Play The Wolf Among Us in its numbered episode order: start with Faith, then continue through Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf. The original game has five main episodes, and the remastered edition contains the same complete story in the same order. Bonus scenes in the remaster are extras, not episodes to insert into the sequence.
If you are deciding which edition to buy, that choice does not change the story order. Check the exact platform and storefront listing, then start the season with Episode 1. The list is deliberately simple: each numbered episode follows the previous one. You do not need to sort episodes by release date, search for a hidden chapter, or choose a different order based on the edition. The official spelling of Episode 2 is Smoke and Mirrors; writing it with an ampersand is an unofficial variant, not a different chapter.
If you are choosing the original digital game, check that the store listing is for the full season spanning all five episodes. The original Steam listing describes a choice-and-consequence game starring Bigby Wolf; the practical instruction is simply to begin with Faith and move forward by episode number. This guide does not assume a particular menu layout, automatic episode progression, save-transfer process or console installation procedure. Use the episode numbers in the game or listing as your reference.

Telltale describes the remaster as including five fully playable Lost Scenes, a gallery of more than 100 images and more than an hour of developer interviews. Those are supplemental material; the five-episode sequence remains the story’s core. These figures describe included extras, not gameplay statistics, episode counts or a promise about how long the main game takes to finish. If your goal is to follow the main narrative, complete the numbered episodes in order and treat the Lost Scenes as bonus material. There is no instruction here to interleave them with particular episodes, because they are not numbered main chapters. Likewise, the gallery and interviews are extras to explore separately, not steps required to understand the story.
Should I play the original or the remaster?
This is a choice of edition and features, not of story order. Both versions tell the same five-episode story; consider the platform you own, digital versus physical format, the remaster’s presentation and bonus content, accessibility needs, and the price displayed at purchase time before buying. Confirm whether it is the original game or the remaster, whether the listing is digital or physical, which platform it serves, and whether it describes the full five-episode season. If you want the remaster’s extras, check that the product is specifically the remastered edition; a listing for an original disc should not be assumed to include remaster features. As of October 30, 2026, the remaster was listed as digitally available after its October 29 release for PC, PS5 and Xbox One, with Xbox Series X|S supported through backward compatibility. Telltale’s October 26 update moved the Nintendo Switch release to an unspecified later date and remastered physical retail editions to early 2027; it said, “Physical retail editions will follow in early 2027, with additional details to be announced.” That timing does not mean a remastered disc or Switch edition is available now. Its later October 26 update is the more current statement for launch timing: digital release on October 29 for PC, PS5 and Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility, Switch at an unspecified later date, and remastered physical retail editions in early 2027. They also note that original-game physical copies cannot be verified for the remaster’s digital-owner discount and that some eligible owners may not see the correct discount. This is a limited, date-bound offer, not a lasting price promise. Eligibility depends on the stated platform and ownership terms, so check the offer attached to the exact storefront listing and do not assume an original physical copy qualifies for a digital-owner discount. Treat any displayed store price as current to that storefront and date.
If you are looking for an original physical edition, a search such as “The Wolf Among Us PS4 physical game” or an Xbox One physical-game search can help identify the product category.
