ARC Raiders bans are not limited to cheat software. Embark’s rules also cover unfair exploitation of bugs, certain kinds of abusive conduct, boosting or farming, account sharing or selling, and trading in-game items for value. In its September 30, 2026 update, Embark said permanent bans are now standard for known cheat-program use. The studio acknowledges that external software can trigger anti-cheat violations unintentionally, but it has published neither a false-ban rate nor a definitive list of commonly misidentified apps.
What conduct can get you banned?
Embark’s Ban and Enforcement Policy, last updated February 26, 2026, says violations of its Terms of Service, EULA, or Code of Conduct can lead to temporary or permanent suspension. The listed grounds go beyond using cheats:
- Using cheats, hacks, or third-party tools that affect gameplay, or trying to bypass anti-cheat.
- Exploiting a bug or glitch for an unfair advantage.
- Abusive behavior, including hate speech, harassment, or stream sniping.
- Boosting or farming.
- Sharing or selling an account.
- Trading in-game items for anything of value.
Embark says serious violations may also result in bans across its titles. Account owners remain responsible for activity on their accounts, and enforcement can affect accounts using a shared Steam Family Sharing license.
Which third-party apps are safe?
Embark does not publish a complete safe-app list. Its policy warns: “Using external software, even unintentionally that interacts with the game may trigger anti-cheat violations.” It advises avoiding applications that affect game integrity, give an unfair advantage, or provide unauthorized services. If you are unsure whether an application interacts with the game, the policy’s guidance is not to use it while playing.

That warning is not a verified catalogue of false-positive programs. The available official material does not establish that any particular overlay, hardware monitor, accessibility tool, input utility, or other named app commonly causes mistaken bans. Avoid treating online anecdotes as proof that a specific app is safe or that it caused a restriction.
Accessibility devices
In a May 7, 2026 fair-play article, Embark said it analyzes telemetry and communication patterns to distinguish legitimate accessibility use from abuse, and that it continues refining the process. The studio also said common official devices are better known to its system, while lesser-known devices can be harder to assess. This is Embark’s description of its approach, not a guarantee that a particular device will never be flagged.
How anti-cheat enforcement works
Embark’s September 30, 2026 update says ARC Raiders uses kernel-level protection from Denuvo, detections from Anybrain, and an expanding set of in-house machine-learning and other data models. The studio says it combines signals to build confidence before acting and does not disclose operational details that might help cheat developers adapt.
Embark says it assesses suspicious behavior over multiple instances rather than acting on a single event. Executive Producer Aleks described the aim this way: “The system analyzes behavior over multiple instances to give us a high-degree of certainty that fair play is compromised.” The studio also says it reviews publicly posted videos and streams when they provide clear evidence. A delay before action therefore does not, by itself, show that a report was ignored.

What sanctions can Embark apply?
The sanction depends on the conduct and evidence. Embark’s published descriptions distinguish restrictions on a player’s account or game copy from hardware restrictions:

Embark says any account caught using cheats is permanently banned, with “No warnings. No second chances.” The September update also said the studio had lowered its threshold for hardware restrictions and was working on a solution it hoped to implement later in 2026 that would extend hardware bans to almost all systems caught running cheat software. That was a stated plan, not confirmation that the broader system had already launched.

Banned accounts cannot transfer items or progression. Do not try to evade a restriction with another account or a shared license; the policy describes account and license consequences rather than a workaround.

Embark distinguishes spontaneous cooperation from pre-arranged matchmaking abuse. Teaming with someone you meet during a raid through proximity chat remains allowed. The targeted behavior is coordinating in advance to enter the same solo lobby and attack players who queued alone.

Embark reported that, five days after it began keeping known queue-teaming groups apart, it saw 85% fewer players engaging in that behavior and spoiled raids fall from around one in 50 to one in 300. These are figures reported by Embark in its September 30, 2026 update, not independently verified measurements; the studio said it saw no meaningful queue-time impact.
What should you do if a ban seems wrong?
For an eligible active game restriction, submit one appeal for that restriction through ARC Raiders Support:
- Log in to ARC Raiders Support with your Embark ID.
- Open the chat bubble and choose Ban Appeals > Game Ban.
- Identify the restriction and include its message, relevant facts, and context in your appeal.
Embark’s Ban Appeals guide, last updated February 19, 2026, says a team member reviews each eligible appeal individually, checks relevant account data, and considers the player’s explanation. The outcome may be Upheld (the restriction remains), Adjusted (a different action is applied), or Lifted (the restriction was applied in error). Embark says it cannot share detailed evidence or detection methods because doing so could compromise security. Hardware restrictions cannot be appealed.
What is known about false positives?
Embark’s policy acknowledges that software interacting with the game may trigger an anti-cheat violation unintentionally, and its appeal process allows a restriction to be lifted if it was applied in error. Those statements establish that mistakes are possible; they do not show how often they happen, identify apps that commonly cause them, or establish whether any individual restriction was mistaken. The official sources reviewed publish no false-positive rate.
