The Curb is inviting readers, listeners, filmmakers and other creatives to complete its first reader survey and help shape the site’s future coverage and offerings. Andrew F Peirce, who runs the Curb, says it should take about 10–15 minutes; he also says you can skip questions you are uncomfortable answering.

What the survey asks about

Peirce describes the Curb as a hyper-independent site focused on film and culture. He says the team chooses coverage based on what interests them and wants feedback on whether that work is useful to its audience. The survey is intended to help the site better understand its audience and refine what it covers and offers.

  • What you like, dislike or want to see covered.
  • How filmmakers and creatives feel about the Curb’s support for their work.
  • What paid subscribers would like to receive in return for their support.

Peirce says the Curb had been operating for eight years when he announced the survey. He also notes that the site had shifted to a newsletter format with paid options almost a year earlier. The announcement does not specify subscription prices, tiers, benefits or terms.

Time, deadline and participation

Peirce estimates that completing the survey will take 10–15 minutes. The announcement says respondents may skip questions they are uncomfortable answering, and encourages readers to share the survey with others who may want to take part.

What to know before you respond

Comments may be used to promote the Curb

Peirce says survey comments may be used to help market or raise awareness of the site. If you respond, bear that potential use in mind when writing anything you would prefer not to see used for promotional purposes.

The optional prize-pack entry is limited to Australians

At the end of the survey, respondents can optionally submit their name for a prize pack. The announcement says this opportunity is open to Australian residents only; it does not state what the pack contains.

This is a request for feedback, not published findings

The announcement does not report completed-response totals, audience demographics, survey results or conclusions about reader satisfaction. It is an invitation to contribute feedback, not evidence of what readers have said so far. Peirce says the aim is to learn what the audience values and use that input to guide the Curb’s coverage and offerings.
