The report estimated the deal at about US$7 billion and said about 30% would be paid upfront. These are reported terms, not details confirmed by either company in the cited coverage.
What are the reported terms of the Oracle–Tencent deal?
Reuters relayed the Financial Times account on September 30, 2026. The Financial Times cited people familiar with the matter; Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report. Reuters also said Oracle and Tencent had not immediately responded to its requests for comment at the time of publication.
| Term | What the report says |
|---|---|
| Compute | About 100,000 advanced AI chips; the model is not identified. |
| Duration | Five years. |
| Location | Multiple Oracle data centres in Southeast Asia; the countries and facilities are not identified. |
| Estimated value | About US$7 billion. |
| Payment | About 30% upfront, according to the report. |
The figures are attributed to the Financial Times report as relayed by Reuters, not to company-confirmed disclosures. The report describes access to advanced chips said to be unavailable in China, but does not explain how the capacity would be deployed or allocated.
What remains undisclosed?
The cited account does not name the chip model, identify the specific data centres or countries, give a start date or deployment schedule, or describe the lease configuration and other contractual terms. The report therefore does not support identifying a GPU generation or saying when Tencent would begin using the capacity.

Reuters described the Financial Times account as based on people familiar with the matter and wrote: “Reuters could not immediately verify the report.” That is a qualification on the report’s status, not proof that either company never commented afterward. The cited coverage records no immediate response from Oracle or Tencent when Reuters sought comment.
