Spain-based 3D artist and motion designer Ruye created an animation in which fabric pulls apart into ragged strands, then appears to stitch itself back together. The effect is both hypnotic and unsettling: familiar textile details move with the eerie purpose of something alive. Creative Bloq reported the piece and its production workflow on 2 October 2026.
What happens in the animation
The fabric opens into a ragged tear. Individual strands curl inward until the gap seems to close, turning an ordinary image of fraying cloth into an uncanny act of self-repair. Its surface suggests frayed denim, while the organic movement can make it feel almost flesh-like.
Creative Bloq describes the result as hypnotic and unsettling, and frames it as part of a trypophobia-inducing visual trend. That is an editorial description, not a clinical diagnosis or evidence that every viewer will react the same way.
How Ruye made the effect
According to Joe Foley’s Creative Bloq report, Ruye (@ruye__ruye) made the animation in Houdini, using Vellum for soft-body simulation and Octane for rendering. The report identifies Ruye as a 3D artist and motion designer based in Spain; its attribution is based on the article’s embedded Instagram posts.

Its account does not specify software versions, provide a project file, or include an independently verified interview or direct artist quotation. It also gives no audience study or measurement of how viewers responded.
