Yes, if your PC meets the target for the resolution, frame rate and rendering features you want. For the September 29, 2026 Remastered release, the minimum target is 1080p at 30 FPS on Low settings, with a GTX 1660, Radeon RX 550 XT 8 GB or Intel Arc A580, a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM and an SSD. That is a starting point—not a promise of the same frame rate in every scene.

Which Witcher 3 PC requirements apply?

This guide covers The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, released September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED says the game can be rolled back to version 4.04 or Classic 1.32 on some platforms; the Remastered requirements below should not be applied automatically to those versions. The Remastered release is a free upgrade for eligible owners, according to CD PROJEKT RED’s release announcement.

The current PC release uses DirectX 12 rendering. Its updated technical features come with a new storage requirement: CD PROJEKT RED says an SSD is required. Windows 10 is no longer officially supported or tested. The publisher also clarifies that this does not mean the game will necessarily stop running on Windows 10 with the next update.

Remastered PC system requirements

The targets below are for the Remastered PC release. CD PROJEKT RED says expected FPS comes from its QA tests and can vary with the scene, gameplay, system configuration, settings and output resolution. The detailed table is embedded as an image on the publisher’s requirements page; the figures below are transcribed in PC Gamer’s September 29, 2026 coverage. They are targets, not guaranteed results for every PC.

For RT Minimum, RT Recommended and Path Tracing, CD PROJEKT RED’s test assumptions used DLSS, FSR or XeSS set to Auto; the other configurations were tested at native resolution. Path Tracing also used upscaling and frame generation. Those different assumptions matter when comparing a PC with a tier: an upscaled output target is not the same as rendering every pixel natively.

How to choose a target for your PC

1. Check your processor, memory and graphics card

  1. Press Windows key + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter.
  2. On the System tab, check the processor and memory. On the Display tab, check the graphics card.
  3. Compare those parts with the examples in the table, especially the GPU and its VRAM. The publisher’s graphics-card support statement refers to full-size desktop cards; laptop GPU names and performance can differ, so a laptop model with a similar name is not necessarily equivalent.

The listed processors and graphics cards are examples for each target, not a complete ranking of every component. The published figures do not establish a universal equivalence for unlisted parts, so treat a near-match as a reason to test the game rather than as a guaranteed pass or fail.

2. Pick resolution and frame rate before preset

Choose the resolution you actually play at, then decide whether 30 or 60 FPS is your goal. In the requirements table, 1080p, 1440p and 2160p are output targets for the stated performance tier—not minimum resolutions needed to launch the game. Higher output resolutions require more pixels to be processed and generally reduce performance. CD PROJEKT RED illustrates the difference with 5120×2880, which has about four times the pixels of 2560×1440; that does not mean performance drops by exactly fourfold.

  • For a starting point of 1080p/30 on Low, compare your system with Minimum.
  • For 1080p/60 on High, compare with Recommended.
  • For 1440p/60 on Ultra, compare with Ultra.

These are useful reference points, not a guarantee that every location will hold the target. If your PC is close to a tier but falls short in play, adjust settings and assess performance at your chosen output resolution.

3. Decide whether ray tracing or Path Tracing matters to you

Compare the RT tiers separately from standard High or Ultra. RT Minimum targets 1080p/30 and RT Recommended targets 1440p/60, with upscaling included in the test assumptions. A lower-resolution internal render, reconstructed to your display output by DLSS, FSR or XeSS, can help performance, but image quality and the available upscaler depend on the hardware and settings you use.

Path Tracing is a much higher target: 4K/60 with DLSS and Frame Generation, using the listed RTX 5080 and high-end processors. It is a demanding visual-feature target, not a general requirement to play Remastered. If you do not specifically want Path Tracing, use one of the standard or RT tiers that matches your preferred settings.

4. Confirm the operating system and SSD separately

All listed tiers call for a 60 GB SSD. Check both that the game drive is an SSD and that it has enough available space for the installation. Windows 10’s removal from official support and testing is a compatibility qualification, not a claim that the game will certainly stop working on that OS.

What to try if performance is worse than expected

Test NVIDIA HairWorks off

CD PROJEKT RED Technical Support has advised disabling NVIDIA HairWorks if it affects performance. Its October 1, 2026 Hotfix 5.00c also reverted a change associated with major HairWorks performance and visual problems for some players. If performance is poor, test with HairWorks disabled and check the publisher’s current support information after later patches, since the advice may change.

Recheck what you are comparing

  • Make sure the comparison is for Remastered rather than version 4.04 or Classic 1.32.
  • Match the resolution and rendering mode: standard rendering, ray tracing and Path Tracing have different targets.
  • Remember that the RT and Path Tracing FPS targets assume upscaling, and Path Tracing also assumes frame generation.
  • Use the published FPS as a reference, not a guaranteed minimum in every scene.
