TTDL is an open-source Rust command-line app for managing task lists in the todo.txt format. It supports adding, organizing, editing, completing, and tracking tasks from a terminal, including due dates, recurring tasks, and time tracking.
What is TTDL?
TTDL stands for Terminal ToDo List. It is designed for people who want to manage plain-text todo.txt task data with terminal commands rather than a graphical task manager. The project documentation describes it as a todo.txt task-list manager.
Docs.rs lists TTDL version 6.2.2, released July 11, 2026. Homebrew also lists 6.2.2 as its stable version; check the project’s current release information before installing because versions can change.
What can you do with TTDL?
TTDL covers the main task lifecycle as well as due dates and time tracking. Its commands include:

The documentation also describes recurring tasks: marking one done advances its due date, while the task remains incomplete.

Those platform details describe the listed Homebrew bottles, not necessarily every way TTDL can be built or run.
Does TTDL work with todo.txt?
Yes. TTDL manages todo.txt-format data, so it is intended for task lists stored in that format rather than a proprietary database. If you already maintain todo.txt files, this format compatibility is central to TTDL’s workflow. Check the project documentation for its precise handling of task syntax and configuration options.

c:Users{username}AppDataRoamingttdlttdl.toml - macOS:
