Bookmark’s AiDA can generate a first website draft quickly, but “in two minutes” describes an initial build—not a finished, checked business site. You still need to supply a brief, review the generated pages, make edits, confirm business details and publish. Bookmark’s May 2, 2017 launch announcement said AiDA could create the first version in under two minutes; treat that as a dated vendor claim, not a guaranteed current benchmark.
What AiDA does—and what the two-minute claim means
AiDA stands for Artificial Intelligence Design Assistant. Bookmark introduced it in 2017 as a tool that used a business brief to generate a website draft, including design and page content. The launch announcement described millions of possible design combinations and claimed the first version could be created in under two minutes: Bookmark’s May 2, 2017 announcement.
That claim is about producing the first version, not researching your business, verifying its claims, polishing every page or completing publication. A separate SitePoint walkthrough reported that its page sections were finished after about 30 seconds in that author’s test, after entering a brief. That is one author’s observation, not the same measurement as Bookmark’s launch claim: SitePoint’s walkthrough.
How to create a site with AiDA
Bookmark’s current guide describes three starting routes: begin from an example, describe your business in natural language, or modernise an existing site. The exact prompts and available options may vary as the product changes. The overall workflow is:
#1 Best Overall
- HTML CSS Design and Build Web Sites
- Comes with secure packaging
- It can be a gift option
- Choose a starting route. Use an example, explain what the business needs, or start a modernisation flow for an existing site.
- Give AiDA a useful brief. Include the business type and name, contact information, website goals and features you need. A historical walkthrough shows questions about the site type, business identity, information, logo and e-commerce; its author reported more than 600 business-type choices at that time. Those are historical details, not a promise about today’s interface: SitePoint’s walkthrough.
- Generate the first draft. AiDA can create page structure, copy, colours, imagery and sections based on your input. The result is a starting point; inspect each generated element rather than assuming it accurately represents your business.
- Ask for changes or edit visually. Use conversational requests for larger structural or content changes—for example, a different homepage layout, a contact section, new colours or rewritten copy. Use the visual editor for smaller adjustments. Bookmark’s guide describes reviewing AI changes before they go live: Bookmark’s AiDA guide.
- Add the functions the business needs. Depending on the available plan and setup, that may include contact forms, appointments, service lists, portfolios, price lists, menus, customer reviews or shop products. Check that each feature is configured and works as intended.
- Check the site and publish. Review it on mobile and desktop; verify every business claim, contact detail, image, link and SEO field. Then approve the changes and publish through the product’s workflow.
What to check before publishing
AI-generated material can save setup time, but it does not know whether a business detail is correct unless you verify it. Before making the site public, check:
- Business name, address, phone number, email, opening hours and service area.
- Descriptions, prices, availability, qualifications, guarantees and other claims that could mislead customers if wrong.
- Image suitability and permissions, plus whether images accurately represent the business.
- Navigation, forms, booking links and shop functions by testing them yourself.
- Mobile layout, spelling, page titles, meta descriptions and other SEO settings.
AiDA usage, plans and editing limits
Current one.com documentation describes AI use as metered: requests consume an allowance, larger requests can consume more, and the allowance resets monthly. The documentation does not give a reliable conversion from an allowance to a fixed number of pages. Manual editing remains possible after the AI allowance is used. Check the current plan terms for your region and hosting category before choosing a plan, since allowances and other plan details can change: one.com’s AiDA usage explanation.

One.com also distinguishes its classic drag-and-drop Website Builder from the Aida AI Website Builder. An existing classic site cannot simply be moved into the AI builder; a modernisation flow can recreate a site instead. Confirm the migration implications before starting if you already have a site: one.com’s builder and usage documentation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is AiDA a good fit for your business?
AiDA is most useful when you want a hosted first draft and are willing to review and refine it. It is not a substitute for checking content, setting up business functions, or deciding whether the builder’s terms suit your needs. When comparing it with another website builder, weigh these factors rather than draft speed alone:
Rank #3
- How well the generated copy and imagery fit the business.
- Whether you prefer conversational changes or direct drag-and-drop editing, and how freely you can revise the result.
- Support for the forms, bookings, portfolio, menu or e-commerce features you need.
- SEO controls, domain and hosting terms, AI-use limits, support and total cost.
- Whether you can export or migrate the site if you later switch platforms.
The available product descriptions establish these as relevant comparison points, but do not establish a current, apples-to-apples performance ranking against other builders. Check current plan, domain, hosting and availability details directly before committing.
