Valheim 1.0 Achievement Checklist: How to Unlock All 55

Valheim 1.0 contains 55 achievements in five groups: eight boss, five exploration, two combat, nine building and crafting, and 31 general achievements. The safest route to 100% is a fresh character and world created after installing 1.0, because achievement statistics start tracking when the 1.0 download is installed. This checklist explains every requirement, the order that minimizes backtracking, and how to recover from common tracking problems.

How Valheim 1.0 achievement tracking works

Iron Gate says the achievement system begins tracking statistics from the moment you download the 1.0 version. Earlier progress is not automatically converted. For example, killing Eikthyr before 1.0 does not satisfy the Eikthyr achievement; you must kill Eikthyr again after 1.0 is installed.

Use a clean, post-1.0 character and world if you want the least ambiguous run. Most developer commands, spawned items and certain modifiers, including hammer-mode, can block achievements. Iron Gate describes a temporarily cheated character as ineligible while it is in that state; eligibility can return after you discard every cheated item from the character’s inventory. The practical approach is to keep commands, spawned gear and modified characters out of your completion save.

Valheim 1.0 introduced the Deep North and the achievement system. Iron Gate’s 1.0.16 announcement also records fixes for achievements that failed to unlock correctly, including Child of Odin and Comfort is King. If a condition is clearly complete but no notification appears, update the game before attempting the requirement again.

All 55 achievements

The counts and tracked totals below follow the Valheim.tools database accessed in 2026. Where an achievement depends on a hidden checklist, the table identifies the exact tracked total rather than guessing at undocumented subconditions.

Bosses (8)

These eight kills follow the game’s biome progression. Do not assume that an old-world kill is enough; the 1.0 tracking rule applies to every statistic, and Iron Gate explicitly calls out Eikthyr as a kill that may need repeating.

Exploration (5)

The Sailor total is cumulative, whereas The Captain counts only distance traveled while you are actively at the helm. You can work on both during normal voyages, but a passenger’s travel does not substitute for helm time. Plan the edge-of-world deaths and map-disabled expedition separately so you do not accidentally lose a valuable transport run.

Combat (2)

The database’s 105-type list is the authoritative checklist for these two achievements. Record each kill as you progress rather than relying on memory; rare creatures and biome-specific variants are easy to overlook. A kill made below Hard difficulty does not satisfy The Master Hunter’s difficulty requirement.

Building and crafting (9)

The Homesteader and The Architect use internal construction checks, so a visually impressive structure is not necessarily valid. Build with every required floor, wall, roof and village element represented, then allow the game to register the structure before dismantling it. Keep a written list of crafted weapons, items and build pieces; the 164, 473 and 389 totals are broad enough that an untracked variant can be missed.

General (31)

A practical route to 100% completion

The fastest route is not simply “kill every boss.” Several achievements depend on cumulative activity, hidden item lists, difficulty settings or multiplayer conditions. Use separate milestones so an early mistake does not force a complete restart.

1. Create a clean tracking run

1. Install and launch Valheim 1.0, then create a new character and world.
2. Do not use developer commands, spawned items or hammer-mode on that character.
3. Record your world number and keep a backup before major difficulty or multiplayer experiments.
4. Open the achievement screen regularly so you can see which counters are moving.

Existing worlds can still be useful, but any statistic earned before the 1.0 download may be absent. Repeating the action in the clean run is safer than trying to infer whether an old save was counted.

2. Follow biome progression while banking cumulative work

Kill the eight bosses in progression order, beginning with Eikthyr and continuing through The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Seeker Queen, Fader and Kall Fimbulbringer. During each biome visit, kill unfamiliar creatures, collect trophies, gather food ingredients and mark treasure locations. This turns mandatory exploration into progress toward The Hunter, The Trophy Collector, The Gourmet and The Treasure Hunter instead of a second pass later.

Keep a separate normal-difficulty boss route and a Hard-difficulty route. The Viking accepts any difficulty, The Tough Viking requires Normal or higher, and The Toughest Viking requires Hard. The Master Hunter also requires Hard or above for the complete 105-creature set. Raising difficulty after partial progress is useful, but do not assume lower-difficulty kills retroactively satisfy a Hard requirement.

3. Complete the exploration requirements deliberately

Use a reliable boat and mark the four map edges as you reach them for The Explorer. Then disable the map before repeating the four-edge journey for The Pathfinder. Keep the helm occupied long enough to accumulate 65,973 helm units and continue sailing until the cumulative total reaches 131,946 units for The Captain and The Sailor. Finally, reserve a controlled voyage for The Legends Are True: sailing over the world edge is an intentional death, so carry no irreplaceable equipment.

4. Build and craft in batches

Construct the Homesteader house and Architect village before dismantling your main base. The Homesteader checks a house’s tracked floor, wall, roof and related properties; The Architect checks eight village conditions. Build at a stable location, sleep or reload if necessary, and verify the achievement before demolition.

Use a spreadsheet with one row per weapon, item and build piece. Crafting an item once is enough for its checklist, but the game still requires all 164 tracked weapons for The Blacksmith and all 473 tracked items for The Artisan. Place every one of the 389 tracked build pieces at least once for The Carpenter, then continue placing inexpensive pieces until the total reaches 500 for The Builder. Keep materials in labeled chests so a missing recipe can be identified instead of guessed.

For Mighty Halls, measure the highest valid building point until the tracked maximum reaches 49. Top of the World uses a separate world-height value of 432, so reaching one height does not automatically satisfy the other. Build temporary towers only after confirming that the pieces are supported and the game is counting them.

The Chosen One is a special crafting milestone: assemble Dyrnwyn when its complete recipe and components are available. Because the achievement depends on assembly rather than merely finding a component, perform the final craft on the clean tracking character.

5. Schedule the general counters

• Plant a permanent crop field and harvest it repeatedly toward 500. Keep bee hives active until 500 honey has been harvested.
• Cook in large batches until 100 dishes are registered, then work through the 81-dish list for The Master Chef.
• Eat ordinary meals during travel, but reserve a checklist session for the 96 edible items required by The Gourmet. Mark each food immediately after eating it.
• Cut trees as you clear building sites; the cumulative total for The Lumberjack is 500. For the tree-death achievement, deliberately test each of the 10 tracked tree conditions with spare equipment.
• Collect trophies instead of discarding duplicates until all 70 tracked trophies are recorded.
• Start a no-risk 30-day survival segment for The Survivor. Avoid deaths, world transfers and experiments that could interrupt the consecutive-day counter.
• Raise comfort to level 20 in a dedicated furnished room. Comfort is King had a reported unlock bug fixed in patch 1.0.16, so update before troubleshooting a legitimate completion.
• Find and open 10 buried treasure chests, and keep a map of completed sites to prevent counting the same location twice.
• Catch all 12 fish types for The Fisherman, then continue fishing until a four-star fish triggers A Catch Worthy of Njord.
• Awaken a sea creature for No Time For Snoozing, and use a safe location for the incinerator death required by Obliterated.

Managing deaths and special conditions

The First of Many needs one death followed by continuing the journey, while Accidents Happen needs a tree death and Obliterated needs an incinerator death. Are You Alright? combines 16 tracked death methods, and That Can’t Be an Accident? combines 10 tree conditions. Treat these as a checklist project: use a spare character loadout, empty valuable inventory, record each successful method and recover your gravestone before moving on. Do not assume that one dramatic death satisfies every related condition.

The Pugilist is the most restrictive combat challenge because all bosses must be defeated with fists. The Viking, Tough Viking and Toughest Viking are separate completion checks, so a fist-only run can be planned on the required difficulty without replacing your ordinary progression run. Odin is Pleased similarly requires all five minibosses, which should be logged as soon as each appears.

Multiplayer achievements without invalidating solo progress

Stronger Together requires killing a boss with a friend, while Lone Wolf requires killing a boss entirely solo. Schedule two clearly documented boss fights: one with another player present and one in which no other player participates in the kill. A friend can join the world for preparation, but if you are targeting Lone Wolf, perform the final boss encounter alone and avoid ambiguous assistance.

These conditions are independent of the eight-boss completion achievements. You can use an early boss for the multiplayer kill and reserve a later boss for the solo kill, provided the required tracking rules and difficulty conditions are met.

When an achievement does not unlock

1. Confirm the game is updated to a build that includes the 1.0.16 fixes.
2. Check that the action happened after the 1.0 download; repeat an old milestone, especially Eikthyr, on the current save.
3. Review whether developer commands, spawned items or hammer-mode were active. Remove every cheated item from a temporarily cheated character before attempting the requirement again.
4. Compare your counter with the exact scope: The Captain counts helm distance, The Sailor counts total sailing distance, and Hard-only achievements do not accept lower-difficulty kills.
5. For list achievements, mark every member of the required set rather than relying on the notification alone: 105 creatures, 70 trophies, 81 dishes, 96 foods, 12 fish, 164 weapons, 473 items or 389 build pieces.
6. Leave and reload the world after a large batch, then perform one additional qualifying action. If the tracker remains unchanged, reproduce the requirement on the clean post-1.0 save.

Iron Gate specifically acknowledged and fixed Child of Odin and Comfort is King unlock failures in patch 1.0.16. Those fixes do not change the requirements; they make a correctly completed requirement register reliably on an updated game.

The final 100% check

Use The Most Worthy as the final gate: it unlocks only after every other achievement is complete. Before expecting it, verify the dependency chains for Kings and Queens of Valheim and Child of Odin, then confirm that both multiplayer conditions, all exploration edge runs and every tracked list have registered. A clean post-1.0 character, written checklists and separate Normal, Hard and multiplayer sessions remove most uncertainty from the final climb.
