your machine’s filter. Casabrews does not specify a required brand, origin, or roast level in the official pages reviewed.
Choose a grinder that fits your machine
First check your exact Casabrews model. Some configurations include a grinder, while others require a separate one; do not assume every machine has the same setup.
If your machine has a built-in grinder
The Casabrews 5700GENSE product listing describes an integrated conical burr grinder with 15 settings and a 58 mm portafilter. These are specifications for that model, not the full Casabrews range. If you need a separate grinder
Choose one with adjustable settings fine enough for espresso. A Casabrews example is the TORNADO LCD, whose product listing specifies 77 settings, an espresso-fine range of settings 1–25, and cradles for 51 mm, 54 mm, and 58 mm portafilters. What coffee should you use?
Whole beans marketed for espresso are a practical starting point if you have a grinder. If you buy pre-ground coffee, choose a grind that works with your machine’s filter. The official Casabrews pages reviewed discuss beans and grounds but do not require a particular brand, origin, or roast level; no single roast can be presented as a manufacturer requirement. Adjust grind size by watching the flow
Casabrews troubleshooting for the CM5418 and 3700ESSENTIAL identifies grind size, coffee quantity, and tamping among the possible causes of extraction problems. Change one variable at a time where possible so you can see which adjustment improves the flow. Casabrews troubleshooting
Coffee drips, runs slowly, or does not flow
Try a coarser grind. Also check whether the filter is overfilled or the coffee has been tamped too firmly; either can contribute to slow flow. Casabrews lists “Coffee is ground too finely” as a possible cause on its CM5418 troubleshooting page.

Coffee runs through too quickly
Try a finer grind, then check the dose and tamp. Casabrews also lists insufficient grounds and light tamping as possible causes of fast flow, so making the grind finer is not the only possible fix.

Check fit before buying equipment
- Confirm whether your exact machine configuration includes a grinder.
- For a separate grinder, verify that it can reach espresso-fine settings and that its portafilter workflow suits you.
- Check the machine’s portafilter and basket dimensions against any grinder cradle or accessory. A matching nominal diameter alone does not prove compatibility.
- For coffee, start with espresso-labeled whole beans if grinding at home, or choose pre-ground coffee suitable for your filter; then adjust based on flow.
