1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor most players, the Standard Edition is the best buy: it includes the game, while Digital Deluxe mainly adds optional Season Pass cosmetics and attachments. Choose the native Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for its stated performance improvements, the Bracer Edition for its physical collectibles if it is still available at a price you like, or Deluxe if you specifically want its DLC bundle.
What each edition includes
| Edition | What you get | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The base game. Official listings show physical copies for Nintendo Switch and PS5, and digital copies for Switch, PS5 and Steam. | Most players who want the game without optional extras. |
| Digital Deluxe | The base game plus all Season Pass content. The publisher describes the pass as paid costumes and attachment items; consumables are excluded, and DLC is also available separately. | Players who already want the included cosmetic content. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | A digital edition with higher resolution and frame rate, plus shorter load times. The publisher says there are no changes to in-game content. | Switch 2 owners who value those performance improvements. |
| Bracer Edition | A collector bundle for Switch or PS5 containing the Standard game, SteelBook and foil slipcover, Launch Celebration Pack and classic Estelle/Joshua costume DLC, a wooden “The Whereabouts of Light” music box, art book, Bracer Guild notebook, mini soundtrack CD, Liberl cloth map and collector box. | Collectors who want the physical extras and can find the set at a reasonable current price. |
These contents and formats are from the publisher’s product information and the TechRadar review. Regional physical SKUs can vary, so confirm the exact listing before buying if a game card or disc matters to you.

Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard for the game itself
Standard is the straightforward choice for a first playthrough or for anyone unsure about the extras. Digital Deluxe does not add a separate story campaign in the publisher’s bundle description; it adds Season Pass content. If you only want the base game, paying for a bundle of optional cosmetics is unnecessary.
The game remakes the first Trails installment and follows Estelle and Joshua. GamesRadar describes it as a starting point while noting that Trails is an interconnected series; its guide does not identify a prior-game requirement. See the Nintendo US listing and GamesRadar’s guide.

Choose Digital Deluxe only if its DLC suits you
Deluxe bundles all Season Pass content with the game. Since the publisher says the pass consists of paid costumes and attachment items, and that DLC is sold individually, compare the local Deluxe price with Standard plus only the add-ons you actually want. The pass excludes consumables.
For context, the US PlayStation listing captured in 2026 showed Standard at $59.99, Digital Deluxe at $79.99 and the Season Pass at $24.99. Those are PlayStation US listing prices, not universal or permanent prices; check your own storefront and region before deciding. The PlayStation US listing is the source for that snapshot.

Choose Switch 2 Edition for the stated technical improvements
The publisher lists higher resolution, frame rate and shorter loading times for the Switch 2 Edition, while explicitly saying, “There will be no changes to in-game content.” It does not list a Digital Deluxe Edition for Switch 2. Buyers seeking DLC on Switch 2 are directed to Digital Deluxe plus the Upgrade Pack.
If you already own the Switch game, you can buy the paid Upgrade Pack to play the Switch 2 Edition. The pack does not include the game and is not playable on its own. Consult the publisher’s product page for the edition and upgrade details.

Choose Bracer Edition for collectibles, not presumed availability
The Bracer Edition is for buyers who value its physical items as well as the game. Its product page’s 2025 delivery window is historical and does not confirm stock in October 2026. Check the seller’s current availability, included contents and total price before treating it as an option.
Platform, format and language details
- Physical versus digital: Official product information lists physical Standard copies for Switch and PS5, and digital Standard copies for Switch, PS5 and Steam. TechRadar lists Switch as physical and digital, and Switch 2 and PC as digital only. If physical media is essential, verify the regional SKU with the retailer.
- Language: The publisher lists English, French, German and Spanish text, with English and Japanese voices, for Switch and PS5. Steam additionally lists Japanese text, alongside English and Japanese voices. Check the platform-specific specifications on the publisher’s product page if language support is decisive.
- Download size: Nintendo’s US listing shows 9.7 GB for both Switch and Switch 2. This is the listed file size, not a guarantee of the final space required after updates; check the Nintendo US page for current information.
Try the demo if you are unsure about the game
PlayStation lists a free demo. GamesRadar estimates it takes 5–7 hours to play, an editorial estimate rather than an official completion-time promise. If you are uncertain about the pacing or combat, see whether the demo is available on your platform before buying; availability may differ by storefront. Sources: PlayStation US and GamesRadar.
