Versa announced VersaONE Universal SASE Platform Release 23.1.1 on February 10, 2026, adding vendor-described AI-enhanced OCR and contextual data loss prevention (DLP), alert correlation and troubleshooting through its Verbo co-pilot, and expanded edge-platform support. Versa says the enhancements are available with Release 23.1.1. The announcement describes intended capabilities, not independently measured accuracy, operational safety, or performance.

What changed in VersaONE Release 23.1.1?

The upgrade focuses on three areas: inspecting content for sensitive information, helping operators interpret and troubleshoot events, and supporting services on edge infrastructure. Versa describes these changes as a unified SASE foundation for enterprise AI adoption; the release materials do not provide a head-to-head comparison with other platforms.

Area What Versa says is new What the cited material does not establish
Data protection AI-enhanced OCR for embedded text and AI-enabled contextual DLP Measured detection accuracy, false-positive rates, or comparative test results
Operations Related-event correlation and alert grouping or suppression, with root-cause explanations; expanded Verbo co-pilot capabilities Independent validation of explanations or recommendations, or whether every suggested action is safe for a particular environment
Edge infrastructure Containerized services in uCPE service chains, with Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux kernel 6.8 support A validated list of compatible hardware or deployment test results

How does the data-protection update work?

OCR for text inside files

Versa says its AI-enhanced optical character recognition (OCR) detects and analyzes text embedded in images, PDFs, and presentations. This is intended to extend inspection beyond text that is already directly readable as ordinary document content.

Contextual DLP

The release adds AI-enabled contextual DLP. Versa says text analysis helps identify sensitive data more accurately, reduce false positives, and recognize manipulation intended to evade traditional DLP. The company describes coverage across file types and workflows, including cloud, SaaS, and AI-enabled environments.

Network World’s February 10, 2026 coverage also discusses inline cloud access security broker (CASB) inspection and policy enforcement in connection with the release, citing Versa material and product executive Dogu Narin. Neither that account nor Versa’s announcement supplies comparative accuracy measurements or false-positive data. Organizations evaluating the update should establish which file types and traffic paths their configuration actually inspects, how classification and policies work, and whether processing sends data outside their environment.

What changes for network and security operations?

Versa says the updated workflow recognizes traffic and behavioral patterns, correlates related events, groups or suppresses related alerts, and surfaces an explanation of a likely root cause. Its examples span several kinds of operational signals:

FortiGate-60F Network Security Appliance Plus 1 Year FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection (UTP) and FortiCare Premium (FG-60F-BDL-950-12)
  • HARDWARE PLUS SECURITY SERVICES: FortiGate-60F Firewall Appliance bundled with 1 year of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection.
  • UNIFIED THREAT PROTECTION (UTP): Secures against advanced online threats with comprehensive web filtering and anti-botnet technologies.
  • OPTIMIZED FOR MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES: Tailored for businesses needing robust security without the infrastructure of larger enterprises.
  • RELIABLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT: FortiCare Premium ensures high-quality support and service continuity.
  • EFFECTIVE PROTECTION: Employs advanced filtering technologies to safeguard against sophisticated threats.
  • Networking: link failures, routing instability, and degraded connectivity.
  • Network security: deep-packet-inspection traffic and classification of unknown traffic.
  • Data movement: anomalous file transfers and possible exfiltration.
  • User experience: latency and bandwidth contention.

Alert grouping can help operators investigate related symptoms together, but the release description does not establish how reliably the system identifies causes or how suppressed alerts are made visible to administrators. Buyers should check whether they can inspect the underlying events and explanations, tune suppression, and audit changes to alert handling.

What does the Verbo co-pilot add?

Versa says it enhanced Verbo with agentic AI capabilities using its Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration. The company describes conversational issue identification, guided troubleshooting, and recommended actions. Network World additionally reports Versa descriptions of documentation, debugging, tool-calling, and MCP agents, as well as a connection between Versa Behavioral Insights and Verbo.

These are product descriptions, not independent validation of recommendation quality. Before using an AI co-pilot in operations, administrators should determine which systems and data it can access, whether a person must approve actions before execution, what activity is logged, and how to reverse changes if a recommendation has an unwanted effect.

What is new in the edge infrastructure?

Versa says uCPE can now support containerized services within service chains. The release also identifies Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux kernel 6.8 support, which Versa presents as a basis for compatibility with SoC-based hardware and AI frameworks. The cited release coverage does not provide a hardware compatibility list or deployment results, so support for those software components should not be read as universal hardware compatibility.

In a separate announcement on March 19, 2026, Versa described a collaboration with Intel to explore selected AI/ML workloads at the intelligent edge using Intel Xeon 6 processors. That later collaboration is adjacent context; it does not establish that a particular Xeon processor is required for Release 23.1.1.

Because the published descriptions do not settle implementation details or quantify outcomes, an evaluation should focus on the organization’s own policies and environment:

  • Which file types, applications, and traffic paths are inspected, including inline CASB coverage?
  • How are sensitive-data classifications and DLP policies configured, and how will false positives and missed detections be assessed?
  • Where does inspection occur, what information leaves the organization, and what data-retention controls apply?
  • Can operators review correlated events and root-cause explanations, and control or audit alert grouping and suppression?
  • Do Verbo recommendations require approval, what tools can an agent call, and how are actions logged and reversed?
  • Which operating systems, kernel versions, SoC platforms, and hardware models are supported for the intended service chain?
  • What independent test evidence, service terms, and total costs apply to the proposed deployment?
