WebSite X5 2024.2, released in June 2024, added Stripe as a payment option for the Pro edition and removed online-shop creation from Evo. Existing Evo shops were not shut down: Incomedia says they should keep working, but owners must choose between staying on the old Evo release or requesting a no-cost move to Pro if their license is active.
What changed in WebSite X5 2024.2?
Version 2024.2 reorganized the two editions. Evo was positioned for simpler websites, while online-shop functionality was concentrated in Pro. The update also introduced a limit on additions to large Evo projects.
| Change | Evo | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Online-shop creation | Removed in 2024.2; existing shop projects continue to work according to Incomedia | Retained |
| Stripe payment integration | Not established for Evo | Added in 2024.2 as a supported payment option |
| New pages or blog posts | Up to 100 pages and/or posts may be added | Not stated in the cited conversion guidance |
Incomedia’s release chronology records Stripe as “Payments with Stripe only Pro.” A contemporary report also described logging in to Stripe from inside WebSite X5 while adding it as a payment provider (Incomedia release chronology; Downloadcrew, 18 June 2024).
How Stripe works in this release
For a Pro online shop, Stripe became an additional integrated way to accept and manage payments. The available evidence establishes the edition eligibility and in-application sign-in, but not Stripe fees, processing rates, regional availability, or whether the integration remains unchanged in later WebSite X5 versions. Treat those as current-service questions and verify them before deployment.

What the Evo eCommerce removal means
From 2024.2, Evo no longer includes the functions and associated shop objects and links needed to create an online shop. This is a product-edition change, not an instruction to delete an existing store.
Existing Evo shops
Incomedia’s migration guidance says existing Evo projects with online shops “will keep working normally.” The practical limitation is future software development: the pre-2024.2 Evo installation can continue to be used, but it will not receive subsequent updates if you remain on that version (Incomedia, “v.2024.2: News and notes on projects conversion,” modified 12 June 2024).
Evo’s 100-item addition limit
Evo 2024.2 limits additions to 100 pages and/or blog posts. If an existing project already exceeds 100, its current content remains viewable; you cannot add further pages or posts under that edition’s new limit.
Choose the right migration path
| Your situation | What Incomedia says you can do | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-2024.2 Evo license with an online shop | Keep using the owned Evo version, or request conversion to Pro if the license is active | The old Evo version receives no updates; conversion requires contacting Incomedia |
| Active Evo license with a shop | Ask Incomedia to convert the license to Pro without charge, retaining the same expiration date | You move to the edition that contains shop tools; confirm the conversion with support |
| Inactive Evo license with a shop | Contact Incomedia support to discuss a case-specific solution | No automatic free conversion is stated for inactive licenses |
| Evo project without eCommerce | Update normally if the edition still fits the site | Projects over 100 pages/posts remain viewable but cannot grow beyond the limit |
| Pro license holder | Continue using Pro’s existing functions, including the new Stripe option | Current feature and commercial terms should be checked separately |
Before updating an Evo shop
- Identify whether the project contains an online shop and whether the Evo license is active.
- Make a complete project backup and record the WebSite X5 version currently used.
- If the license is active, contact Incomedia and request the free Pro conversion, explicitly confirming that the expiration date will remain unchanged.
- If the license is inactive, contact support before changing versions and ask what solution applies to that project.
- After any conversion or update, open the project and test product pages, cart links, checkout settings and payment-provider configuration before publishing.
