Choose the release before you choose an edition: World of Warcraft: Midnight is a paid expansion sold in Base, Heroic, and Epic editions, while World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate experience scheduled to launch November 4, 2026, with access included in an active WoW Subscription or Game Time. Forever’s Skyborne packs and Collection are optional upgrades, not substitutes for checking that access requirement. This guide explains what to compare before choosing a release, including the separate physical Collector’s Edition.
First decide which Warcraft release you mean
These product names describe two different choices, not a ladder of editions for one release. Midnight is a modern WoW expansion with Base, Heroic, and Epic editions. World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate upcoming experience; Blizzard says it launches globally November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST, and access is included with an active WoW Subscription or Game Time. Its Skyborne Heroic and Epic Packs and Warcraft Forever Collection add optional benefits.

If you want the expansion and its digital benefits, compare Midnight’s tiers. If you mean Forever, first confirm you have subscription or Game Time access, then decide whether a bundle’s extras matter to you. The Forever Epic Pack and Collection each include 30 days of Game Time starting at launch; continued play after that requires a subscription or more Game Time. Blizzard’s Forever announcement and Forever product page set out those terms.
Compare Midnight’s Base, Heroic, and Epic editions
The tier names matter less than the benefits you will use. Blizzard’s edition descriptions establish the following contents; they do not establish a reliable region-by-region price comparison, so check your local Battle.net Shop for current pricing and availability.

| Edition | What Blizzard lists | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Midnight, The War Within, an Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost, Housing Early Access, and 500 Trader’s Tender total. | Whether you want the expansion and these base digital benefits. Subscription or Game Time is still required. |
| Heroic | Everything in Base, plus a Lightwing Dragonhawk mount, Lightstrider Raiment transmog, and 1,000 Trader’s Tender total. | Whether the mount, appearance, and additional Tender are worth the upgrade to you. |
| Epic | Everything in Heroic, plus beta access, 3 days of early access, 30 days of Game Time, pets, mounts and other cosmetics, and 2,000 Trader’s Tender total. | Whether you value the limited-time access windows, Game Time, and added cosmetics enough to choose this tier. |
These are Blizzard’s listed Midnight edition terms, not a promise that every benefit is still claimable or useful at the time of purchase. Beta and early-access opportunities are time-limited and may have restrictions. Blizzard’s current Midnight tier details and Midnight product page are the relevant references.
Know what a Midnight purchase does—and does not—include
- It does not replace recurring access. A WoW Subscription or Game Time is required to play.
- It does not include future expansions. Buying Midnight covers the listed expansion and package benefits, not later expansions.
- Its boost and items are for modern WoW, not WoW Classic. Items already unlocked on your account are not granted a second time by upgrading editions.
Those purchase restrictions are described on Blizzard’s Midnight page.

Compare Forever’s optional upgrade bundles
Forever’s underlying access model is different from a conventional paid expansion purchase: Blizzard says access is included with an active WoW Subscription or Game Time. Its named packs are upgrades for players who want their additional benefits. The following comparison reflects Blizzard’s product descriptions; check the local shop for current regional terms.
| Upgrade | What Blizzard lists | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | Skyborne race and Zephras Isle start, early name reservation, a mount, cosmetics, housing decor, and one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code. | Whether the race/start option and cosmetics appeal to you. The mount requires you to buy the riding skill in-game. |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | Heroic benefits, plus beta access, 30 days of Game Time, additional cosmetics, pets and tabards, and three Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes total. | Whether beta, the included Game Time, and the added items justify the higher bundle for you. |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | Epic benefits, plus Warcraft III: Reforged, the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and additional housing decor. | Whether you also want the RTS game and campaign, as well as the additional decor. Blizzard lists the Collection offer through January 11, 2027. |
Forever’s housing decor is for Housing in modern WoW, which requires Midnight; Forever bundle items are not available in WoW Classic. Name reservation and invite codes have account, timing, and eligibility restrictions, so do not treat a reserved name as guaranteed or codes as unrestricted gifts. Blizzard’s Forever announcement and product page describe the contents and restrictions.

Consider the physical Collector’s Edition separately
The World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition is a physical keepsake purchase with a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection. Blizzard identifies the Blizzard Gear Store as the sales channel and says the edition is available while supplies last. It is not presented as a required purchase for access to Forever. Decide whether you want the physical collectibles, and check the Gear Store for current stock, shipping, and regional availability. Blizzard’s Collector’s Edition announcement describes the package.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Make the choice using the benefits you will actually use
- Identify the release. Choose between the Midnight expansion’s paid editions and Forever’s subscription/Game Time access with optional upgrade bundles.
- Check your access. For Midnight, confirm you have or will obtain subscription or Game Time. For Forever, confirm you have an active subscription or Game Time; an Epic Pack or Collection’s 30 days begins at launch and is not permanent access.
- Match the add-ons to your play. Consider whether you will use a character boost, mount, transmog, pets, beta/early access, housing decor, or the included RTS content before paying more for a tier.
- Check version compatibility and restrictions. Midnight’s boost and items and Forever’s bundle items are not for WoW Classic. Confirm account eligibility and timing for name reservations and invite codes.
- Verify local terms immediately before buying. Prices, stock, and offer availability vary or change. The official material establishes the Forever Collection offer through January 11, 2027, but does not supply a dependable region-by-region price table.
For beta timing specifically, Blizzard listed the Forever beta window as September 17 through October 21, 2026; that window is date-bound, not a continuing feature of the bundle. Blizzard’s beta announcement gives the window.
