TickTick is the better fit for managing deadlines, recurring tasks, and planned work; Google Keep is better for quickly capturing notes, making simple lists, and sharing a note with others. The key difference is what each app organizes around: TickTick centers on tasks and planning, while Keep centers on notes that can include checklists and reminders. Neither is a universal winner.
TickTick vs Google Keep at a glance
| What matters | TickTick | Google Keep |
|---|---|---|
| Organizing center | Tasks, schedules, reminders, and planning workflows | Notes, lists, drawings, and reminders attached to notes |
| Task planning | Lists, tags, smart filters, and list, Kanban, and timeline views. Multiple calendar views are a Premium feature, according to TickTick’s plan details. | Checklist items in notes can be reordered and indented; Google’s documentation emphasizes lists rather than comparable project-planning views. |
| Notes and capture | Task details can include notes, images, and Markdown. | Supports text notes, lists, drawings, labels, colors, pinning, and archiving. |
| Reminders | Supports recurring rules and several reminder types; some features are plan- or platform-specific. | Timed and recurring reminders can be attached to notes and are available through Keep, Google Tasks, and Google Calendar. |
| Collaboration | Emphasizes shared lists and assigning tasks. | Collaborators can edit shared notes, including lists, drawings, images, and audio recordings. |
These are feature-based distinctions, not results of hands-on testing. The product pages describe different priorities, so the best choice depends on whether your daily work starts with an action to manage or a note to capture.
How their task-management approaches differ
TickTick is built for organizing and planning tasks
TickTick’s feature set includes lists, tags, smart filters, and multiple ways to view work, including list, Kanban, and timeline modes. Tasks can also carry notes, images, and Markdown-formatted details, which is useful when an action needs instructions or reference material alongside its deadline. TickTick describes these capabilities on its Features page.
Its free plan includes basic list and Kanban views, task reminders, and cross-platform sync. Multiple calendar views and other capabilities are listed under Premium. That makes TickTick more compelling when you need to sort a larger workload, plan tasks over time, or keep deadlines and task context together—not merely record a short checklist.

Keep handles straightforward tasks inside notes
In Keep, a task can be a checklist item inside a note. Google documents creating lists, reordering items, and indenting them; the first item cannot be indented. This works naturally for groceries, packing, errands, or a short set of steps associated with a note. See Google’s guide to making a list.
The distinction is one of documented emphasis: Keep’s help focuses on lists within notes, while TickTick documents task-specific filters and planning views. Keep may be enough for simple to-dos, but the reviewed feature documentation does not establish an equivalent set of project-planning views.

Notes and quick capture
Google Keep puts notes first. Its tools include text notes, lists, drawings, labels, colors, pinning, and archiving. That makes it a natural place to capture an idea, save a quick reference, or keep a flexible list without first treating it as a scheduled task. Google describes its core workflow in How to use Google Keep.
TickTick’s note-like content is attached to tasks. A task can hold supporting notes, images, and Markdown, so the information stays with the action it explains. This is useful for task context, but those features alone do not establish TickTick as a full replacement for a dedicated knowledge base or long-form notes app.

Reminders and notifications
Google Keep reminders stay connected to notes
Keep lets you add timed or recurring reminders to notes. Google says a notification is sent at the configured date and time and again 24 hours afterward. The reminder can be checked in Keep, Google Tasks, and Google Calendar; that does not mean all three will necessarily send duplicate notifications. Google’s instructions are in Set up reminders for your notes.
TickTick offers more task-focused reminder options
TickTick lists multiple alert times, end-time notifications, recurring rules, email reminders, constant reminders, and location reminders for iOS. TickTick describes Constant Reminder this way: “After enabling Constant Reminder, notifications will keep ringing until you complete the task.” Email reminders are listed as a Premium feature, and location reminders are iOS-only, so check the relevant plan and device before choosing TickTick for a particular reminder workflow. Its feature descriptions and plan page identify these distinctions.

Sharing and collaboration
Keep shares the note itself for collaborative editing. Google says invitees can work with text, lists, images, drawings, and audio recordings; collaborators can also label, color, archive, or add reminders. This suits a shared household checklist or a note that several people need to update. See Google’s guide to sharing notes, lists, and drawings.
TickTick emphasizes sharing lists and assigning tasks to friends or colleagues. That is a better fit when collaboration revolves around who will complete an action. The available feature description does not establish specific permission levels or administrative controls, so do not assume particular role settings without checking the app.

TickTick Free vs Premium
TickTick’s upgrade page, reviewed on October 7, 2026, listed the following US prices and limits. These are vendor-published details observed on that date; availability, prices, and plan limits may vary by region or change.
| Plan | Listed price | Examples of listed features and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 | 9 lists, 99 tasks per list, task reminders, and cross-platform sync |
| Premium | US$49.99 per year | 299 lists, 999 tasks per list, multiple calendar views, task duration, and email reminders |
The plan comparison also lists higher Premium limits for attachments, checklist items, reminders, members, habits, and countdowns. Check TickTick’s current plan page for the price and limits that apply to your account. The reviewed Google Keep help pages describe features but do not provide a comparable account-level pricing breakdown, so they do not support a precise overall price comparison.
Which app should you choose?
Choose TickTick if you plan around tasks
- You manage many actionable items and want tags or filters to organize them.
- You need recurring or multiple reminders, or want task details attached to deadlines.
- You plan work using calendar, Kanban, timeline, or list views. Confirm that the specific view you need is included in your plan.
- You want to share lists or assign tasks rather than co-edit a general-purpose note.
Choose Google Keep if you capture notes and simple lists
- You want a quick place for short notes, drawings, and flexible checklists.
- You share notes that other people should be able to edit.
- You want reminders attached to notes and accessible through Google’s reminder experience.
- Your to-dos are simple enough to live as checklist items rather than needing dedicated planning views.
Use both only when the boundary is clear
You can use Keep for ideas or reference notes and TickTick for the action and its deadline. The feature descriptions cited here do not establish a native Keep-to-TickTick sync, so treat this as a manual separation of roles rather than an integrated workflow.
