For a family of one, the Ember Ceramic Frypan 2.0 is the easiest of these three pans to recommend for everyday cooking; the SuperPan makes sense when you regularly cook larger meals, while the heavy cast-iron tawa is a more specialized choice. That is the practical takeaway from Hindustan Times reviewer Soumya Srivastava’s two-week, almost-daily trial of products supplied by Ember. The test is useful for comparing handling and cooking tasks, but it is too short to establish long-term durability.

What the two-week Ember cookware trial found

In a review updated October 2, 2026, Hindustan Times’ Soumya Srivastava tried the Ceramic Frypan 2.0, Titanium-Clad Cast Iron Tawa and SuperPan. She cooked a range of everyday dishes and found that each piece had a distinct role. The products were sent to Hindustan Times by Ember for review, so the results are the reviewer’s firsthand experience with supplied cookware, not an independent laboratory comparison. Which Ember pan fits your cooking?

Cookware Best fit Review experience and handling Article-reported price, October 2, 2026
Ceramic Frypan 2.0 Quick everyday meals, eggs and smaller portions About 700 g. The reviewer cooked Maggi, egg bhurji and macaroni, and reported little sticking with little oil. It was easy to handle and wash. ₹2,999 — Hindustan Times, 2026; not a confirmed live price.
SuperPan Larger curries, fried rice and cooking that needs more surface area About 1.6 kg. The reviewer successfully made amchur bhindi, kadhai paneer, chole and fried rice. It has a stainless-steel main handle and a silicone holder for the smaller side handle. ₹7,499 — Hindustan Times, 2026; not a confirmed live price.
Titanium-Clad Cast Iron Tawa Rotis, parathas, toast and other griddle cooking 30 cm and about 2.7 kg. The reviewer made rotis and parathas, tried uttapam and toasted bread. Early browning was uneven, washing felt cumbersome, and the short side handles became very hot; she also had successful toast and uttapam results. ₹4,000 — Hindustan Times, 2026; not a confirmed live price.

These are the prices and approximate weights or dimensions reported in the Hindustan Times article, not verified current store listings. Check Ember’s official catalog and the delivery region before using a price to make a purchase decision.

Ceramic Frypan 2.0: the simplest everyday pick

For one person who often cooks quick meals, the roughly 700 g frypan was the most straightforward fit in the trial. The reviewer used it for Maggi, egg bhurji and macaroni, and browned onions and garlic with about a teaspoon of oil. She reported minimal sticking and found the pan easy to handle and clean. Those are encouraging short-term observations, not a promise that food will never stick or that the coating will remain unchanged over time.

SuperPan: useful when one-person cooking still means a larger pan

The SuperPan weighs about 1.6 kg according to the review, more than twice the frypan’s approximate weight, but gave the reviewer room for dishes such as kadhai paneer, chole and fried rice. Its larger cooking area can be useful if you prefer to make extra portions or cook dishes that need more surface. The reviewer describes it as uncoated and says Ember describes its finish as a titanium-enhanced surface engineered into layered stainless steel. The article says metal utensils can be used, while warning that sharp edges and repetitive scraping can damage the engineered surface.

Titanium-Clad Cast Iron Tawa: choose it for the griddle, not convenience

The 30 cm tawa is the most specialized and, at about 2.7 kg, the heaviest option in the trial. It worked for flatbreads and toast, but the reviewer needed practice to get even browning, found it cumbersome to wash and noted that its short side handles became very hot. Consider it if rotis, parathas or griddle cooking are regular parts of your routine and you are comfortable handling heavy cast iron; it is not the low-effort default for occasional solo meals.

Do you need all three Ember pans?

No. The reviewer explicitly said that a family of one did not need all three. Choose based on the task you actually repeat, rather than treating the collection as a necessary set:

  • Mostly quick meals and eggs: the Ceramic Frypan 2.0 is the most practical starting point in this trial.
  • Frequently cooking curries, vegetables or fried rice in a larger pan: the SuperPan has a clearer role.
  • Regular rotis, parathas or griddle cooking: the tawa may justify its weight and learning curve.

If two of those patterns fit, two pans may have a place in your kitchen. The trial offers no reason to buy the full trio simply because the pieces were reviewed together.

Care, coating claims and what the evidence establishes

Ceramic coating needs gentle use

Ember describes its Arcilla coating as made using water, clay and other ingredients, and says its ceramic cookware is free of PTFE and PFAS. Those are manufacturer statements, not independent findings that the cookware is healthier or harmless under every condition. Ember also says non-stick coatings wear over time. Its care guidance is to use low-to-medium heat, wooden or silicone utensils, gentle handwashing and a soft scrubber, and to let the pan cool before washing. Avoid metal utensils and abrasive scrubbers on the coated frypan. Ember’s material information explains its own coating claims and care recommendations.

Manufacturer testing is not a comparative independent report

Ember’s quality page describes tests including abrasion resistance, pencil hardness, coating adhesion, scratch resistance, egg release, corrosion resistance, handle fatigue and induction heating performance. The company says its handle-fatigue test involves 15,000 up-and-down cycles, and describes a dry-egg test lasting 2.5 minutes, with release scored on a five-to-one scale. These are Ember’s published test descriptions; the page does not provide an independent comparative report for the three models in Srivastava’s review. See Ember’s quality page.

Check warranty terms for the exact product

Ember’s published warranty information is inconsistent across its pages and the Hindustan Times review. The dedicated warranty page lists limited coverage of three years for ceramic cookware, ten years for cast iron and ten years for kitchen tools; it excludes causes including normal wear and tear, scratches, stains, overheating, thermal shock and metal-utensil damage. The FAQ says cookware has a five-year warranty, while the review describes a 9+1-year warranty for cast iron and a 5+1-year warranty for SuperPan. Because these statements do not agree, verify the exact model’s coverage and the seller’s terms before buying rather than assuming one duration applies to every product. Ember’s dedicated warranty page and FAQ state the brand’s current published information.

What this trial can—and cannot—tell you

Two weeks of almost-daily cooking provide a useful view of initial handling, cleanup and performance across several dishes. The trial cannot establish how the ceramic coating or engineered SuperPan surface will hold up over years of use, and it does not compare Ember with other cookware brands under controlled conditions. Treat the results as a practical account of one reviewer’s short-term experience, not a durability guarantee.
