The Sims 4 October 27, 2026 base-game update is now live, replacing the preview’s “coming tomorrow” wording. Electronic Arts’ released notes list more than 150 bug fixes, including a major Dine Out pass, 14 crash or assert fixes, food-system changes, Create-a-Sim repairs and a free Elder-themed content drop. The update is version 1.129.39.1030 on PC, 1.129.39.1230 on Mac and 2.40 on consoles.
What does the October 27 Sims 4 update add?
The free update combines gameplay fixes with a small Elder-themed release and several quality-of-life controls. Its most visible additions are the following:
- Two hairstyles, four clothing assets, five recolors, vintage Build Mode objects, four Elder Styled Looks, one Styled Room and a new Gallery household.
- Separate save-level switches for muscle changes and weight changes, plus matching controls for individual Sims through Sim Physique interactions.
- More than 375 pre-existing dishes added to the Family Recipes pool.
- Food-menu and baking changes, including Open moving to the front of refrigerator menus and Quickly Decorate for awkwardly placed baked goods.
- Television locking by Sim category and a consolidated Sim Options menu for self-interactions.
- Improved save-backup tracking for players who leave a save untouched for long periods.
The muscle and weight controls apply to Sims, not pets. They can be changed in Game Options for a save or through Sim Physique interactions for an individual Sim.

How many bugs does the Sims 4 update fix?
Electronic Arts describes the release as containing more than 150 bug fixes. That is a headline figure rather than an exact public total, so it should not be read as precisely 150 or precisely 130. The notes separately identify 25-plus Dine Out fixes and 14 crash or assert fixes.

Did the update finally fix Dine Out?
It fixes a large, clearly identified group of Dine Out problems, but the released notes do not promise that every restaurant issue is gone. The Sims Team says some investigations may still have missed cases, and a few changes act as safeguards for problems it could not reproduce.
Customer behavior
Customers are less likely to abandon tables for jogging, viewing décor, digging through trash, hugging, University homework, Neighborhood Action Plan activities, television, mirror pep talks, celebrity watching, paper airplanes or sword duels. Sims are also more likely to remain seated while dining.
Staff, food and restaurant systems
The patch repairs waiter shifts, customer and employee interactions, recipe skill requirements, standing-and-eating behavior, waiter dish cleanup, table footprints, restaurant funds, uniforms and weather-based guest clothing. It also addresses the “Error Code: 123:6346675a” restaurant travel problem.

Festival food stalls can remain open; grills respond better to weather; Fizzy Juice pricing and autonomy are corrected; Simple Living handles salmon and raspberry pie properly; nectar quantities report correctly; faux-meat butter chicken is treated as vegetarian-safe; FireBOSS Grill attributes, pressure-cooker overuse and scheduled dish cleaning are adjusted; and Tartosa’s Chinese-inspired food stand sells food instead of produce.
What stability and loading problems are fixed?
The patch targets several failures that can stop a save from being playable. It makes navigation-mesh handling more robust after placing lots that use heavy Move Objects, fixes an infinite white screen on certain rental saves, and addresses bartender ordering while bartenders are busy, infant sleep behavior, frozen Sims, werewolf-transformation corruption, Reborn infant placement and routing freezes.
The 14 listed crash or assert fixes include Windows signed-file crashes, PC and Mac lot-loading crashes, trait incompatibilities, Origin launch failures, romance-progression problems, large-family Gallery uploads and a PlayStation main-menu network race. What changes affect Create-a-Sim and autonomy?
Create-a-Sim corrections
Create-a-Sim no longer carries Base Layer filters between Sims. Hair and eye colors should not revert after a full-body asset change, overalls return across outfit categories, and occult-form editing and Werewolf visual distortion receive fixes.
Autonomy and simulation
Autonomy corrections cover sleep queues, venue visitors, birthday-party invitations, hot-tub romance, infant simulation and daycare returns, stuck soccer interactions, non-player-character couples at venues and unwanted romantic stargazing.
Which general save and world problems are addressed?
Other fixes cover save corruption, missing lots, basement camera positioning, furniture disappearing from adjacent apartments, Sulani deep-water swimming, seasonal gift restrictions, extreme muscle or weight changes after free weights or sword fighting, and save-data problems involving deleted households and scandals.

Restart the EA app, Steam or console software and check for the update before loading a save. If your platform displays an older build, do not assume the patch failed until the launcher has finished downloading and applying it.

- Move the Mods folder out temporarily, then start the game once with custom content disabled.
- Test a copy of a save rather than your only live save.
- Check each mod creator’s compatibility notes before restoring files, and remove outdated script mods first.
- Re-enable content in small groups so a returning crash or missing interaction can be traced.
Do not save over a modded household while important custom content is missing; doing so can remove objects or appearance data from that save.
What should players expect after installing?
Immediate improvements are most likely in refrigerator menus, leftovers, restaurant routing, seating, food placement, save recovery and CAS editing. The breadth of the notes means some fixes are highly situational, while the team’s qualification about unresolved Dine Out investigations and mod-related crashes means no single patch should be treated as a guarantee that every player sees the same result.

Is the Elder content free in the October 2026 update?

Yes. The two settings are independent: turn weight changes off while leaving muscle changes on, or do the reverse. The save-level controls are in Game Options, while per-Sim controls are available through Sim Physique interactions.
Are pets affected by the new physique settings?
No. The new muscle and weight switches apply to Sims only; the update does not extend those controls to pets.
Why does the patch still mention Dine Out investigations?
The released notes acknowledge that some restaurant reports may not have been reproducible or fully covered. That means the listed fixes are substantial but are not a promise that every Dine Out failure has been eliminated.
