Cal AI collects account details, food and activity logs, body measurements, device and usage data, and—if you authorize it—selected records from Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect. Some food, medication, body and activity information can reveal health conditions and is treated in the company’s Privacy Notice as sensitive personal information. You can limit marketing, cookies, personalized advertising, health connections and public sharing, and request access, correction, portability, restriction or deletion by emailing privacy@calai.app.
What Cal AI collects
Cal AI, Inc.’s Privacy Notice effective May 21, 2026 (updated from a version dated November 25, 2025) describes several data categories. The exact information attached to your account depends on what you enter, which features you use and which permissions you grant. Not every user supplies every category: someone who only records meals manually has a different data footprint from someone who enables health syncing, joins Groups, uploads photos and uses the website across several devices.
Account and profile information
- Name and email address.
- Country or ZIP-level general location.
- Optional profile image.
- Gender and date of birth.
These fields can be supplied during sign-up or profile setup. A profile image is optional, but the other fields may be requested to personalize nutrition or fitness features. Check the profile for old or unnecessary details after setup; correcting a field is preferable to leaving an inaccurate value that could affect recommendations or an identity-verification request.

The app can receive dietary habits; food, drink and medication entries; calorie counts; dietary restrictions; fitness level; activity; goals; height; weight; BMI; other body measurements; and optional progress photos. Entries may be created by typing, voice logging or image logging. A voice recording or food photograph can reveal context beyond the calories ultimately displayed, such as a person’s surroundings, another person in the frame or a medication label.

The notice says this category can contain sensitive personal information when it indicates or allows an inference about a health condition. For example, a medication entry, a pattern of food restrictions or a body measurement could reveal more than the individual entry appears to show. Repeated entries can also create a detailed picture of routines, adherence, weight change and goals. Consider whether each photo, note or medication detail is necessary for the feature you want before submitting it.
Communications and community content
Cal AI may collect support requests, chatbot exchanges and responses to research or surveys. A support ticket can therefore contain both the message you write and the account details needed to handle it. Avoid putting passwords, payment-card numbers or a complete medical history into a chat or support form.
If you use Groups or public discussion features, the information you share can include your name, email address, diary entries, photos, goals and achievements. Public-facing posts may be visible to other users and do not carry an expectation of confidentiality, so treat them differently from a private diary. A post can identify you indirectly even when it does not include your full name—for example, a distinctive progress photo, a rare dietary restriction or a highly specific goal.

When you use Cal AI’s app or website, the notice lists collection of:
- Browser type and operating system.
- Cookie identifiers, local-storage data, log files, pixels, web beacons and software-development kits.
- IP address, internet-service-provider or mobile-carrier information, and general location inferred from the IP address.
- Mobile advertising identifier and other unique identifiers.
- Clicks, interaction data, and the frequency and duration of activities.
This information can be used to understand how the service is used, measure campaigns and support cross-device or targeted advertising. An IP-derived location is general rather than a precise GPS location, but it still contributes to a profile of how and where the service is accessed. Using the same account on a phone and a browser can make activity from those environments easier to associate, even when you do not enter the same information twice.
Cookies and similar tools are not limited to advertising. They can support sign-in, remember preferences, measure performance and help diagnose errors. Rejecting optional cookies may therefore affect some website functions. A browser setting does not automatically change the app’s advertising identifier or another browser on the same device.
Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect
Cal AI can connect to Apple HealthKit or Android Google Health Connect when you grant permission. The information sent is limited to relevant data available in the repository and to the permissions you approve. Depending on your choices, that can include health or activity records such as measurements or exercise-related information. Review the individual read and write categories rather than assuming that a single “health” switch grants only one type of access.

This is a specific use restriction for the repository information described in the notice, not a blanket statement about every piece of information associated with your Cal AI account.
This assurance does not mean that every other item you enter in Cal AI—such as a manually typed meal, a photo, a goal or device identifiers—is outside the company’s advertising, analytics or service-use practices. If you disconnect an integration, check both the operating-system permission screen and Cal AI’s own connection setting. A permission screen can prevent future reads, while a previously imported record may remain in the Cal AI account until you request its deletion.

Payment and subscription details
Purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Those stores’ terms govern payment processing, subscription renewals and refunds. Cal AI therefore does not describe your full payment-card handling in this notice; review the store account used for the purchase when checking billing data or a renewal.
Deleting a Cal AI account is not the same as cancelling a store subscription. Cancel the renewal in the Apple or Google account that billed you, then make the privacy request separately. Keep the relevant receipt or transaction identifier if support needs to locate a subscription, but do not send full card numbers.

How the data may be combined
Each category can be more revealing in combination than on its own. A profile location, device identifier and activity schedule can indicate where and when you use the service. Food logs, medication entries, goals and progress photos can show health-related patterns. Communications and community posts can add names, email addresses and social context. The notice’s purposes—service operation, personalization, analytics, advertising, security and business operations—allow these categories to support different functions.
This does not mean every employee or partner sees every field. Recipient access depends on the service or purpose involved, but the notice lists service providers, marketing and advertising partners, analytics providers and research partners as possible recipients. Other users can see information you intentionally publish through social features, and law-enforcement or regulatory authorities may receive information when legally required.
Why Cal AI uses the information
The notice lists service operation, customer support, communications, research and analytics, personalization, security, legal compliance and general business operations as purposes. It also describes targeted advertising and cross-device tracking using identifiers and activity data.
Depending on the feature, information may be handled by service providers, marketing and advertising partners, analytics providers and research partners. Other users can see information you intentionally publish through social features. Cal AI may also disclose information to law-enforcement or regulatory authorities when legally required.
There is no published collection-volume statistic, user count, breach rate or universal retention-days figure in the notice. Avoid interpreting the absence of a number as a short retention period: the company says it keeps personal information as long as necessary for the purposes in the notice and for legal obligations, dispute resolution and enforcement.
Does Cal AI sell your health data?
The notice does not establish a blanket statement that Cal AI sells health data. It does make a specific commitment about data imported from Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect: that unique repository information is not used for Cal AI marketing or advertising and is not transferred to third parties for marketing.
That statement is narrower than a promise that no health-related information is ever disclosed. Manually entered food, medication, activity or body data can be sensitive personal information, and the notice lists advertising, analytics, research and service providers among possible recipient categories. The notice also describes targeted advertising and cross-device tracking using identifiers and activity data. If you want the smallest practical exposure, turn off optional advertising controls, avoid public posts and disconnect health repositories you do not need.

“Sell” can also have a specific legal meaning that differs from sharing, targeted advertising or processing by a service provider. The notice’s recipient and advertising descriptions should therefore be read separately from the HealthKit and Health Connect marketing restriction. If your concern is a particular use—such as profiling, cross-device advertising or a research disclosure—identify that use in a request to privacy@calai.app.

Use this checklist after installing the app, changing phones or browsers, or creating a new account. Several controls are local to a browser or device, so changing one device does not necessarily change another. Recheck settings after a major app or operating-system update because menu locations and permission states can change.
1. Turn off marketing email
- Open Cal AI account settings.
- Find email preferences and disable promotional or marketing messages.
- Alternatively, select the unsubscribe link in a marketing email.
Transactional messages, such as account or subscription notices, may be separate from promotional mail. Keep an address you monitor if you need receipts or support responses. If you use more than one Cal AI account, repeat the change for each account rather than assuming an unsubscribe link changed every profile.
2. Reject optional website cookies
- On the Cal AI website, open Manage your Cookie Preferences.
- Reject optional categories you do not want, or use your browser’s cookie and site-data controls.
- Repeat the choice in every browser and on each device you use.
Cookie choices are browser-level. Rejecting cookies can impair sign-in persistence or other site features, so check which function stopped working before assuming the account is broken. Clearing cookies later may erase the preference and require you to set it again. Private-browsing windows can also have separate storage from a normal browser session.
3. Disable personalized advertising and cross-device controls
- In the app, open your profile settings.
- Review the consent, opt-in or opt-out controls for personalized advertising.
- Choose the least-permissive option that still supports the features you want.
- Repeat the setting on every phone, tablet, browser and account context where you use Cal AI.
The notice says these choices can be device- or browser-level. Turning off personalized advertising does not necessarily stop all service, security or measurement data collection; it limits the advertising preference covered by the control. You may still receive general advertising or operational messages, and identifiers may still be needed for security or basic analytics.

4. Review Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect access
- Open the operating system’s health-permission area and locate Cal AI in the list of connected apps.
- Check which data types the app can read or write.
- Revoke categories you no longer need, or remove the connection entirely.
- Return to Cal AI and confirm that features depending on the connection are no longer enabled.
Apple and Android menu names vary by operating-system release, device manufacturer and region; Cal AI’s notice confirms that the connection is permission-based but does not provide one universal navigation path. Revoking access prevents future authorized reads, but it does not by itself request deletion of information already copied into Cal AI. Use a formal deletion request for that.
5. Keep diary entries and progress photos out of public features
Do not post diary entries, photos, goals or achievements in Groups or public discussion areas if you do not want other users to see them. The notice says public posts may be publicly viewable and have no expectation of confidentiality. Changing a post later may not remove copies, screenshots or information another user already viewed. Before posting, remove names, faces, location clues and other details that are not needed for the discussion.
6. Minimize what you enter
Privacy controls cannot undo a detail you voluntarily submit. Use the least specific profile value that still enables the feature, skip the optional profile image, and avoid uploading a progress photo when a numerical entry is sufficient. If a voice or image log is convenient, inspect the resulting entry and remove accidental details. Review old goals, diary entries and connected permissions periodically rather than waiting until you close the account.
How to request access, deletion or correction
For a formal privacy request, email privacy@calai.app. State exactly what you want and include the account email or another detail that helps Cal AI locate the account without sending unnecessary health information.

Requests you can make
- Access to the personal information associated with your account.
- Portability of information in a usable format, where applicable.
- Deletion of your account information.
- Correction of inaccurate profile or other personal information.
- Restriction of processing.
- Opt-out of targeted advertising or profiling.
- Objection to a processing activity, or an appeal where the applicable process provides one.
Ask for one outcome per message or list them clearly, such as “delete my account and personal information, and confirm whether any data must be retained for legal reasons.” You can also identify a narrower scope, such as deleting a progress photo, removing community content or disconnecting a health integration while keeping an account. Identity verification may be required. Do not attach passwords, payment-card numbers or a full medical history to prove ownership.
Save a copy of your request and the reply. If Cal AI cannot complete part of the request, ask which category was retained, for how long or for what legal or operational reason, and whether an appeal or restriction option is available. The notice does not promise one universal response time, so do not assume that silence means the request was completed.
What deletion can and cannot mean
A deletion request concerns Cal AI-held personal information. App-store billing records and subscription transactions are governed by Apple or Google, so check the store account separately if you also need to cancel a renewal or address a refund. Information already shared publicly may have been viewed or copied by other users before removal.
Because Cal AI does not publish one fixed deletion period for every data type, ask the company to state what was deleted, what must be retained and the legal or operational reason for any retention. The notice says information may be kept for legal obligations, dispute resolution and enforcement. Deleting the app from a phone is not a deletion request and does not necessarily remove cloud-stored account information.
Retention, international transfers and security
Cal AI is headquartered in the United States and says personal information may be transferred to the United States and other countries with different privacy laws. The country in your profile or the location inferred from your IP address does not change that possibility. If you live elsewhere, consider whether those transfers affect the rights or complaint routes available to you.
The company says it retains personal information as long as necessary for the purposes in its notice, plus legal obligations, dispute resolution and enforcement. Since no universal number of days is stated, an inactive account should not be assumed to disappear automatically. Ask about retention as part of a deletion or access request if the period matters to you.
Cal AI’s notice states: “We maintain reasonable technical, organizational, and administrative safeguards designed to protect the personal information under our control from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.” This describes the safeguards the company says it maintains; it is not a guarantee that unauthorized access is impossible. Use a unique password, protect the email account tied to Cal AI and avoid putting identifying details into public posts. Keep your phone’s operating system and the Cal AI app updated, and review unexpected login or account messages through the official app or website rather than links in unsolicited email.
What the Google Play label adds—and what it does not
A Google Play listing for a Cal AI food and calorie tracker reports that privacy practices can vary by use, region and age. It indicates possible sharing of personal information, encryption in transit and an option to request data deletion.
Store labels can change with app versions and may describe a different app with a similar name. Before relying on a store disclosure, verify the developer name and the privacy-link domain shown on your own listing. Search results contain other apps with similar Cal AI names and different developers, so do not attribute a store label to Cal AI, Inc. without checking the listing. The company Privacy Notice effective May 21, 2026 is the more detailed source for the categories, purposes, controls and request process described above.

A practical minimum-data setup
If you want Cal AI to remain useful while limiting exposure, use this configuration:
- Provide only the profile fields needed for the features you use; skip an optional profile image.
- Log meals and activity manually instead of enabling a health repository unless automatic import is important to you.
- Grant only the HealthKit or Health Connect categories required for that feature, then review them after app updates.
- Disable personalized-advertising controls on each device and browser.
- Reject optional website cookies where doing so does not break a needed function.
- Keep diary entries, progress photos, goals and achievements in private areas rather than Groups or public discussions.
- Turn off marketing email and retain only account or transaction messages you need.
- When you stop using the service, cancel the store subscription, disconnect health permissions and send a deletion request to
privacy@calai.app.
This approach separates three decisions that are often confused: whether Cal AI can operate, whether it can read another health repository and whether it can use identifiers for personalized advertising. Adjust each decision independently instead of treating one permission as an all-or-nothing privacy switch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Cal AI see my Apple Health information?
Only if you authorize the HealthKit connection and grant the relevant data permissions. Review the individual read or write categories in your operating system’s health-permission screen. Cal AI says unique information received from HealthKit or Google Health Connect is not used for its marketing or advertising and is not transferred to third parties for marketing.
How do I stop Cal AI targeted ads?
Open profile settings in the app and review the consent, opt-in or opt-out controls for personalized advertising. Repeat the choice on each device and browser because the notice says these controls can be device- or browser-level. This does not necessarily stop all service, security or measurement data collection.
Does deleting the Cal AI app delete my account data?
No deletion period or automatic deletion on uninstall is stated. Email privacy@calai.app with a specific deletion request, and separately cancel any Apple App Store or Google Play subscription.
Does Cal AI sell my health data?
The Privacy Notice does not make a blanket no-sale statement. How long does Cal AI keep my information?

What should I include in a privacy request?
Email privacy@calai.app, identify the account and state whether you want access, portability, correction, deletion, restriction, an advertising or profiling opt-out, an objection or an appeal. Identity verification may be required, but do not send passwords, full medical histories or payment-card numbers.
Does turning off cookies stop all Cal AI tracking?
No. Cookie controls apply at the browser level and may affect website features. The notice separately describes mobile advertising identifiers, other unique identifiers, app and device data, and cross-device or targeted advertising controls.
The Bottom Line
Cal AI’s largest privacy considerations are the health-related detail in food, medication, activity and body logs; optional HealthKit or Health Connect imports; public community posts; and identifier-based advertising and analytics. Use the narrowest permissions and profile details you need, repeat advertising and cookie choices on every device and browser, keep sensitive entries out of public features, and email privacy@calai.app for a formal access or deletion request. Remember that uninstalling the app does not cancel a store subscription or by itself delete cloud-held information.
