Epic Games collects information you provide, data generated when you play or use its services, technical and device details, tracking identifiers, and information from connected platforms or other providers. It uses that information to run accounts and transactions, support and secure its services, prevent fraud, analyze and improve products, personalize features, communicate with users, and meet legal obligations. You can request access, correction, or deletion; opt out of marketing; manage cookies; revoke connected-service permissions; use parental controls; or delete the account, although each control has limits and account deletion removes purchases and progress.
What information does Epic Games collect?
Epic describes three broad collection routes in its privacy materials: information you submit, information generated automatically when you use Epic Services, and information received from service providers or other third parties. The exact fields depend on the product, platform, account type, and activity.
Information you provide directly
Creating and managing an Epic account can involve your name, public-facing display name, password, country, and email address. Some activities ask for more. Applications for contests, competitive events, Support-A-Creator, or Island Creator can require eligibility details and information needed for payouts.

When you buy something or obtain an entitlement, Epic can process the transaction and maintain records of the purchase, entitlement, and related account activity. Support interactions and other forms you submit can add information that is not part of ordinary registration.

Gameplay and service activity
Yes, Epic can track what you play and how you use its services. Its listed examples include the application or game used, when and how long it was used, gameplay attempts, progression and results, saved preferences, crash reports, purchases, entitlements, page views, referring and exiting URLs, time spent, clicks, and platform type.
This activity data can describe both in-game behavior and ordinary website or launcher use. A crash report, for example, helps diagnose a failure; a page view or click can show how a feature is being used; and progression or results can support game operation, security, analytics, and product improvement.
Device, network, and technical information
Epic lists IP address, device identifiers, internet-service-provider information, plugins, device make and model, operating system, browser, and other system specifications among its technical data. It also describes collecting general device location, typically inferred from the IP address. This is generally a broad location estimate rather than a precise GPS record, but the practical accuracy varies by network and provider.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies, log files, web beacons, and similar technologies can recognize a device, authenticate a user, remember preferences, manage advertising, personalize experiences, and support analytics. These technologies may be operated by Epic or by service providers working on its behalf.
Information from platforms and other third parties
Epic says it may receive information from service providers and third parties, including platforms or other services you use to access Epic Services. If you connect an account or sign in through another platform, the information available can depend on that platform’s settings and the permissions you approve.

Why does Epic use this data?
Epic’s current privacy policy, dated April 22, 2026, describes several purposes. A detailed privacy-policy webpage dated July 18, 2025 provides additional examples. They should not be read as one single purpose or as proof that every data field is used for every purpose.

Epic also states that it does not sell the personal data it collects or process it for targeted advertising. That statement does not mean no information is collected for analytics, service personalization, security, or advertising-related functions such as managing advertising technologies; it describes Epic’s stated position on selling personal data and targeted advertising.
What can Epic share with games, publishers, and connected services?
Information associated with an Epic Games Store transaction
When you access a third-party game or application through the Epic Games Store, Epic says some account information may be shared with the publisher or developer to enable the transaction and product features. The specific fields can depend on the product and the feature being enabled, so do not assume that every account field is transferred.
Signing in with an Epic account
Epic’s connected-account guidance makes a narrower distinction: a product or service can use an Epic account to verify your identity, while access to other information requires your explicit consent. Epic says you can revoke that access later and that it does not share your password or payment details with third-party products or services through this sign-in mechanism.

Before approving a connection, read the permission request as a separate decision from merely signing in. Identity verification may be sufficient for one service, while a social, gameplay, or account-linking feature may ask for additional information.

1. Request access, correction, or deletion
Epic says you can submit a request concerning personal information associated with your Epic account. Requests are subject to identity verification and to legal or operational limits. Be specific about whether you want a copy of your information, a correction to inaccurate information, or deletion of information or the account. A rights request is not automatically a promise that every record will disappear immediately.
- Access: ask what personal information is associated with the account and how it is used, subject to applicable limits.
- Correction: identify the field that is inaccurate and provide the replacement information.
- Deletion: understand which account, purchase, security, fraud-prevention, or legal records may be retained.
2. Stop marketing messages
Use the opt-out mechanism in an Epic marketing email, change the relevant Epic account settings, or contact Epic. This controls marketing communications; it does not necessarily stop service, security, transaction, or account messages required to operate your account.
3. Manage cookies and tracking technologies
Your browser and mobile-device settings can block, manage, delete, or limit cookies and similar technologies. The exact labels differ by browser and operating system, but the controls are normally found in privacy, security, site-data, or tracking settings.
- Open the browser or device privacy settings.
- Review cookie, site-data, tracking, or advertising-permission controls.
- Block or delete the categories you do not want to retain.
- Revisit the settings after browser updates or when using a different device.
Epic warns that disabling cookies or similar technologies can affect service operation or feature availability. Blocking all cookies can sign you out, remove saved preferences, or prevent parts of a website from working.

4. Review and revoke connected services
Open the connected-account or authorized-service area of your Epic account and inspect each product that has access. Deny a new request if the permissions are broader than the feature requires. For an existing connection, use the revoke or disconnect control described in Epic’s account-access guidance. Revoking permission stops future access through that connection, but it may not erase information the other service already received; check that service’s own privacy and deletion process for that step.
5. Use parental controls
Parents can manage a child’s access to social features and purchases in Epic-owned games, control which games the child can obtain from the Epic Games Store, and adjust related settings through the Epic Account Portal or in-game controls. These settings are separate from a parent’s own marketing or cookie choices and should be reviewed on every platform the child uses.
6. Delete the Epic account
Epic provides a self-service account-deletion process. Treat it as an account-ending action, not merely a tracking switch.
- Start the deletion request through Epic’s account self-service process.
- Complete any identity or confirmation step Epic presents.
- Do not sign back in if you intend the deletion to proceed. Epic says logging in within 14 days can reactivate the request.
- After that 14-day period, Epic says deletion is irreversible.
Epic warns that purchases, in-game progress, and items associated with the account are deleted. Export or record anything you need before starting, and check whether a platform account or a third-party game keeps a separate account that must be closed independently.

For a child under 13, or under the applicable digital-consent age in the child’s region, Epic may place the account in a Cabined Account until parental permission is provided. The exact age threshold can vary by location.

- Downloading non-Epic-owned games

Information Epic says it may collect for a Cabined Account
Epic’s child-privacy materials describe a limited set that can include the child’s date of birth and country for age settings, a parent or guardian email address for notice and consent, a hashed and salted sign-in email, and persistent identifiers such as IP address, gaming-platform account IDs, and device identifiers.
Parents can review the child’s personal information and request deletion of the child’s account. Epic says that deleting the child’s account deletes the personal information and stops further collection, subject to applicable exceptions.
How long does Epic keep information?
There is no single retention period for every account field. Epic says retention depends on the type of information and the reason for processing. Information may be kept as needed to provide services, complete transactions, maintain records, enforce terms, prevent fraud or cheating, resolve disputes, protect security, exercise legal rights, or comply with law.

A service may need to preserve a transaction record, security evidence, or information required by law even after an account is closed.
A practical privacy checklist
- Use a unique password and protect the email account attached to Epic.
- Review connected services and remove permissions you no longer recognize or need.
- Choose marketing preferences separately from essential account communications.
- Adjust browser and device cookie settings, then test whether the Epic features you rely on still work.
- Check purchase and progression consequences before requesting account deletion.
- For a child, configure parental controls and review Cabined Account restrictions after any age or permission change.
- If requesting access, correction, or deletion, describe the request precisely and be prepared to verify your identity.
