The Zebra says its new integration with Muse, an AI personal assistant, can carry details from your connected policy documents into The Zebra’s insurance-comparison workflow. That may save you from locating a declarations page and re-entering information, but it does not guarantee lower rates: the company describes a way to shop and track rates, not a promised saving or independently verified privacy protection.

What The Zebra announced

In an announcement dated October 1, 2026, The Zebra said it would offer an agent-to-agent integration with Muse. The company describes Muse as an AI personal assistant that can find relevant policy details and declarations pages in documents a user connects, then pass those details to The Zebra’s agent harness. The intended shortcut is to move from existing insurance information to personalized comparison results without manually finding and retyping the same details. The Zebra’s announcement and FAQ do not provide a rollout schedule, eligibility criteria, or independent performance measurements, so availability and results should not be assumed for every user.

Daniel Herrington, The Zebra’s chief AI officer, said: “People are already asking their AI assistants to help with everyday tasks, and this now extends to how people are finding ways to save on insurance.” The company’s stated value proposition is convenience in starting a comparison, rather than a different kind of insurance policy.

How to ask Muse to shop for auto insurance

The Zebra’s suggested request is: “Check The Zebra for auto insurance quotes.” According to the company, the assistant gathers existing policy and personal details from connected inbox or files and passes them to The Zebra, where the user proceeds to personalized comparison results.

  1. Connect the relevant inbox or files to Muse, if that option is available to you.
  2. Ask: “Check The Zebra for auto insurance quotes.”
  3. Review the handoff to The Zebra and the comparison results before deciding whether to interact with any offer.

The announcement says the agent-to-agent flow retains entered context across a browser handoff. The Zebra contrasts this with what it calls early ChatGPT apps, but gives no protocol name or independent comparative test; treat that distinction as the company’s explanation, not a verified technical comparison.

How automatic rate tracking differs

Rate tracking is a separate enrollment from requesting quotes. The Zebra’s example prompt is: “Sign me up for automatic rate tracking on The Zebra.” The company says that flow uploads a declarations page and registers the user’s email. It then monitors carrier rates daily and alerts the user if potential savings become available.

The announcement does not specify how potential savings are calculated, what triggers an alert, or whether an alert will lead to a cheaper policy. Daily monitoring is the feature The Zebra describes; it is not a savings guarantee.

What The Zebra says about sharing your information

The Zebra says information passed between Muse and its data harness is not shared with insurance carriers unless the consumer actively selects and interacts with a specific carrier offer. It also says the connector works behind the scenes and does not trigger visual advertisements or carrier placements until the user reaches the final results page. These are The Zebra’s descriptions of how the integration is designed to work, not findings from an independent privacy or security audit. The announcement does not supply a technical protocol name or an independent assessment.

What may appear in your comparison results

The Zebra’s partner disclosure, updated September 17, 2026, distinguishes between quoted partners and ad partners. Quoted partners provide real-time quotes on The Zebra’s platform; ad partners are paid placements that may send a shopper to an insurer’s own site to complete a quote. The Zebra says quotes are ranked by price, but availability and the results a particular shopper sees can vary.

Partner type What The Zebra says it means What to expect
Quoted partner Provides real-time quotes on The Zebra’s platform. You can review a quote on the comparison platform, subject to availability for your state and circumstances.
Ad partner A paid placement that may direct you to an insurer’s own site. You may need to complete the quote process on that insurer’s site.

Not every listed insurer is available in every state, and a shopper may see only a subset of partners. Driving history, claims record, credit information, state rules, and coverage restrictions can affect which quotes are available. The Zebra also says its U.S. auto-rate analysis covers “more than 83 million insurance rates”; that is the company’s description of its analysis, not a Muse result or an independent audit.

How The Zebra says it earns revenue

The Zebra’s partner disclosure says it earns a commission when a customer purchases through one of its licensed agents or buys a policy from a quote it provided. The disclosure says partner relationships do not determine quote ranking or editorial content. This disclosed commission model is distinct from the company’s description of the Muse handoff: the handoff itself is not described as a paid carrier placement.
